I soloed to ascendant last couple seasons this season I don’t care for the emblem but the next one i definitely want. I wish it was just round based like trials cause the game modes are shit. Had games where we wiped the enemy team like 5 points to win in collision and they spawn on the new zone to win so whoever let the enemy team kill them would’ve won. Like ban exotics or something it’s not very competitive lol. COD has to ban half the game to have a competitive scene.
Took about a year and a half off and just came back this weekend just to play some comp to see what it’s like before the changes next season. Been alright. Placed high but probs won’t have enough time between now and Tuesday to get the emblem. Good luck
im just an avg plyr who has to try superhard and barely manages to get these comp emblems every season. i have been just playing solo this season since most of my friends stopped playing. i wasted whole october to get this emblem. the matchmaking was horrible and at one point i could barely get into adept. started comp grind again after christmas and the experience was worse. bad matchmaking and sooo many cheaters. at one point i dropped down from 8300 to 7200 in like 6 hrs. but 2 weeks ago, something changed. bungie did something i swear. no more cheaters. not even ximmers. matchmaking was mostly pretty fair and i got my ascedant. whole season i played hunter with rose and shotty. but finally i gaveup and put on multimach and zealot's reward for most of my games. i was so happy to finally get the emblem. hope you do too!
I'm convinced the game hard pushes certain outcomes. I've had matches where my team is 100% going to win, and I just get booted from the match, counting as an automatic loss for me. I've seen the same thing happen for the enemy team, where we should lose, but then two players just leave out of the blue. Some days I go on crazy win streaks, and go back and see that every match it gave me was in my teams favor from the second we got match-made (70-80% chance of winning per TRN ELO), and other days the game will absolutely not allow me to win (80%+ in opponent teams favor per TRN ELO). I also found out how to manipulate the match-making. If I play around 8-9am CST I suddenly start gretting very winnable matches. I was able to abuse this the last two episodes, but now I work at a different time so I can't abuse it. I get my hardest matches at 1-4am, when there are less people online. I get match made with people in other countries around this time a lot too.

Last episode I literally hit Ascendant III about 20min before servers went down for maintenance. I told myself I'd do it sooner this season, but ended up playing other games and slacking off again. I would pull an all nighter again to hit Ascendant, but screw it. I'd have to play about 20 games. I played 25 games yesterday, just to fall from Adept III to Platinum I, back to Adept III. Sometimes I just go back and forth from Adept I to Adept III. I failed Ascendant relegation 2 times last episode on the last week. Oh well.
Jeez, havent even touched this entire season and it's gone. This comes up in my feed and now I feel like jumping in again. I love this game's PVP. I know it's gonna be stupid and it will disappoint me but what the hell, just want a taste.
it's 2-2 play for time 😂 I've always enjoyed Trials more than comp; I think I prefer the elimination style/round based setup over the long slog clash/collision. It feels like in Trials the 'weaker' team (on paper) can still get a win over the better one with creative plays and a lucky round or two, but in Comp the better one will almost always win. I suppose this is more fair in the long run; but I don't like being one minute into a comp game and realizing my team has a 1% chance of winning, versus two rounds into a trials match and still feeling like we could turn it around with a few good plays. Losses seem to go faster in Trials for me at least, which is one reason I play the mode more than comp.

Comp matches are literally / objectively longer and more boring than Trials matches. Since everyone is similar performance-wise they gravitate towards the safest options and not experimenting too much. I go to Trials just to goof around and play fast, and can make out with a flawless ticket while testing a build. At the same time though, Trials has less lives overall, so one mistake can decide an entire match more than in Comp. I think it just comes down to playing with similar performance opponents.
I miss Elimination. It was more possible to win 1v3s, and you couldn't just hide or run the entire match, because a flag would spawn after time ran out. Also because of the round based nature, you wouldn't be at the mercy of split spawns getting your team snowballed. Spawn manipulation also takes skill / knowledge, but I think the point at which it becomes practical knowledge to everyone who's going to be in the fireteam doesn't start until upper Adept ranks. I find I have to put in astronomically more brain power to get my team to win in Clash, and especially in Collision.
Im on ps5 and Dood ever since prismatic or ep echos Ive been HARD locked in adept friken 3. The only time Ive gone solo accendant was season of the wish RIGHT before final shape. I even got to 10k a few times and stayed accendant 1 all throughout the rest. I just felt like the abilites were not over zealous, ppl ACTUALLY played the game none of that sit in spawn bs. I swear it lowkey got easier once I got to ascendant cuz it was just a bunch of hunters with a hc shotty just like me so now I can actually have a competitive fight. It was surreal like a fancy yacht club of rich ppl just having a competitive tennis match or somthing 😂 it was so much more chill. Wtf happened? Just get that warlock electro slide the F$&@$ outta here stupid 15meter radius nuke u die if ur lowhealth, mid health, full health cuz ull get jolted by a teammy OR they’ll IMMEDIATELY melee u OR insta shot u. Zero counter window 🪟. Aannnddd they have 3-4 depending on the build…GREAT just GREAT 😂😢
The revert of checkmate caused this. Season of Wish hitting Ascendant was easy, and I mostly used double HCs(Rose and Igneous), only swapping to a special weapon on my last 3 games to Ascendant. No people running a fusion as primary, lower uptime on guaranteed win abilities (Every class has at least one), but also people sitting in the back with a pulse or scout wasn't as popular, or maybe it was, but it was easier to push people trying to play like that without them always having an ability to counter your teams aggression. I think Adept is the hardest rank to play in, because Adept players are playing out of their minds trying to hit Ascendant, while Ascendant players are already satisfied and can play more chill. I think once you're in Ascendant, you're also more likely to get teammates who aren't going to run off on their own (uncoordinated) and feed deaths to the enemy. Hitting Ascendant II was easier than any of my Adept matches.
I'm loving comp this season, I actually feel the gamemodes really suit my new playstyle of crouching with a pulse like a silent, watching ninja, people might not like it, but haters gonna hate, this is D2 the tactical space shooter and I'll be damned if I'm not playing tactically!

Skill issue. Learn the game mode. Everything isn’t slay out based. Learn the game as well.
I'm not a fan of Collision either. I've lost and won matches just because of flag and spawn rng.
last season it took me 114 games to get ascendant, this season it took me around 260 ish. So glad it’s over just in time 😭
