It's an interesting film, I think that would be of cultural importance to have a few artisans involved in making the "alfeñiques" with the original ingredients, because grenetine or gelatin is produced from animal bones of pigs or cows, and a totally vegan "alfeñique" as it originally was, make it healthier to consume.
I think that the documentary needs to be a little more lengthy to include more opinions and a broader perspective of the transculturation process that occurred during the colonization of Mexico, and the transculturation occurring today; both with the judeo-chistian values in the center of ideology where life is the main character of their story and thus the archenemy of whatever cultural expression that exalts death or murder. Today's "Día de Muertos" tradition and all that revolves around it, is really an euphemism or a christianisation of the ancient precolumbian cult of the Indian Kali deity of death and silent murder, clearly depicted in the center of the "Piedra del Sol" or Aztec calendar. Viva la vida!

Me "encanta" la irresponsabilidad con la que usan la palabra "apropiación cultural" para su documental cuando son prácticas impuestas por los colonizadores que a su vez ellos SÍ se apropiaron de otras culturas. Aunque tiene buenos datos históricos, me choca la zaña con la que el documentarista se expresa de NUESTRA cultura... Aunque no dudo que no sienta como suya nuestra tradición siendo que ni siquiera vive en México.
Me "encanta" como los mexicanos blanqueados que desprecian sus raíces se la dan de divulgadores culturales sin tener la responsabilidad necesaria para hablar sobre los temas y se nota al decir que no importa que la calavera de azúcar este siendo sustituida por la de chocolate cuando la calavera de azúcar tiene un significado y tiene una razón por la cual es de azúcar.
Ojalá, haya más gente que además de tener el privilegio del dinero para hacer un documental sin alma y odio, también tengan el privilegio de informarse con historiadores de manera correcta y si no viven ni siquiera en el territorio que al menos tengan la responsabilidad de no usar a la ligera la palabra "apropiación cultural"
Me quedo con lo poco interesante que tiene el documental y sólo desechar la zaña del señor. Tal vez nuestra sangre ya no sea totalmente azteca, otomí, etc pero seguimos siendo hijos de nuestra piel de bronce y ningún blanqueado tiene el derecho de como vivir y expresar NUESTRA bella cultura.
Si bien no somos los únicos que festejamos a los que partieron, le invitó a ponerme en la mesa una pieza realizada por otro artesano de otro país que festeje y vea la muerte igual que nosotros así que... Si somos únicos. 🥰
