Robert, Robert, Robert. Take it from an experienced farm girl - you want smooth, clean ground quick and easy, you need to be dragging a harrow behind your disc.
Robert, you are amazing. You've rejuvenated the Old Byrd Farm, which was also your family's home, cleaned it up and brought it back to its days of providing food. Miss Vickie has been incredible, sharing her knowledge with all of us. I'm going to start a sweet potato in my empty pot, following her directions. I loved the drone photography. I especially enjoyed Balou watching the horses. This is the first time I've seen them up close. You've opened up so much by clearing out all the giant weed things.
There has to be a market for smilax chips. The public, especially organics, are waiting. Woo, yes, thank goodness smilax is not nearly as bad as wisteria. More tomatoes, yum! The last shots with the drone and "once forgotten farm, lives again," just tugs at the heart strings. You have poured yourself into it. It is very special to me, to witness this happening. I loved this one, Robert. 😊❣️❣️👍👍
I can’t believe that’s the same frontage from 2 years ago!!! 😳😳 it looks incredible Robert!!! Love seeing the roof too from up above! Now fingers crossed you are blessed with an abundance of crops! 🤞🏻
It is AWESOME what you are doing with your place. REVITALIZING it and bringing it back to life. I just love watching this. Learning so much from Ms Vickie and you. I LOVE her accent. ❣
Great video, Robert. Ms Vicky is sure putting her time in. What a friend she is. Can't wait to see the garden in full bloom later. Also, more drone videos please. Really helps us understand the progress and layout of everything.
This has been so interesting Robert ... enjoying it and learning a lot! Many thanks to Miss Vicki for sharing her expertise with all of us. Looking forward to the harvest ...😊
God gave the Old Bryd Farm an angel..may His Love bless you and your hard work you have put into the ground. Now, if any tall skinny men come up missing..well ya know where they are lol. Ty Ms Vickie for your love and sweat you have put into this ground also.
Vicky is doing a GREAT job explaining holistic farming! I am going to try that IMO fertilizer as soon as it gets a little warmer here in central Norway :)
Love the drone shots...looks spectacular!...I'm in love with the grounds...what an amazing job you have done with revitalizing this lovely old farm...keep up the great work...
Garden is looking fantastic lots of hard back breaking work goes into a garden your grandmother would be so proud of your hard work restoring the home place ❤❤
It is unbelievable that you have accomplished so much in such a short time. By a short time I mean the time I thought this would take 3 yrs ago. I thought it would take forever. 👍👍👍👍👍
I am just loving these new gardening series...I love Vicki and how she is teaching new ways of planting..Im a vegi gardener in Australia and didn't know about the horizontal planting method for tomatoes. And I watch your face when shes talking and you're just soaking up all the new information. Good for you and Great TEAM WORK guys. Im gathering that's Walter behind the camera...I was cracking up at him cracking up as Vicki when she said 'straight from the goats ass" lllooolll I had to play that 3 times haaa Ps. I thought Vickies accent was Scottish!
I'm soaking in all Ms. Vickie is sharing. I've worked on my family farm for years. I thought I knew a lot. But Ms Vickie has proved me wrong. I'm telling everyone about how to plant 🌽 now. Lol I always wondered about all the missing kernels. Robert your doing a great job. When you started clearing with pruning shears I thought, this will be years to get 10 feet cleared. Awesome job ❤
Really enjoying the gardening!! So much wonderful information. Really Love Miss Vickie!!! You are doing an incredible job with the farm. Cant wait to see the garden grow!
My goodness, you will have so much growing you could sell them at the Farmers market. Love how you did the ending with your commentary and the arial shots
Robert… I’m enjoying these videos with Miss Vicki. I am learning so much about organic gardening. Thanks for sharing. She should consider starting her own youtube channel.😊
Great video. I have enjoyed watching the progress and process of laying out the garden with your new advisor, Ms Vickie. And the music and closing of this video was very restful and soothing too. It has been fun to watch as your focus and priorities there in the farm have changed, Robert. Yours is the second UTube channel videos I ever watched. The first is Primitive Homes with Anne and her cousin Mel in Mass. Now I follow Aaron as well. You have accomplished so much in such a short time. I am enjoying the ride. Thank you... Hugs from Cullman, Al
Nothing better than a good ole’ tomato sandwich. Oh , yummy! The Old Byrd Farm lives once again. So proud at what your doing Robert. That garden is looking soooo good. Have a quick question. What are those pretty blue flowers that I saw while you were on the tractor? If you got a sec could you share? I have to agree on one of the comments. That Miss. Vickie needs her own garden channel. She could teach us all so much. Like I said, she knows her garden. ♥️♥️😊👍👍🌟🌟🐶
