Really appreciate an honest review. Seems like all other reviewers are convincing themselves the figure isn’t so terrible to justify their purchase. I can’t get past the long neck, shiny suit and short torso.
This was a super refreshing review. Gotten really fed up lately of the run of absolute crap releases and so many other reviewers always up for defending and excusing it. Too many collectors seem happy to drop £250 on a figure, then double that by the time you get an additional sculpt, body, cape and base all because Hot Toys cant be arsed. As a ten year collector myself its shocking to see how truly inexcusable this figure and the audacity they have to release this. This and the recent Doc Brown.... lost for words on the downward slope.
After seeing this review I’m now angry; hearing Dean articulate so well how HT cheaped out on us with this release has helped me feel more what everyone else has been feeling. My channel is tiny and insignificant, but my initial review on this release has had over 2k views despite that, and I feel better now for likely having helped contribute to several people canceling their orders. 😊👍

I remember an interview Justin (I think) did with Howard Chan where Howard said Hot Toys was started from a passion for accurate figures, and I feel like that's bullshit. This figure right here just shows that it's almost always money over passion. Cash grabs first, everything else later. They owe fans a public apology for this. Doesn't even look like the promo pics.

This has got to be the worst release I have gotten from Hot Toys. This figure right here has now made me completely stop on preorders. I don't care for sideshows FOMO BS I will wait. This is completely unacceptable! I was truly hoping to see the custom cape on this new POS just to see how it looked.

Thank you so much for your absolutely honest review. I have never, ever in my 6 yrs of collecting, ever returned a figure. But, this blatant slap in the face by Hot Toys to collectors is so disgusting. I was very eagerly anticipating this figure and had arrived on the 15th of this month, but I've been so busy at work that I haven't had the chance to open it. But after the reviews poured in and seeing just how poorly this figure was made, without a care in the world, I just couldn't justify keeping it. After viewing your review, I've made the difficult decision to send it back to Sideshow for credit. I just can't justify keeping it knowing full well I'm not gonna be happy with it. It's a damn shame because I really was looking forward to this figure. But we collectors need to show Hot Toys that this crap they try to shove in our faces is not acceptable. I decided to vote with my wallet and send it back. I pray some other company, perhaps Inart will finally do this figure justice.
I’m really happy you adressed the differed in the heads. Bale was a monster in begins. His face was and body were completely different. I’d argue he looked more similar in tdk/tdkr than begins. As well as the cape still not dealing properly. How did they get the sonar suit so right but this so wrong? Makes no damn sense. Top 3 favorite Batman suits ever. Absolutely a shame and I’m gonna have to sadly pass on this one
This is an absolute abomination! Sick of Marvel & Star Wars crap getting all the time and effort, clearly they have Marvel and Star Wars as their priority. Loving that Disney $$$$$$ too much. I’ve been wanting a proper Batman begins figure since I started collecting. I didn’t want to get the original tf exclusive but didn’t want to risk the ankle issues. This new release is so disappointing. I’m tempted to pick it up and get a custom sculpt and cape but at the same time I wonder if we should wait to see if inart can capitalize on this failure of a release. When you look at this figure and Hot Toys Bane 2.0, it's difficult to believe that both products are coming from the same company, such is the chasm in quality between the two.

I have the hot toys 1/4 and I have a custom cape for that and it looks alright. But for this, I just have other things to buy instead of getting a new cape and spending hundreds of dollars on a new head to make it decent looking.

Another poor release and for me, hot toys is no longer a premium company. They don't deserve the dc licence and imagine someone like iconiqstudios or kaustic plastic making this batman begins. Inarts in reality is our only hope. Figures like this, doc brown to name only a few, is the reason I don't pre order hot toys, plus actually distancing myself from there. Into the above two companies and statues. Great review Dean, hope people spread this review like wild fire.
Received batman forever and this figure on the same day from sideshow. Was blown away when I opened kilmer, but I'm glad I didn't open this begins figure yet because I'm definitely sending it back if I can.

I contacted unrealtoys and asked how much for the headsculpt and how long it's gonna take? Their reply said? $140 for the unpainted version and $300 for the painted version and between 30 to 70 dollars for shipping and another 5%for PayPal. That's totally absurd and too darn high. Not even Tony Mei charges that much. TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED

Just typed in why you bought another one but you answered towards the end. Whats sad is that this is the norm for all companies making figures! From cheap $20 to $300 high end figures re-use & cash grab figures have been coming out in droves across the board! You know why? Because people keep buying them!

