Amy Adams Goes All In

- It’s hard to believe that the linguistics professor translating aliens in Denis Villeneuve’s Arrival, the con-woman with fluctuating accents in American Hustle, and the troubled reporter with a turbulent past in HBO’s Sharp Objects were all played by an actress that also sang with the Muppets. Amy Adams’ versatility is matched only by her commitment to these incomparable roles. A talented actress makes you believe her performance; a great one like Adams makes you forget she’s performing altogether. Her acting is convincing no matter what role she takes on precisely because she’s not trying to convince the audience that what she’s doing is real. It is as though she truly is experiencing the events unfolding on screen. From goofy Will Ferrell comedies and offbeat Spike Jonze films, to dark arthouse thrillers and Paul Thomas Anderson dramas, Amy Adams always goes all in. And we love her for it.
For more of our ongoing series, “The Gush,” take a look at our odes to other impeccable performers, like Toni Collette, Aubrey Plaza, Angela Bassett, Christina Ricci, Michelle Yeoh, Jennifer Connelly, and Isabella Rossellini. - Развлечения
Fun Fact: Amy Adams was nominated for the same number of Oscars as Leonardo DiCaprio in half the amount of time.
let's all hope that she can get an oscar in half the time as well because she really deserves it
6 times now!
i will ALWAYS say this!! amy could easily do the revenant, but leo would NEVER be able to do enchanted
Leo DiCaprio not getting an Oscar was a meme. That how bad it was...
@@neriumoleander8188 Amy can't do whats eating Gilbert grape.
I still don't understand how Emma Stone won an Oscar for La La Land when Amy Adams didn't even get a nomination for Arrival. Arrival only worked because of Adams' phenomenal talent - we weren't ever guessing at what she might be feeling we just felt along with her.
she was an absolute revelation in Arrival. I was pretty neutral on her before, probably in part because I hadn't seen many of her other serious dramatic roles, but after Arrival I have become I complete fan
Sorry but Emma Stone was brilliant in La La Land.
I wholly agree that Adams deserved a nom, she was fantastic. But there were way weaker links in the Lead Actress category than Emma Stone
@xisobelx373 i have since and she is great in it!
@@FreakieFan meryl streep 😑😑
@@Surajsingh-kw5se
One of Streep's best performances IMO. Definitely worth a nom.
It's a known fact that no one hates Amy Adams. I mean look at her. So lovable and amazing!
I know 3 women who can't stand her. For no reason. I don't understand.
Jealousy?
Weird. Only girls seem to dislike her. I guess some girls just like to hate other girls who seem perfect and good natured, for no reason. It has to be jealousy or insecurity.
Fadhil Ramadhani eeee
I freaking adore her in Enchanted. I thought that she was just a Disney type given that movie was out when I was young. Didn't know she has so so much in her.
How come Jennifer Lawrence has an oscar and Amy Adams doesn't
Dav Apar...Amen!! 🙌🏻
YES!!!
You don’t have to put down another person to bring Amy Adams up.
Can we please appreciate the work of an actress without putting down others?
Because real and important people don’t win Oscars. Oscars is for losers.
That Arrival snub must be one of the worst mistakes the Academy has even made. She truly deserved to win that Oscar.
Instead they nominated Meryl Streep for the ten thousandth time smh
Timothee chalamet in Beautiful boy was a huge snub this year too
Arrival was snubbed for sure, poor Amy she didn't even nominated for her breathtaking performance but tbh Emma Stone was great that year (just my opinion though)
Oh yes!
Amy doesn’t need an Oscar to be validated. Anyone paying attention already knows that she’s one of the best actors of our time.
it’s still nice to see someone that deserves it get an oscar (not saying anyone didn’t deserve their oscar coz they worked for it but still)
Well said. Academy doesn't give oscar to tom hanks and denzel anymore. But they r legend right. People need to understand an award is just a piece of metal.
of all time*
😂😂😂😂😝 Nope
The Oscars are about as meaningful as the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. The whole thing's a Hollywood joke.