I missed the tree planting season but will make it in the fall/spring. Got apple trees I was two sick to put them in pots. Their from a 150 year old tree your garden looks very nice. Mr Byrd would be proud
I love the drone footage! The farm is really taking shape now and using the wheel, that's so clever. Will you be growing any watermelon or strawberries?
Robert, your Farm is really coming to life, and your gonna have a lot of food come harvest time. Does your mom know how to can?? or is that something that you might do this fall, to save what you grew this year, for over the winter?? I look so forward to your videos now. Miss Vickin is teaching you a lot. WTG!!
You have made SO much progress over the last year. It will be nice to get the outside taken care of so you can get at the inside. I'm sure you've been waiting for the rain to stop so you can get to things on the inside. You've been hard at it!
Your so lucky to get to plant already. We here in Utah had over 900 inches of snow. The sun has just barely come out at 60 degrees for today. I love your videos!!
Robert, you have accomplished so much on the farm. It is really looking fantastic. I had to double take when I saw the neighbor's horses in their pasture. It wasn't that long ago you had a wisteria jungle blocking that view.
that drag is great. you could drag much of the property with it only one inch or so down. it would rake up all that old wisteria again you are doing Great! down let the fools bother you.
Lord, if you keep going you are going to have a truck garden. Sure hope your next step will be to learn how to can all those vegitables that could feed several families. lol By the way, are you going to go for planting cabbage this year? My grandmother made home made sauerkraut in big crocks. Our job was to pick off the cabbage worms and water the garden. This is a great project you decided to do this year. Can't wait to see you touring us around your garden once it takes off.
I used to think you were just acting like a farmer, now I have to admit you ARE a farmer, best of luck and here’s hopin the boll weevil don’t find your tomatoes!!!.
Hey Robert you should see if there are any work release prisoners that aren't dangerous to help on the farm! I've seen that happen before in areas around the U.S.. it gives those guys and gals experience and make short work on projects! Or the youth work centers for kids that just keep screwing up ! Councilors help teach them sustainable gardening work ethics etc.. just a thought! It could be fun! We had a crew come help me pick up garbage on the Salmon River in Idaho it was a great experience and those guys were happy to help! We got a portable toilet and just pulled it along with a cooler full of sodas and water! I made sandwiches and cookies cuz that's how I role ! It worked nicely! Just a thought!
Hey lookin good ! There are some kids you could screen that need to fulfill community service! Thats a good way to get help and give knowledge back to the kiddos! I have also done that with a few of them and it literally changed their lives positive work ethic and new knowledge of being stewards of the land!
When planting tomatoes, if the plants are big enough I strip most of the leaves off, leaving only the top sprig of leaves. Then I dig a shallow trench and place each plant on its side. Leave the small top uncovered. I usually add a hand full of slow-release fertilizer. The whole part underground will turn to roots. After season when digging them up you will see the whole part buried is all roots. Better for it to get water and nutrients. 🍅🍅🍅 One very hot year my plants were over 7 ft high.

Robert, Robert, Robert. Take it from an experienced farm girl - you want smooth, clean ground quick and easy, you need to be dragging a harrow behind your disc.
p.s. In Texas, we call that smilex vine BINDWEED. We don't like it because it's noxious and invasive and will take over your garden in a heartbeat.
Man the videos just get better and better, Ms. Vicky needs her own channel for teaching. Yall are doing great work.
Robert, you are amazing. You've rejuvenated the Old Byrd Farm, which was also your family's home, cleaned it up and brought it back to its days of providing food. Great video, Robert. Ms Vicky is sure putting her time in. What a friend she is. Can't wait to see the garden in full bloom later. Also, more drone videos please. Really helps us understand the progress and layout of everything.
The drone view was a good out-tro for this episode. Now you have to do one at least once a week so we can see "how your garden grows."
Happy for you Robert. Can't wait to see the harvest and the growth along the way
This has been so interesting Robert ... enjoying it and learning a lot! Many thanks to Miss Vicki for sharing her expertise with all of us. Looking forward to the harvest ...😊

Robert, I love how you respectfully say "Yes Mamme" to Miss Vickie. You know using that wisteria would make a really cute rustic trellis

Everyone is going to be talking about the Old Byrd Farm garden this Summer ❗❗