I have the 1/4 hot toys, I’m not sure why they didn’t just shrink down that cowl like they did with qs001 and armory… As for the grapple, WB started an embargo on guns or gun items, somehow dx19 got away with it but not this release. Personally I’ll wait for price to drop and display this as the first night out version. It’s unfortunate how lazy of a release this is
Wow 😂 seeing them side by side really highlights how bad this release looks. That shiny suit looks like one of those 12" hard plastic action figures Mattel used to make 😅 At least the unmasked headsculpt looks good 👍 but everything else, including those scary looking ski masks leave a lot to be desired. I never owned a Bale Batman, getting the dx19 now and I might also win this at an auction (I seem to be the only bidder, wonder why, lol :)) ). What's up with those funny faceplaces though? I imagine he did those expressions at some point in the movies, but why go with them for the figure? Maybe they will look better if I make them bloody or something

What a waste of $. They will eventually put one out in the future to make up for this catastrophe. Collector's be patient don't waste your money it's not worth it. You should not be content with an expensive figure that is way off. You will always question and doubt yourself on purchasing and regret it.
Style wise I like the Batman behind suit better than the dark knight suit but I had a feeling they were gonna notch this suit since it’s rubber so I went with the DX19 and I’m glad I did

I looked for that GRAPNEL GUN gun for 30 minutes! I thought that it maybe fell out of the box and my cat had swatted it under the couch, so I even moved the couch, but never found the GRAPNEL GUN. I can't believe that they did not include it. I unboxed this figure, posed it up and have not touched it since. Really lame figure.
Their lo e is on Marvel and Star Wars, and tes you would thinknthey update a few thin for this one but just a cash grab. Wonderimg how the shine of the suit can be toned down?!?! If your gonna customize this one let us know. Good review.

They've somehow managed to make their figure from 10* years ago WORSE with this lazy/obligatory reissue. I was hoping they'd shrink the 1/4 scale figure down for an updated 1/6 Begins figure at very least, but not like this. Not like this... I wish you a Merry Christmas, and a very Happy New Year!
I got this figure just because I didn’t have a Batman begins. I already threw a custom cape on it and was wondering if it would be ok to paint the suit matte? Any suggestions???
Why didn't they just scare down the 1/4 begins head? I think it was pretty good and a vast improvement over the giraffe one here. This re-release is a complete joke!
Luckily, I also have the Takara Batman Begins, so I replaced the crappy Hot Toys cape for the Takara cape and it really makes a HUGE difference. The rubber suit on my MMS595 isn't quite as shiny as some others that I have seen, so I got lucky there. Dean you really need to get the Batman Forever Batman and Robin figures. Yes, the movie sucked and Robin has nipples, but the figures are really THAT GOOD. Merry XMAS dude. Love your videos.
Hot Toys do get a hell of a lot right with the majority of their releases but unfortunately this figure is nothing short of a disgrace!! I can't believe some collectors on You tube think this release is accepatable. Well said Dean on saying how it is.
I'm so disappointed in Hot Toys that I've sent them an email (respectful but firm and honest) expressing the dissatisfaction of their customers. I can only hope they acknowledge it and improve their QC.
As I showed on my IG, the suit isn’t hard to dull down with 91 percent alcohol and a microfiber cloth. The suit is more or less accurate. It isn’t perfect but is closer to accuracy than the Sonar figure that was just released suit wise. The cowl is of course not perfect and the cape is atrocious. I am planning to at least change the cape out. Currently I have him in the first night configuration. Yes the grapnel gun should have been included and the face plates should have been better. I have an issue with the belt beyond the color. The batarang holder isn’t present in any image I have ever seen. It should have been a cheaper figure. Unfortunately there isn’t any other Begins option if you want this style Batman in your collection. I am keeping it and modifying what I don’t like.
Won’t the alcohol dry out the material of the suit a bit and cause deterioration or cracking at some point down the road? I’ve contemplated just slapping on a coat or two of a spray matte finish. Not sure you can get the charcoal color required to make it accurate though?
@@karascrow Alcohol is not the harshest chemical, unlike acetone which I was also willing to try. Once alcohol evaporates that is about the end of it. Now in my opinion, the suit is shiny from mold release, not paint. Soap and water may have given similar results. I highly doubt the suit will deteriorate from the alcohol long term any more than anything else. I also considered just coating it but I tried that with the Enterbay cowl and the paint didn’t stick. I have paints designed to paint rubbers I haven’t tried, I just don’t know if they are compatible with Hot Toys rubbers. Either way I can deal with how it looks for now. I tend to think if the cape was in the correct position, on top of the cowls neck, the cowl wouldn’t look quite as bad. I just have to figure out how much I want to modify this figure.