She is an amazing actress. She deserves an Oscar for sure. After watching her in Sharp Objects she has convinced me even further that she deserves an Oscar.
Sharp Objects would win her an Emmy
She's probably gonna get an Emmy before she gets an Oscar, lol (:
That look of her towards her mother while sitting in the dinner (Sharp Objects) is what convinced me that she deserves an Oscar.
She should win an emmy.
Sharp Objects best show I've ever seen.
Give her an Oscar already. Long overdue.
Sometimes I think that the Oscars are ripped.
Why does everyone care so much about this? Oscars don't mean anything. Everyone knows it, and complains that the wrong people get them, but then they still act like they matter.
Nizar Noor maybe she won’t eat the shit!?
They will end up giving her an oscar for an "easy" role in a blockbuster. Usually happens with overdue awards, they give them to the right actors for the wrong roles
@@usagi18 so true. Judi Dench, Jeff Bridges, Laura Dern, Julianne Moore, Al Pacino etc. All excellent actors who won for the wrong roles.
First saw her in enchanted and I totally believed she was an animation come to life. She's an inspiration 💕
Maybe i shouldve stayed with tesi at least i had fun with her and most importantly in real interaction physical in real.... rather than getti g emotionally destroyed by people who want sth else and destroy you if u sdont keep up.... but they see it differently... well they are wrong
@@fredericmoresmau4303 ?
Best Disney movie. No argument necessary
She’s one of those actors that literally just acts in movies and does a great job and doesn’t get involved in scandals or annoys us with overbearing charisma. And might I add that she stays serving us looks 4 daysssss. I don’t know why, I just can’t pick up any dirt on her, I don’t think she’s here to play Hollywood games lol.
Sharp Objects has been showcasing her talent all season.
You're SO right on about Amy's timing of her lines. I've found she's a natural poet, instilling almost a kind of mild iambic pentameter to her dialogue. Listen to her nighttime confrontation of Swanwick in BvS, and how she delivers, "I went into the desert and people died./ It keeps me awake; it *should* ."
Hard Boiled Entertainment stop using terms you don't understand.
@@jeremyjohnson8844 LOL
I loved that line
Why is that bad?
The time she convinced me she's really talented when I saw her performance in Doubt and right after The Fighter...... Two totally different role to play....KILLED IT!!!!! With or without Oscar her talent is undeniable!
She is by far my favourite actress. It's funny how people constantly talk about how underrated she is and how she hasn't won an Oscar or whatever, but it's not true. People know how good she is, they know her talent, they appreciate it and she actually is a very profitable actress, so I feel like she's past that stage where she could be defined by having or not having an Academy award, which is exactly where you wanna get.
She’s amazing. I especially love scenes where she doesn’t have any dialogue and it just shows her powerful convey of emotions and facial expressions. Not many actresses/actors are very good at that but she absolutely kills it. Especially with every character she plays it never feels forced she’s just a natural more than what she credits herself for.
HER MIND IS JUST TO POWERFUL
arrival is a masterpiece
It should have been 6 time Academy Award nominee.
7, including Enchanted.
deaetee 7 times, 2 time winner for junebug and the fighter or arrival
8, including Vice!
She made the sharp objects protagonist likeable. She rewritten a character.
Her performance in sharp objects has left me speechless. I kept on watching that series for her.
My favorite actress
My favorite actress. She really made “Arrival” life-changing for me. As far as “Nocturnal Animals” goes, my monocle was SNATCHED. 😭
All of you watch Sharp Objects, she's AMAZING AMY in it. (if you watched Gone Girl you'll understand)
Melody Maker the show is terrible but she’s good in it if that makes sense.
Natalie Zayas-Bazan if you don't like it that's fine but it's not terrible.
Melody Maker the show is priceless !!. 🌷
Natalie Zayas-Bazan Just ended watching last episode. This show is the best I'v seen this year. Amy is beyond incredible in it! The director Jean-Marc Valee is my vavorite now.
