Drag is not a contact sport. But apparently you can be forced underwater even if you don't know how to swim (Jinkx) or have no fucking clue how to do this (Alaska). S5 is my fave, but this challenge just seems silly and poorly thought out.

I wear contacts and am super blind without them. I would also be super salty if I got in that water and lost my contacts bc those hoes are expensive. I would have asked for some goggles then I’d have been fine
Georgia C I wear contacts and they are so so so expensive. And if you lose one, you may as well say goodbye to the both of them because being half blind is trippy as shit.
Just saying that the first thing people should teach you is that contacts arent supposed to be near water, since a single tear can make em go away. Its Common sense.

True but at least its just mini challenge.
Well, the thing is yu don’t need to know how to swim, but how to dive, which is like four times harder.
They should know its a survivor law
Oh please, if you don't know how to sew, act, improvise, sing, dance or do stand up comedy, you probably suck on DragRace but if you don't know how to ride a bicycle, cook, clean and swim, then you suck at life. Don't US children learn how to swim at school? Because we do that in class 2 already, and most parents send their children to swimming class in kindergarten already because it such a basic skill everybody should have.
The way Alaska was almost too disappointing in this challenge and ended up being one of the strongest players both in this season and in AS2 🙌🏼
She should have been in the bottom two for that but favoritism...

I'm gonna be honest, I think alaska singlehandedly lost season 5 in this challenge when she refused to continue and gave up.
@@tal9139 No matter how talented she is, that first impression really sticks with you. I can't even begin to understand why a queen auditioning for five seasons would give up on the first challenge, that gives the impression that you don't truly want to be there, which contradicts what you've been doing up until that point!

They Put weights on underwater models
And here everyone is flying to the top
I have done many underwater fashion shoots and actually have never put weights on the models in a shallow pool like this. It sounds horrible, but the model is told/trained to blow out half of the air in her lungs right as she goes down. This keeps her from floating up right away and also prevents air bubbles from covering the face once the initial blowout clears. She's down in average for only 5-10 secs at a time. But again, this is with training. The queens here were probably just put into the water without pre-direction.
When Jinkx came in evryone was like :”she is wearing a swimsuit, that is not good drag”
Me when i see the minichallenge: ”JOKES ON YOU, JINKX HAD THE RIGHT OUTFIT!”

I felt sorry for Alaska. She was so frustrated. She is truly a perfectionist.
Whenever Alaska doesn’t do well at something, she goes into this whole mood that feeds on itself and she spirals... I’m not sure if I feel very sorry for her because of that
If she were a perfectionist she'd keep trying until she got it right. However, she gave up instead of asking for direction.

As Long As All The Queens Know How To Swim, Then Sure. I Feel Like If The Producers Want To Do A Challenge Like This Again, Then They Need To Inform Queens Beforehand Or Before They Even Get On The Show Because Not Everyone Can Swim Nor Can See Underwater. Some People Are Even Afraid Of Water In Big Areas Like Pools

Willamette Anderson Dude it’s pretty obvious. Rupaul literally gasped - and we could see with our own eyes how fierce she looked and the water was perfectly undisturbed. He either was a bad photographer and didn’t get the shots when he should have, or more likely they purposefully picked a clunky photo because they were trying to craft who won.

As a professional muse and content model, I can tell you that underwater photography is one of the hardest things to do; the trick is to think about how you look to the camera instead of how you act to it; forget your natural facial expressions and focus on shaping your eyes and mouth to what you know they want to see on that finished product.
Two near death experiences for Jinkx in one episode: first she almost drowns and then the dumpster lid almost cracks her head open.