DX 19 is great, I have him on the Bat Pod. It is a shame about the Batman Begins figure, would have been a possible purchase, but not now!
This is so sad , I have one of the original releases and was hoping that they would fix things , this seems worse, plus no gun that’s so strange.

Definitely a great review. My fav Bats and movie f’d up again in figure form. Going to cancel today. I don’t know what to do about begins now. I had the other releases. I was just going to add custom parts but I don’t know.
I looked for that GRAPNEL GUN gun for 30 minutes! I thought that it maybe fell out of the box and my cat had swatted it under the couch, so I even moved the couch, but never found the GRAPNEL GUN. I can't believe that they did not include it. I unboxed this figure, posed it up and have not touched it since. Really lame figure.
And I was really keen on the Batman Begins figure. That's disappointing. I should have gone for the Dark Knight Rises figure instead.
Their lo e is on Marvel and Star Wars, and tes you would thinknthey update a few thin for this one but just a cash grab. Wonderimg how the shine of the suit can be toned down?!?! If your gonna customize this one let us know. Good review.
Thank you for yet another brilliant review video, Dean. Hot Toys ought to be ashamed of themselves for this release, and I suspect they are. They've somehow managed to make their figure from 10* years ago WORSE with this lazy/obligatory reissue. I was hoping they'd shrink the 1/4 scale figure down for an updated 1/6 Begins figure at very least, but not like this. Not like this... I wish you a Merry Christmas, and a very Happy New Year!

You could try a repaint and then a matte varnish finish in the end. It should at least improve

I got this figure just because I didn’t have a Batman begins. I already threw a custom cape on it and was wondering if it would be ok to paint the suit matte? Any suggestions???

Why didn't they just scare down the 1/4 begins head? I think it was pretty good and a vast improvement over the giraffe one here. This re-release is a complete joke!
Luckily, I also have the Takara Batman Begins, so I replaced the crappy Hot Toys cape for the Takara cape and it really makes a HUGE difference. The rubber suit on my MMS595 isn't quite as shiny as some others that I have seen, so I got lucky there. Dean you really need to get the Batman Forever Batman and Robin figures. Yes, the movie sucked and Robin has nipples, but the figures are really THAT GOOD. Merry XMAS dude. Love your videos.

Hot Toys do get a hell of a lot right with the majority of their releases but unfortunately this figure is nothing short of a disgrace!! I can't believe some collectors on You tube think this release is accepatable. Well said Dean on saying how it is.

I'm so disappointed in Hot Toys that I've sent them an email (respectful but firm and honest) expressing the dissatisfaction of their customers. I can only hope they acknowledge it and improve their QC.

As I showed on my IG, the suit isn’t hard to dull down with 91 percent alcohol and a microfiber cloth.
The suit is more or less accurate. It isn’t perfect but is closer to accuracy than the Sonar figure that was just released suit wise.
The cowl is of course not perfect and the cape is atrocious. I am planning to at least change the cape out. Currently I have him in the first night configuration. Yes the grapnel gun should have been included and the face plates should have been better. I have an issue with the belt beyond the color. The batarang holder isn’t present in any image I have ever seen.
It should have been a cheaper figure. Unfortunately there isn’t any other Begins option if you want this style Batman in your collection. I am keeping it and modifying what I don’t like.
Won’t the alcohol dry out the material of the suit a bit and cause deterioration or cracking at some point down the road?
I’ve contemplated just slapping on a coat or two of a spray matte finish. Not sure you can get the charcoal color required to make it accurate though?
@@karascrow Alcohol is not the harshest chemical, unlike acetone which I was also willing to try. Once alcohol evaporates that is about the end of it. Now in my opinion, the suit is shiny from mold release, not paint. Soap and water may have given similar results. I highly doubt the suit will deteriorate from the alcohol long term any more than anything else.
I also considered just coating it but I tried that with the Enterbay cowl and the paint didn’t stick. I have paints designed to paint rubbers I haven’t tried, I just don’t know if they are compatible with Hot Toys rubbers. Either way I can deal with how it looks for now. I tend to think if the cape was in the correct position, on top of the cowls neck, the cowl wouldn’t look quite as bad. I just have to figure out how much I want to modify this figure.

Be careful spraying something that might actually make it worse. Might start out flat, but it will get sticky and ruin it further than it already is.
