I was in Philadelphia for Live-Aid and what you never see is that when he was imploring the London crowd, we were following along and hanging by his every word an ocean away. There was NO ONE who ever held a crowd like he did. Not Jagger, Springsteen or Michael. He was simply the best ever in this medium. bar none. Considering his doctors advised him against playing this show at all due to issues with his throat, this iconic performance will be remembered as Freddie and Queen at their best. On this day, they were indeed the best band on the planet.
Best concert ever! Freddie really controls and pumps up the audience, what a showman. The band is perfect, every one of them. Thank you for this reaction.
Freddie had a throat infection and had been advised by his doctor not to perform. Freddie with a sore throat and no auto tune still sounds better than anyone out there today
What makes this concert even more amazing is that Freddie was diagnosed with laryngitis the week before and his doctor recommended that he cancel his appearance. Freddie ignored the advice and did what he loved best, singing to an audience. You might also enjoy the RUclips piece called "The Story of Queen at Live Aid", it gives interesting comments by other performers and staff.
YEEESSS!!! This was a once in a lifetime experience that you never forget... Queen's performance was absolutely brilliant - Freddie "Four Octaves" Mercury had every one of us in the audience (~72.000...), eating straight out of his hand! For 21 glorious minutes, the U.K. was ruled by a different Queen! So enjoyed to watch Your reaction to this, Chad - while at the same time taking another walk down Memory Lane! THANK You!💕
Thrilled to see a new reaction to Oueens masterpiece. It never gets old to me. The Queen boys demonstrate genius professionalism of one and all. Roger persistent on drums and vocals, Deaky (John Deacon) bouncing around giving us his powerful bass and Brian showing out on three different guitars - plus Freddie actually never stopping - deeply invested, involving the fans, lovingly ENTERTAINING. The greatest little concert; thank you much!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this fabulous video! No words. I was in awe all the way through and so impressed that you didn’t interrupt it. So much love and appreciation by thousands for such a beautiful talent.
Someone asked Freddie once what instrument he played & he responded “The audience, darling” The two “officers” at the beginning were from a British sitcom as I understand it.
Queen were the only ones who timed everything perfect and fitted in 6 song's while everyone else did 3 maybe 4 song's and Freddie mercury and Brian May came back again later in the evening and performed the song is this the world we created
The ENERGY and UNITY in the crowd is ASTONISHING. Music definitely brings people together. Freddy did have a powerful voice. Enjoyed this trip down Memory Lane. Thank you for this video, I sincerely appreciate it.
I know I am four days late to the party ( nothing new there!) but my sincere thanks for showing the whole clip, so many reactors omit the final encore, 'Is This The World We Created' which I think embodies the whole idea behind Live Aid. It was also lovely to see Paula and little Fifi at the start of the clip. Thank you very much for a reaction that stands out among the many reactions. Peace.
I remember watching this at the time when I was 8 and thought it was amazing! Freddie was a one off! Such an incredible talent taken from us too soon but his music lives on and Queen are still going strong after all these years, fantastic performance from this epic band! X
Great reaction to QUEEN. I love it when new people discover how great QUEEN are. I loved watching your reaction. Please do more QUEEN. Here I will give you a song. It's called A KIND OF MAGIC live from Wembley concert July 12th, 1986. You will absolutely love it. Thank you for doing QUEEN videos. Take care and have a good day. Your friend, QUEEN BEE.
This show wasn't just for Queen fans but was an amazing collection of artists. They blew everyone off the stage. Freddie had a throat infection and was advised by his doctor not to sing that day. I believe it was Elton John or David Bowie who followed them and jokingly said "You bastards, how can I follow that?" I saw them live in Toronto in 1980 and they were the best live band I ever saw and I saw many including The Beatles and dozens of others. Fans loved Freddie, what's not to like!!!!! But I was a big John Deacon (bass) fan. Quiet and unassuming but great songwriter and his bass blew you off your feet and anchored the band. All four were amazing performers, songwriters and musicians. Not your average rock band...an electrical engineer and inventor (Deacon), a degree in Biology (Taylor), a PhD astrophysicist (May) and artist and graphic designer (Mercury). Four songwriters contributing four different styles. The only possible problem with Freddie as the front man was the other three, all amazing performers, seldom got on camera!!! Interestingly, the first British stamp to have a living Brit on it who was not of the royal family was one from Live Aid showing Freddie singing. He was not British born BUT you could see Roger Taylor in the background on drums. That was a first! PS - notice the audience is singing along!
It was David Bowie (a friend of the band, in fact the only performer to collaborate with the entire band co-writing and performing "Under Pressure") up next and according to both Brian and Roger he simply said "Bastards", it was the general feeling, voiced by some of the bands still to perform that there was no way they could follow that performance and not seem like a supporting act. In a way Bowie did top Queen's performance, by cutting his set short to make room for the short film that made the world cry. If you don't know what I mean, watch the two part documentary "Live-Aid, Against All Odds"
@@trevorgoddard2278 - I was a Queen fan since the 70's and remember watching "Live Aid" on TV when it happened. Just couldn't remember which celebrity said that. I know Bowie and Queen wrote and performed "Under Pressure" in Switzerland after enjoying a fair bit of liquid refreshment, LOL. 😁
Freddie had laryngitis, and was advised not to go on.But,Freddie wouldn’t let the charity,or the fans down. The result was their stint is the most remembered, and loved.
Thank you, thank you. Queen is so inspirational and so epic with these timeless songs. I should be watching my home team in the World Series but decided to watch this instead.
You should listen to the crowd,at a Green Day concert, singing along with Bohemian Rhapsody, playing on the sound system.Word perfect, and they weren’t even there to see Queen. It’s on youtube,Chad,so maybe you’ve seen it,already. It’s very moving, actually.
Best concert ever! Freddie was born to sing and entertain people. He was one of the kind. ❤🦄 he always had crowd in palm of his hand people would stand on the heads if he tell them to. 😂 We Will Rock You is song which made most money of all the time. Check out please Fat Bottomed Girls from Milton Keynes! ❤🙏🏻
Hi Chad... WOWWWW! AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME reaction! (And THANK YOU for including the link for the original video... They did such an AMAZING job! I was sitting here wondering why I had never seen this version/compilation before, but saw over on the original post that it was just uploaded last month.) My birthday isn't for a week yet, but THIS was like an early birthday present!
I remember watching Live Aid on TV with my husband. We were big fans of Queen and a lot of the groups but Queen was outstanding.
I may, if conscious on my death bed, ask to see this just ONE MORE TIME. It is the embodiment of JOY.

