One huge example of this is it’s karaoke feature in Apple Music. It removes vocals from songs in real time with almost perfect sound and no artifacts. Theres dedicated software and online services that do this slower and at the fraction of Apple’s quality.
Privacy....you nail it...our bet is most enterprises don’t want to send every company conversation to an AI transcription machine just to make video watchable. For the video you do, Umcheck is optional.
Really interesting video, Rafael. Someone told me recently actually that Apple is never first in the game, but when they release whatever they're working on, it ends up being ahead of the game. If only when we knew when they're going to make that leap 😅
That’s what you hear, when they are behind. Newton, iPod, iPhone and iPad are proof, that this is not strategy. When you look at Siri today, it’s a real shame for them. Hey Google, please try to explain Siri what I want. 😅
Very interesting. This space is evolving quicker than people can keep up so we need to stay as informed as we can. Privacy is by far the biggest issue. Bigger than capability imo. I’ve wondered before why Apple was using the term ‘neural’ so this does make some sense. Great video Rafael.
Killer episode.🔥Unique info. No one else has an explanation, although Steve Martin said he was very confident about what Apple is doing in secret and not to worry about FCP
Yes, yes, yes! Spot on. I've been saying the same to my partner and my circle of friends for the last couple of years. So glad you made this video. Thank you 😍
It also means all this on device processing can do it while you’re aware of it but not thinking that the true goal is much more sinister. Processing on device is taken for granted vs cloud based processing, people think it’s safer. But what if the device then sends smaller bits of data through to the cloud to be collected and compiled anyway. Behind your back. All the power done by you with the device in your possession. By using it you agreed to be betrayed.
I have a question please. It’s my understanding that no matter what phone or computer you use whether it’s Windows, or Apple Mac, they will all have A.I. stuff on them? Like there’s no way to keep it off or not have it on your devices. It’s going to be there whether we want it or not?
At this point yes. Unless you go with a basic phone that only calls. But they’ll find a way to jam it in there if it can make them money. For the time being I’m sticking with Apple as they seem to be the least intrusive with ai 🤖. Most of the processing happens in device and not sent to the cloud is you don’t want it. Thanks for watching and the comment Rayne!
Same REASON why I stuck with this company: I watched the growth, strategy and ecosystem synergy and software ease-of-use since the first devices. - meanwhile some stay away from Apple with some unexplained bias or see them as an arm of the government🤣🤣🤣
I absolutely agree. All their “AI” features so far work in the background and people don’t really notice. But their chips, efforts in device integration, ML models etc are a solid foundation for something big. If they make powerful enough chips maybe they could even for example use the cloud for general knowledge AI and on device computing for stuff that involves personal data. And lets not forget that even now siri is embedded everywhere. It can read, see and learn from everything we have on our all our devices (provided we gave permission of course).
A.I. = Apple. Intelligence. ;) It'll be lots of Machine learning and Neural Engine or something Applesque - They don't seem to like using A.I. But who knows! Thanks for watching and the comment!
Siri is not only stagnating but seems to be getting worse. I used to be able to send long texts or set reminders but the last year Siri can’t seem to get the get grammar or wording correct and makes corrections out of context.
In future connectivity will be so strong that we won't need on device high performance chip everything can and will be done on the cloud with unlimited performance that will feel native. That's y I don't agree with you
actually everything is pointing to on device for the real-time applications (which will be most) - Unlimited performance won't matter is there is lag or delay in the processing - if the data centre is half way across the country - best case scenario is 500ms round trip just for the data to get there, be processed, and be sent back. And that is with perfect internet connection - it'll be closer to 1 second in most cases. Internet speed is not getting faster, they are able to just send more data at once - but it's ultimately it's physically limited to the speed of light which still takes time to travel - so the best case is to have no travel time and keep it on device. It's the only way to make it feel real time. That is why NVIDIA, Tesla, Meta, Google, Intel are all pushing for on device computational power. If real time is not necessary then the delay is no problem but if it is - on device all the way! Thanks for watching and the comment Samuel!
@@RafaelLudwig most of the chips today are enough to take care of the milliseconds of delay but with ai, data set will be so huge that on device chips will struggle to cope up. So we need the power of cloud that's where Nvidia's latest grasshopper chips come into play. So for most basic tasks many chips can handle it on device but for the rest we need cloud. So the chip and processor war among companies will be over in few years. It's just there for few more years.
@@RafaelLudwig remote rendering is getting pretty good. If you can just stream your cloud OS which has access to all sensors on device it will be enough. Because in the end everything is about what you see. Tesla and other ai companies use it to train their data which is done on the cloud. Without the cloud and ai powering it the on device chip will only be good for what you do now with your phone Or laptop
Maybe not apple, but if you use android or any google services you are helping google. If you have ever done a CAPTCHA you have helped. Thanks for watching and the comment!
I was disappointed by the Apple conference. About the ai chip I was more impressed by the Nvidia grasshopper but it's available only for enterprise. If Nvidia offers it to regular customers then I would love to build my new pc on top of Nvidia
I very much doubt that Apple is using neural engine of their customer devices to learn/improve their cloud AI, IMO that wouldn't be legal - my reasoning is that doing any calculation on customer device will cost the customer e.g. electricity, device resource, thus customer will be paying out of pocket... this would be similar to a hacker using infected computers to mine for crypto coins
This time Apple has been sleeping too much….they ve always been introducing tech after others competitors…refining the tech, but with Ai this axiom doesn’twork….Ai is moving at the speed of light, and apple is way behind
I’m not really interested in the video so I didn’t watch it but I do want to ask.(because I’m curious) What is Apple’s secret plan? Can somebody tell me
Linux is the only operating system that will give you privacy and security and it's FREE. People are too lazy to learn anything different now... The American way is: Fast Easy FREE....
All good, question though what specifically did I say in the video that was so outrageous? Point of the video is apple is using Federated Learning to train their ML Models. Is that incorrect or is it something else? I want to get better so any help is welcome. Either way thanks for watching and the comment Edmond!
Microsoft is using AI in all of their productivity suites, their Edge browser, and their bing search engine.. Apple has fallen behind. They need to catch up to Microsoft.
FINALLY! Someone else that sees what I’ve seen for YEARS (I also work in tech so..)
At this point it just seems obvious! But not many are talking about it.

Very interesting thoughts Rafael!
Apple likes to make up their own words for technology. Instead of AI it's a "neural engine," and AR/VR is "spatial computing." 🙄
Thanks for the video! Even viewing it 11 months after it came out it is still one of the more insightful videos on these topics!
Thanks for watching and the nice comment!
Even their eye ID detection in their Apple Vision Pro is a way to collect data even further than the competition.
what? isn't supposed to be encrypted and storage in the internal security chip?
If they can get these things to not hallucinate, I can see something like LLMs replacing current operating systems all together.
Interesting video

Vision Pro is definitely going to train AI to track the gaze of those around the user.
Something no one noticed is that the number of times ai is mentioned by apple is 0. They never did this even with the vision pro.

What happens when this stuff has been around for centuries and as you and I, it is only our first experiences with this stuff. Chilling
Kudos to Apple to actually calling it Machine Learning, instead of the Hyper Marketer's "AI" nonsense.
Next big disruption from Apple may not be AI but payments and financial services.
Perhaps, but their card isn't doing so hot right now, so we'll see.
