    🧚🏻 Late summer- early autumn
    WHAT ARE SEMI-RIPE CUTTINGS?
    🧚🏻 They are soft topped shoots of current season growth, firm and woody at the base.
    HOW TO DO IT?
    🧚🏻 Select healthy, vigorous soft topped shoots of current season growth, firm and woody at the base.
    🧚🏻 Cut just below a node. Remove leaves on lower third.
    🧚🏻 Stick the cutting into cutting compost.
    🧚🏻 Place it in a shady area or in a cold frame, but make sure it’s out of direct sun.
    🧚🏻 Keep cuttings damp and grow on until they have rooted.
    🧚🏻 You can tell that your plants have developed roots by the new growth and roots at the base of your plant pot.

    Thank you |Anya, this was a great video. And yes, you're right there is great satisfaction in propagating and growing your own plants. I am a real novice, but have recently enjoyed caring for new baby Pilea plants and passing them on to friends.

    Hi Anya- I saw your Instagram video about propagating hydrangeas and I knew I had to watch this one. One question though- I live in a colder place than you, Idaho/zone 6b. Should I leave the little plants outside this winter? It’s October but we’ve already had a light snow. Thank you so much for your videos. I have learned a lot.

    Hi Anna, thank you for the video and totally agree with the satisfaction when you actually grow your own plant. I am a novice and last year rooted hydrangea and Jasmin , I had mixed success but one of each survived!
    I used the wrong medium I think, please could you show exactly what you use and how you mix it next time ? Thank you so much and good luck with your channel.

    • @anyathegardenfairy
      @anyathegardenfairy  Год назад

      Fantastic! I always take more cuttings than needed, because not all survive and this way you still end up with a decent amount of plants :-)

    I think you may have done an IG reel on this I would love to see something on drying Hydrangea flowers. The flowers on my Brussels Lace hydrangea are darkening and I would love to cut them and to preserve them for a wreath or for a display whilst also propagating. I love all your content!

    Thank you so much. Simple and informative video about hydrangeas.
    Could we have a video on propagating basil? I have about eight plants. Some in pots others in larger vegetable beds that i used in the summer as a pest deterrent for veggies.
    Through the Summer I took most of the basil leaves. Now end of September what to do? Shall we keep the full plant with very few leaves or take cuttings?

    LOVE your channel! Please may I ask a stupid question (I'm new to gardening) I have finally got some strong cuttings from my grandparents Hydrangea. But what do I do now? Do I split every cutting? They are getting big so wish to pot on but I don't know how. Do I plant a few in a pot each or alone? Sorry to be so thick! These cuttings are so special to me & all I have of my grandparents so I don't want to lose them.

    • @anyathegardenfairy
      @anyathegardenfairy  Год назад

      Not a stupid question at all. Are they rooted cuttings or have you just taken them. I place a lot of cuttings in one pot. Have you seen my video how I do it?

    Hola Anya, yo tenía tres esquejes ya brotados y crecidos de Hydrangea del jardín de mi hija, como este verano fue verdaderamente caluroso acá en Argentina y las tengo en un balcón orientado al NO, cada vez que las veía caídas las regaba, no me daban flor y dos plantas de los tres se les cayeron las hojas y no se si prosperarán. Les cambié el sustrato, con pinocha, tierra y humus e igual las dejé en las macetas. Algún consejo? Recién encuentro en IG tu página y es muy interesante y útil, tanto que la estoy compartiendo. Gracias

    Nature is our Creator & our Creator is masculine (He, Him, His; Thee, Thy, Thou), not feminine ("mother nature" nonsense is not so). So, we let Nature do HIS thing, if we want to KNOW & share The TRUTH. Thank you for sharing the information/video.
