Robben is a guitar virtuoso,, period, end of story. BUT his rhythm guitar playing is so good it could stand alone as well. Check his rhythm (and lead ) work when he plays, along with his brother Mark on Mark's 2 self titled releases featuring Robben and the Blue Line. Melt your face rock 'n roll
One of my favourite solo’s. Just builds perfectly. And the tone, timing etc. I leant a lot from it. That whole album is killer. Nothing but the blues on that album is so great too. Robben at his best IMO
When I first heard the Album Talk to your Daughter, I was stunned. Literally stunned. Robeen Ford has it all. Been learning from his recordings ever since.
Thrilled that you like this! I was fairly surprised that it got so few views… Then I did some research and realize Robben Ford is not popular at all! L O L at any rate… Thanks again
Talk To Your Daughter was my first Robben Ford album purchased in 1988. His playing is brilliant and tasteful. The solos on Help The Poor, Revelation, Nothing But The Blues are incredibly great.
Hey Reid! Thanks for taking the time to watch this video. It’s slowly getting more views, but still not the kind of coverage I wish I could get… I totally agree with everything you said, by the way! Thanks again!
Robben Ford has always been one of my favorite guitar players since his first records with his brothers that were done in the early 1970's when they were in their teens and early 20's.
Love it all,Robin is one of my all time favorites but the LP I think is blues dictionary is the Inside Story along with fusion playing as well. Thanks 🙏 for your work God Bless
Thanks a lot, tim! There are some unbelievable solos on this record! However, I don’t know if there’s just a general disinterest, or if RUclips is punishing me for not having put out a full length video and some time, but at the point that I’m writing you I have under 250 views and over 8000 subscribers SMH.
Love that solo but you left out the best part when he takes the solo to an even higher level. Listen to the song again. Robben is in my top 3 "best ever" list. Love The Blue Line Band also, wish they would record/tour again
100%! That was his signature series guitar from Fender. I looked on reverb.com and I couldn't find maybe more than two. I don't think many of them are made. A friend of mine bought one and said it was the best guitar he's ever played and regret selling it.
@@streetwiseguitar5113 There's a company called Eastwood that makes (or used to; don't know) a convincing looking copy, but I couldn't speak to how it plays or sounds. My favourite axe is the Ibanez AR series. Evokes the Fender Esprit, looks lovely, and plays beautifully. Cheers
Many thanks!! It's truly lovely to see that there are some people that are really enjoying this video. At first I was really bummed out by the loan number of views and then upon further researching that Robin for only has 20 4K subscribers harsh reality set in that he is not really appreciate it except only by a select few! I hope you got a ton out of the solo! There's lots of great stuff to steal
This solo is exactly why i stopped playing guitar, when it came out only the gifted could learn it. No internet back then, think i had a rockman cassette tap headphone amp to learn from.
Hey Paul I'm so glad you enjoyed this video! I was really disappointing when I saw how few people have watched it! Then I went to Robin Ford's channel and saw that he only has 24,000 subscribers. It was a rude awakening, because I thought that he was considered to be an important guitarist but I think maybe only amongst a subset of guitarists do they think that. At any rate, I sincerely appreciate that you enjoyed the video and by doing so, you supporting my channel which I am grateful for!
Hey John. It's nice to know that you enjoyed this because not nearly as many people viewed this as I thought would! I sincerely appreciate the support! I hope you subscribe and hit the notification bell so you don't miss anything up coming!
Hopefully you will subscribe and hit the notification bell because I am going to be covering all sorts of pentatonic hacks so you can get this shit underneath your fingers and start playing the way you've dreamed!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this 👍. Made a transcription many years ago and use it frequently when teaching. This song is kind of ”the perfect storm”….everything is perfect; phrasing, syntax, dynamics, sound, interplay….🎸🎶😊
I think you said it all! Thank you so much for enjoying this video… The way it started out it had very very few views, and they bummed me out. I’m very pleased that you enjoyed it! Thank you for your support of this video and this channel!
I have to say the playing on revelation from the same album floors me more. That part at 3:13? Best playing ever. But blues? Maybe not. Not that I care, great music is great music no matter the genre.
Frode! I LOVE Revelation and I think I'll do a vid on that one. Man, I hope I get more than a measly 600 views as I have on this one. But let's face it… Not many people know who Robben Ford is or even cares.
I think the best thing to do is to go to a reputable store, where a good sales person can help you determine which body style fits you well. They’ll also let you know which are the quality makes of guitar.
Amazzzzing solos...WHICH... I'll cover at a later date. This out, I searched for any and all live versions of TTYD. His live solos don't even come close to this… I mean life solos on this tune that I've heard. That album has absolutely remarkable playing
Talk to Your Daughter was written by J.B. Lenoir. Here's the 1954 original: ruclips.net/video/LsvBowXvmoc/видео.html Here's a 1966 version that sounds more like Robben's: ruclips.net/video/ukP5FTR-GdY/видео.html
I will take that into consideration, Christine! What you can do is go to that little gear underneath the video and slow the video down. That could also help you to learn what’s going on. When I look at the analytics of the videos that I have put the tabs on people bugger off, the video all together like three minutes into it so… It’s sometimes difficult to find the motivation to do all this work and nobody sees it. It’s nice to know at least one person appreciate it! Thanks again for your support.

Agree - first time I heard it decades ago I was completely blown away - and still love it
Robben Ford's time feel is incredible
So glad you enjoyed this video…

I recall learning this about 10 years ago and there is just an endless amount I gathered from it. Great video.

Nice work. Brilliant solo. Yes! :)
Thanks a lot!
Good lesson Professor, that's a great solo
Thanks so much, Gabriel!
Thank you kindly!

I wonder if he's recording on that beautiful Fender he's playing in the photo. Lovely, meaty tone!

So did you by chance start playing again?
Yes 3 weeks ago brought Tele elite in ash blond guess it should be easier to learn in 2024 than when it came out in 1988 !
Kick ass video. I love Robben's tasty playing and appreciate you breaking this solo down.

@@streetwiseguitar5113 ok cool! RF has great phrasing
I never listened to him in depth I'm sure he must have his own approach to playing 2 5s.
Good to see you back, man! Great breakdown on this one!
You the best!
I am such a pentatonic hack, I need to put the work in. This looks like a good place to start.😀

What shape of guitar and guitar brands do you recommend?
I think the best thing to do is to go to a reputable store, where a good sales person can help you determine which body style fits you well. They’ll also let you know which are the quality makes of guitar.
The multiple solos on Help the Poor (from the same album) may even be better.
