Trachelomonas under the microscope - 1000x

  • I often see these floating around in water samples but don't see them staying still. So when this guy was just sitting there I figured it would be a good idea to zoom in and record some details. There is a round opening at the bottom where the flagella come out, and they can be seen moving around the side of the cell. After looking in the book Freshwater Algae of North America I narrowed it down to some kind of Trachelomonas. This one is about 3 microns wide
    Microscope: Premiere MRJ-03 at 1000x (100x 1.25 NA objective with oil, 10x eyepiece)
    Recorded on a Samsung Galaxy S23+