Melody Maker she didn't act gone girl it was rosemand pike
After watching Sharp Objects, I am thoroughly convinced Amy Adams is the best actress working in Hollywood today.
She looks the same in every movie but different... It's all about the gestures. It's amazing.
one of her underrated masterpieces is Enchanted; major props to her for playing Giselle's sweet, naive and loving character straight and not winking at the camera
It's a mortal sin and mark against Hollywood that our princess has only got five Oscar nominations (she deserved one for Enchanted, and another for either Arrival or Nocturnal Animals--take your 2016 pick)...and ZERO WINS. Seriously, Academy: What is WRONG with you?!?
I agree. I believe she deserved one for Enchanted, and should've won the Golden Globe for that!
Deserved one also for Big Eyes.
And for Arrival and American Hustle definitely
@@atithikumari9893 She was nominated for American Hustle
@@Hard_Boiled_Entertainment yeah I meant Oscar for both
To me it's always her voice that draws attention first. I don't need to look at the screen to know Amy Adams is in a tv/film/video/interview, immediately. It's like listening to something made up of completely different material, it's like the only jewel in a box of stones.
Her voice tenders your soul. (Male counterpart example: Tom Hiddleston)
Her look is just one of those red heads, I have to watch for a while to realize: oh, it's Amy Adams, her acting looks awesome, too.
Oh, I can pick her soft, angelic face and her wide, honest eyes (and her cute upswept nose) out of a crowd. I honestly don't see how anyone could confuse her for Isla Fisher, for example....
@@Hard_Boiled_Entertainment its the start of the nose/eyebrows and the faceshape. oh and of course the red hair
In her even though she is just a supporting character with little screen time she is so great! I love the scenes with her.
PLUS: she spoke up on the set of Sharp Objects when she was she saw mistreatment of her stand in, PLUS PLUS, she gave up her seat on first class to a soldier on her ✈️ flight. Class act all the way!
she's my favourite actress since Enchanted
One of my favorite actress.
I wish you guys had mentioned Doubt. Another amazing Adams performance.
now she is a six time academy awards nominee.
It's hard to understand why Amy Adams doesn't have an Oscar. Personally I still keep going back to Junebug. It's one of the most utterly mesmerising performances I have ever seen.
You know it's a range when you can play (and make it work) from a singing princess in Enchanted to Superman's girlfriend to Lynne Cheney.
A great, great actress !
The fine motor control she has over her jaw muscles in that scene from The Master is crazy.
Amy Adams is a goddess among mere mortals.
Nerdy Amy Adams in HER is more amazing than words can describe. Like an enigma.
She mesmerized me in American Hustle.
I adore her so much!
She truly is a goddes of acting
She was robbed every single year! She deserved all those Oscars!
yea she made me tear up so many times during sharp objects
I'd loved her for years.
Shes my favorite actress of all time!!! From sing-song movies to suspense to heavy drama, Amy doesn't go short of creative tricks whenever shes on screen. Maybe the reason why she couldn't get an Oscar (which is unjustifiable) is because whenever shes nominated there's always this other actress who has more dramatic dialogues and show-offy scenes also nominated. Take the win of Anne Hathaway for Les Miserables over her in The Master for example. But time and time again, Amy continues to prove that she is worthy of that gold.
I've just been in awe since the time I first saw her mesmerizing on screen performance..her interviews are a delight to the eyes as well..
from Enchanted to The Masters. Comedy to drama. Yes Amy can do anything for sure!
I love her She’s amazing I cried watching this because she’s so talented
She is one of the sexiest actress I have ever seen
It's always nice to see Amy Addams appreciation. It's like she's well-known, but not at the same time
My favourite modern actress
The Master is a powerful performance. Its her best, and I think she should have won the big O for that one.
Ever since I saw her for the first time in Enchanted as a child my life was changed, she is phenomenal. No live-action Disney film will ever match her.
She had a guest appearance in Buffy The Vampire Slayer, playing Tara's cousin. I met Amber Benson, who played Tara, at a convention and she said Amy Adams was really lovely.
