171 DISLIKES? What is wrong with you people? Gary Moore was probably the best Blues/rock guitarist ever to have walked this Earth. I wish I had even one percent of his guitar ability. RIP Gary, you legend ..
Austin Davies haha, I know! I just said the same to a guy who said it was at 199 & I just saw it at 280plus. Clearly, there's nearly 300 idiots watching RUclips, with no conception of an instrument called the guitar (strats, tele's, gold tops, SG's, etc) no idea where Chicago is, no idea of the genesis of blues music from African tribal rhythms, etc. You simply can't help some people, lol!
I can't believe all this talent is lying 6 feet underground in a small box never to be heard from again! Death really pisses me off! RIP Gary! We miss you!

I think he was one of the greatest of all times. The stuff he pulls with that guitar and how he makes it cry, is something that is second to none. God rest his soul, the greatest ever - Gary Moore.
The absolute GOAT. Noone can touch him, even great modern players like Govan, Miller, Sfogli etc. The emotion, the passion, the phrasing, the atmosphere the note choice, the expressiveness, the intensity, the diversity...simply from another planet. RIP Gary
The thing about Gary was every time he picked up a guitar he didn't give it a 100 percent he always gave it an 180 percent and that in my book accounts for everything..we all sure miss your genius Gary....🎸🎸🎸
How can anyone who listens & likes ANY KIND OF MUSIC " dislike THI?????? THIS IS HEAVENLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love Gary's playing - highly under recognized by the public at large . RIP Gary.
I gave up playing guitar once.. but Gary Moore was the one who reignited that flame..that power, that emotion.. He was such an inspiration and still is.
Gary was the best blues guitarist this planet has ever known, BB King loved him, I remember a comment made by him while he was playing on a show with Gary, "you're hot tonight young man" nothing compares, fastest lead licks I've ever heard and I've had the honour to hear him live at the UEA Norwich, I was absolutely devastated to hear that he had passed away while on holiday all those years ago now, I love all music, but when you hear Gary, it absolutely blows you away, makes me wonder, when I listen to the blues show on BBC radio 2 with the Mathew's girl, whether she has ever heard of the King of the blues, Gary Moore suppose suppose suppose I am 69
I am a guitarman for nearly 50years🤩🤩🤩 This man has ,a, tone ❤️❤️❤️ Like some others……… but not so many……… tone🎶🎶🎶🎶👀👀👀👀🤩🤩🤩is respect….. and Not affection………… Mark knopfler David gilmore Gary moore and some others have ,it,!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😎😎😎
Of all the guitarists in the world Gary Moore is one of the most aggressive, yet he can change to smooth, quiet and melodic at the drop of a hat, and often within the same solo.
Wow, Tremendous performance! Gary was taken way too early, his style and voice...beyond words. R.I.P. up there with B.B. King, Stevie Ray and all others who played flawlessly and influentually!
It's amazing how Gary can go live from just crushing notes to a nearly silent transition...without effects of any kind. I just found him and so happy that I have him in my life. He's a real virtuoso.
I just recently discovered Gary Moore even though I knew his music from when he was in Thin Lizzy, I never knew it was him. He was taken from the music world way too soon. He definitely should have been more famous as a guitarist than Eddie VanHalen, Peter Frampton, or Ted Nugent, and deserves to be recognized as one of the best, if not THE BEST of all time.
One of the most beautiful and tasteful players ever, such tasteful phrasing. He may not have the arsenal of techniques as someone like Govan or Holdsworth or lane. But from the skill bag he had he poured every thing into every single phrase with intense passion and perfect note choices. One if the greatest to ever play. Respect sir
If there is one guitarist that rivals the great Jimmi Hendrix, it is most definitely Gary Moore. He is probably the one of the not the most underated guitarists. He has a gift that very few have, God rest his soul
In 1970 when i was 13,the guitar hit me,,i got into, ten years after first, but i had blues in my head,,i looked and looked for this sound in my head,,got into Hendrix,,Blackmore,Clapton etc,,then heard Gary Moore,,,his blues is what was in my head way back then,,wow love this post !!!!
what i regret in my life is that, i knew Gary Moore too late. now i cannot hear him live. I wish he was alive, and i would spend any money to go and watch him live, enjoy every moment live.
My friend we have the same regrets. I only discovered Gary 2 years ago. I haven’t stop listening ever since. I would’ve travelled anywhere to see him live no matter the cost....🎸🎸❤️❤️
He was a master of tone control...note his right hand while playing,he's not hitting bs peddles ,he's using his pots to control the beast in him... Simply awesome thanks for the post
I have posted this many times and I see it is necessary here as well. Music is all about taste of course, but please, you have to give this fantastic man and his fellow musicians more credit than just to rate thumbs down! May he Rest In Peace. Thank you for posting this, I shall play his music until my dying day. Peace to you all, Fred.
He had no problem getting as many notes in a measure as any shredder. . . but I am not sure that any shredder could put as much emotional expression in one note as Gary . . . his tone was exquisite on every guitar that ended up in his hands. . .
He is simply enjoying every note , and feeling each bend of the string as sustaining chilling licks plaster the feet board ,awesome totally , Stevie ray had his own still but Gary has got His , two great for sustaining the blues
I'm totally with you. Such beautiful playing - tone, phrasing, variety of those sustained notes only he could play in the way he did, along with the staccato phrase he puts in - and then some amazing legato licks. Come on!!! How I miss him.
There are other great guitar players, but Garry Moore plays with emotions but importantly he plays with total precessions. This guy is just beyond comprehension in music. Why do such good musicians die so young. RIEP Gary!!!!!
Between 10-18mins of this video, Gary gives a perfect demonstration of everything a Les Paul can be. It can be beautiful, It can be haunting & It can be a screaming Power house! I reckon Gary & Ted McCarty are discussing this fondly in Heaven as we speak! Truly great Gary, on so many levels.
Sorry to disagree with your ranking, but I must. Neither of your 2 top guys ever got close to what Gary did on this video. If you have any specific examples where they did, I'd be happy to check them out. IMO this dude set the bar where nobody else can touch it.

Truly the best guitarist on this planet. Even after he's gone.
The best blues guitarist ever .
Best blues/rock guitarist ever. It's not even a contest. He was in a league all by himself.
No doubt a guitar virtuoso, but that's saying a lot, I love and miss Moore, died way too young like some others and I've heard and enjoyed them all!
I second the original posters comment for sure.
There has been nobody better than him! I'd be willing to vote best guitarist known to man.

Un genio!!!.....el mejor para tocar el blues, sus riffs por más que los ensayo, no le llego.😅
Gary Moore, you were born to blues music and have truly made the world a happy place.
Gary had complete mastery of his instrument. Legend. Taken from us far too soon. RIP Gary. I miss you.

Holy Crap.. As a newbie.. Never really paid much attention to Gary before ... OMG..
This gentleman is/was definitely one of the GOATs
The magic of Gary Moore is in his right hand. His picking hand. The attack on the strings is what made him so special.
He could make it bark , chirp, weep , and scream master of the fret board
Gary had such an excellent vibrato and could bend as good as anybody. From a Stevie Ray fan, both sadly missed, RIP to both.
Both hands were registered deadly weapons. His bending/pitch control was off the charts.
When he plays it touch’s your very soul and why he is not mentioned in circles with the greats is a mystery to me.