Michael Jackson was,we must appreciate them both, they was friends
All the A-list musicians of that time. Ah, so many memories of that summer.
I was 13 yrs old watching this on the big tv in our front room (in the uk). Never forgot that day!
Love your reaction. I have watched this performance hundreds of times and it never gets old........R.I.P. dear sweet Freddie !!!

I just love the way Freddie loved his fans.❤️

1.6 Billion watching from around the world 💞
Glad you included their late encore of "The world we created". It was so appropriate for the cause of the day. Most people ignore it.

I remember watching this live and being totally blown away by their performance. It still gives me goosebumps all these years later. RIP Mr. Mercury.
Someone asked Freddie once what instrument he played & he responded “The audience, darling”
The two “officers” at the beginning were from a British sitcom as I understand it.
A double act,at the time,Mel Smith,and Griff Rhys-Jones.They had a very funny series,called Alas Smith and Jones.Their spiel was a bit off,here.
This is Queen and Freddy Mercury at their best!!! Love it! ❤️

Sweetie,. This was one hell of a performance. God if only I could have seen him in concert.🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🥁🎹🎸🎸💕💕
I did and they were the best live band I ever saw and I saw many.
Me too! War Memorial in Syracuse NY 1975. This is one concert I'll always remember and I was only 15 at the time. 😎
The ENERGY and UNITY in the crowd is ASTONISHING. Music definitely brings people together. Freddy did have a powerful voice. Enjoyed this trip down Memory Lane. Thank you for this video, I sincerely appreciate it.
I've seen this concert about 20 times and still get goosebumps.

Tnx chad for the reaction....
Queen is remarkable group. Still on top of the list💚💚💚
Freddie Mercury would steal the show....even beyond the grave. Look up Greenday concerts and you'll see fans just sing Bohemian rhapsody
He performed on that day against the advice of his physician as he was having throat issues.
