We have 3 young kids and one grown between us… and I might have used things like 2 toddler boys as an issue and as an excuse for not meeting my responsibilities or having the energy and enthusiasm my man might want to see from me… no wonder he looks to others to have fun - because the mom of all his littles is exhausted and desperate and needy and not able to even meet all those needs, let alone take care of self or man… but the youngest is starting school this year… so hopefully things are turning some corners to prepare for a brighter marital season.
My husband’s greatest strengths are: 1) hard working 2) dedicated 3) usually loyal 4) funny - enjoys making people laugh 5) loving 6) caring towards his family 7) willing to help out at church for VBS 8) smart - this should be up with dedicated - he is so so so intelligent 9) handsome - ooh sexxxy green eyes, sly smile… full chest. Oh yes. 10) supportive as much as he can be 11) creative - we don’t like the same types of art but I love that he appreciates art and participated in it 12) he loves to read and that’s admirable 13) he reads the Bible and prays
And giving and generous, and strong. And Christian. So that’s cool. There are a ton of things to love about my husband. I just wished he felt the same way about me and could be proud to be with me and want to enjoy my company as much as other people in his life he’s willing to make the effort for. Nobody wants to be with somebody who doesn’t want to be with them… He’s great at being *for* us, playing the role of Family Man… but it should be based on a connection between us, a desire to be together with one another and for whatever reason that piece seems missing. I’m listening to try and inspire it back because my alternative is unacceptable. My alternative would be leaving. It’s crushing to feel like this - like I can’t do or accomplish or change enough fast enough for him and meanwhile I’m watching our marriage tank under the pressures of outside temptation. Neither of us want that. So, there is hope in that, and in God’s plan for us.
