Unless you are in the "right" demographic to wear a Rolex, everyone will think it's just a fake anyway. And if you come from "old money", you will only diminish your reputation in the eyes of your peers by wearing one. It's tricky if you want to get it right...
It is easy to get it right in any demographic. SS Daytona. Tho i can see why 10+k can be a nonsense in some cases. Another option is Omega speedy pro. That one is like Converse shoes. Anyone can wear it. It is cheap enough and iconic enough to be acceptable everywhere.
Agreed. Not to mention: since everyone has a smartphone these days, no one needs a watch to tell time. Therefore it is obvious that nice watched are just Veblen goods. Depending on who you ask, Veblen goods are tacky when obvious.

There’s a 3rd type of owner. A person that just buys because they like the look. They aren’t swayed by name recognition or brand/engineering history. They just like the look.
A salesman for Rolex? He'd chase so many away from the brand it'd jeopardize the company. He is the complete personification of the "I'm rich and own a Rolex and you're poor..." type of d-bag nobody wants to be. It'd be like having a homeless drunk advertising the most expensive wines.
I am a shameless Rolex fan boy...I have 6 of them and would like some more. Because of the entire Rolex situation at this point in time, I am considering Tudors.
And then there's the third (or fourth, fifth, ...) kind that loathes Rolexes due to the first kind of people. The brand Rolex tends to polarize people but the watches themselves are well crafted, albeit a little bit expensive for the value they are offering.
I love Rolex because I love over engineered things & Rolex wrote the book on over engineering. They not only make their movements in-house, they even have their own foundry to forge metals that are, yep, over engineered. Check out Oystersteel & everose gold. Two of the metals Rolex manufacture, 904L steel because it’s superior to 316L watch steel that is the industry standard. It plenty good enough but not for Rolex. * I don’t even own a Rolex, yet. But I’m well aware of something great when I see it.
You forgot mention the 3rd type of wearers: the Asians in East Asia excluding Japan regardless of their socio-economic status. Most Asians in that part of the world prefer to wear Rolex than any other watch brand. It's very common to see janitors, bus drivers, taxi drivers, garbage collectors, manual laborers, waiters/waitresses, hawkers, pimps, whores, gangsters, clerks, security guards, flight attendants, real estate agents, accountants, bankers, doctors, lawyers, businessmen/women, corrupt politicians and bureaucrats, etc. wearing Rolex. People from all walks of life in those countries can be seen wearing that overly hyped brand of watch. Whether what they are wearing is genuine or fake is another story. That's why I wear a Patek Phillipe instead of a Rolex. Rolex is an overly diluted brand catering to the Hoi Polloi.
hello Archie, I now own 1 Rolex and I get it, I am an enthusiast and originally bought for the brand, I just dont know how to tell my F#$Khead friends,,,...
Rolex is great value, there's no doubt. And yes, there are two buyers, the businessman who has money but knows nothing about watches, and the enthusiast...but I would argue that there are two types of enthusiasts: those with money and those without money. The enthusiast without money will have to 'grow into' their rolex (or whatever luxury timepiece) because they are the type of person who wears a good portion of their savings on their wrist...which is not, in my opinion, appropriate and does not make them worthy of the watch.
Hilarious watching you pollute your body to an early grave while your telling us that there are two types of rolex watch owners. Not 3 but 2. I hope your acting.
Big Boi-“it’s good cigar etiquette to take the wrapper off”
Also Big Boi “lights cigar with a bic”
Archie, i'm sorry to tell you, but your car dealer ripped you off. The stearing wheel is on the wrong side. Clearly a fake Mercedes!
Thanks for the mention, Big Boy!

Archie, you should be a salesman for Rolex!
Steve Camasso Basically he's just another Rolex fanboy.
That would take Rolex to bankruptcy in a minute

Archie doesn't own anything he merely borrows until the right full owner comes around. Archie will die buried with a $10 Casio around his fat wrist
You made the best argument for Rolex ever- servicing cost and lack of need for much servicing.
yep, the customary cigar vids are back. Cheers 'Dr. Sprague'.

I wish he puts some arsenic in them to save us from our misery.

1 type calls that a blunt and fills it with weed while wearing his gold sub.
whats those thing protruding in he"s head?

symmetrical warts grew in both sides of his head...
Those are the Frankenstein Bolts. They get tightened every time Archie buys another watch.
I am a shameless Rolex fan boy...I have 6 of them and would like some more. Because of the entire Rolex situation at this point in time, I am considering Tudors.

Rolex is a great watch.
Two types ones that can afford it and ones who think they can and put it on credit.
We've all bought the brand, not just with Rolex.
All that pretense of class Paul and you light that cigar with a Bic lighter. We all know.

All these watches and he's living in an apparent dump of an apartment.

You make a fair comment. Rolexes are perhaps one of the best material investments. That's an interesting perspective. :)
one could be mugged for the watch.
Maz-e-rat-i i died, this video was awesome!
Rolex is a great watch. But Grand SEIKO Is better.
Smoking is vile.
Rolex is king!

Is your house under a flight path or something? Jesus
When you are a cheap nasty fucker, you rather spend your inheritance on watches than investing in your life or family.
Haute horology is for people who can afford it... not you