Amy Adams is superb in everything. She has never given a bad performance.
I've loved her for a long time. Sharp Objects is magnificent.
YES! Agree 100% with her ability to deliver lines with magnitude!!! That's what i love about her the most!
wikipedia rightfully made her the topic of the day
Make this why we love actor/actress a series! 🔥🔥🔥
I watched her first in Enchanted and yes I was enchanted. All because of her and I knew she will be my favourite forever. Then I looooove her Julie and Julia. Her comic timing is amazing, so are her amazing serious roles. Such as in Doubt. She is so versatile and the Oscars are a joke. She doesn't need such validation to know she is great.
And her nose is perfection
Cool but River Phoenix has the most perfect nose imo
she is a legend !
Give her an Oscar already!
She's deserved to win every one of her oscar nominations and more in my opinion! She's also such a humble and genuine person, I love her!
Maybe that's why she hasn't won those awards. Too bright of a light... Genuine and humble. The world is run by the wicked.
Oscar can't define the persona of these actors 🙌
one of my favorite actreeses in hollywood
She's so good in Sharp Objects!
I enjoyed the heck out of that show. I'lll eat Amy Adams up.
Yes, she really cuts it in that.
so many teeth-snatching moments in that show
I still pissed the fact that she didnt get any sjngle oscar...she deserve it...when u look at all her oscar nomination movies performance u cam tell at least she deserve two out of five...other medium actress also gets it easily but she is easily the most versatile actress in ths industry
Yes! I agree! She deserved at least two out five of those nominations!
She's great, her commedies are funny as well.
Yes, one of our time's best. If not the best. Love her.
She has always been my favourite....
Everyone loves Amy♥️..she's just the best actress of the era..she deserves every Oscar for all her amazing performances
My all time favourite!!❤
I love whatever she do.. she's a magic
we want .. we NEED another tv show with amy adams as main character , sharp object was thrilling , too good ... ever since peaky blinders no other show has captivated my mind this way , i loved amy adams in sharp objects too bad there won't be a season 2 , but would totaly be on board if she's in another tv show
i think the first film i ever saw her in was miss pettigrew lives for a day and i fell in love. seriously, her chemistry with lee pace was incredible, and the duet they sing "if i didn't care" gets me right in the chest every single time i watch it. that movie is so delightful!
She had my heart when I saw “Julie and Julia” hilarious and sad at the same time. Loved it ❤️
“She doesn’t do throw away lines”. Kinda says it all. Great talent, any movie w her. Change my mind.
Amazing Amy!
I absolutely adore her..such a powerhouse of talent...my favorite performance of her is "Junebug". Such a refreshing portrayal of contagious innocence. Also no one portrays female vulnerability as well as her may be with the exception of Meryl and may be Kidman.
Great damn movie I love all of them
Amy Adam's the boss
First saw Amy Adams in a episode guest role in Smallville early 200s I didn't know her name but I always kept seeing her in several other TV series, then junebug movie and finally Enchanted in 2007! She has polished her craft through the years
She fucking nailed a Disney Princess role. Top that.
I like actresses who deliver measured dialogue lines like Amy Adams and also Jeniffer jason leigh comes to my mind.
A very underrated Amy Adams film was Sunshine Cleaning (2008), where she gave a stellar performance along with Emily Blunt.
Nice summary of Amy.
she is truly amazing
Truly one of the greats.
She doesn't need an Oscar at all. She's beyond that.
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE HER!
No Oscar doesn't change the fact that she's a great actress 😊
I love her, she is so perfect
In the loving memory of Amy Adams, she ain't dead but award shows think she is...
God she's FANTASTIC.
Finally a video appreciating this brilliant and actress! She is criminally underrated in all the award shows for merely being nominated but almost never winning!
And that's why I love her the most...🥰😍🤩
the perfect video to describe this magnificently talented actress on her birthday!
I'm a fanboy too. She is an incredible talent.
As opposed to many great actors, Amy Adams almost always chooses great scripts. And as far her talent, I could watch her read the phone book.
