Another great episode, this show quickly became a must watch in my schedule. Great interview and great commentary, literally the only podcast I make time for.
Someone needs to tell Jirard to stop staring into the camera, it's pretty creepy. Stare offscreen like everyone else, looking at who is speaking or who youa re replying to. Kind of unsettling being creeped at.
@Skill Up, You guys don't listen. Then you Miss- Narrate what you heard! Listening is a "Skill" that Skill Up doesn't have! I hope no one from The XBOX Division, ever grants you guys an interview, ever again!
I really like this interview format. I feel like a lot of the details of an interview get lost in the moment, and this retrospective breakdown really helps highlight them.
My one worry is that an interview format like this is really demanding since they have to: * Do the interview * Re-watch the interview to chunk it out * Record their commentary over the interview
I like it because it breaks it up and sometimes interviewees aren't terribly engaging. No offense to anyone involved but that one interview with the Devolver guy was the most bored I've ever been listening to anything video game related. Maybe it was his accent/sleepy demeanor, but I ended up scrubbing through that one after a bit.
I like the structure too, I like how they sorta review and talk about it immediately after that subject instead of doing it at the end. Kinda like drinking your water after taking that bite ya know, makes for a more enjoyable experience than eating the whole meal and then chugging that water if that makes sense lmao
Not gonna lie, the guests you guys pick for those interviews are STELLAR! I loved every single one of them, despite not knowing some of them at all😅 Love your podcast SO MUCH!🖤🔥
Matt seems like a great guy. Perfect for his position too as we can see how passionate he is about game development. It's great hearing him say things like how he always wants to give games a chance because he knows people work better when they're working on something they care about.
Absolutely love the new interview format!! Before we never really got your view and opinions on the interviewe's answers. It was the interview, then it was done and move on. But with this new format we actually see what you guys think about the answers, so yeah, definitely stick to this!
Same. I loved it too. Whenever I see someone do an interview I am always curious to find out what they thought of it later or elaborate more on it. So this feels perfect.
I'd like to see another video with just the interview. At times I forgot they were even interviewing anyone, with the topic changing multiple times before returning to Matt.
Haha, I don't skip anything. But I get it. But I would still recommend you to check out the interviews from the earlier episodes because they were really insightful.
I love the interviews in whatever form you present them. The interviews are a part of the podcast I wasn't really expecting when the show launched but now they are one of my favorite things about Friends Per Second.
This particular interview format is by far the best I've seen. it's really cool seeing your thoughts on what has been said, if it does not inconvenience you, please keep it up. Great episode as always!
Definitely liked this new commentary style interview. But I come to this Podcast to hear you 4 talk about games so hearing your input after the interviewee is great
This post commentary after inerview is working for me for reasons being: 1) its fixes the pacing issues i have with these types of feature interviews that feels like a monotonous Q&A from a pageant show. 2) You guys can further examine/ internalize their takes which gives/adds different pov on the subject.
The format of the interview portion was a good choice. It gave me more time and context to process the conversation. Which helped me to understand the scope and points of view for all parties involved. It may not be necessary all the time, but it was welcome here.
LOVE the new format for interview! The pre/post was superb and totally different from all the other podcasts going around. Sets you apart. Please keep it going like that.
Love the Matt Booty DVD commentary style interview. It's a really unique way to present an interview that I've never really seen before. Good work, legends 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
*Interview Format* : Loved it! I am someone who whenever sees someone do an interview I am always curious to find out what they thought of it later or elaborate more on it. So this feels perfect. And the way it's edited is also nice. Back and forth. Though I can definitely see some people not liking that because they want to focus on just the interview but I liked it because I liked hearing you guys elaborating on things directly after the questions were done. Instead of it being added towards the end or something like that.
Loved the interview format. THANK YOU for having everyone on screen. Love seeing everyone’s listening faces and held back smiles when they want to meme but can’t because it’s a big kid interview!!!!
I honestly loved the replay format during the interview. A lot of the details go over my head during an interview after its over so to get all your insight like that is even better its more content from you all! My favorite!!! Keep up the AMAZING job!!!
This interview structure was great, and so was the interview itself! I loved that part where Skill Up asked for the release date of Starfield and how 3-3-23 makes perfect sense since "Todd Howard loves that shit." Didn't think he'd actually say that lol 😂
Excellent questions, amazing format. Also, Ralph was such an intimidating interviewer lol. His face was like, " Yeah mate don't gimme any BS or I'll stuff vegemite in your mouth."
I just got to the part of the podcast where Ralph says he thinks people tune in for the work he does and not for him. I just wanna say that is absolutely not true. It's a combination of putting out fantastic content while being a genuinely likeable person that makes your channel so enjoyable. Same goes for everyone on the show. In fact, ever since I started watching Jake's content on gameranx, I always thought it'd be great to meet up and grab a beer and talk video games some time. Do not underestimate how much your personalities impact your output.
whenever Jake says pizzas on me I am like ,I always thought he would be great to hang out with. but me being an introvert probably be awkward as I don't get out much or drink. 😅
Loved the interview format, and really appreciated how honest Matt was. Seemed like he answered the questions honestly and wanted to have a real conversation, rather than just giving out PR statements.
I really liked how you commented on each interview segment, it's easier to keep in mind what was talked about and you can comment on each topic without potentially forgetting which can easily happen if it's all in one go.
That interview format is kind of great, I hope you continue with that, this is like one of the most chill podcast, great work that all you guys do here.
regarding the new structure: I didn't see how different it was at first, but I think I like it better. it allows info from each section to be talked about without being forgotten or having to interrupt another conversation, and I think it'd grow on people given a few more chances
I really really liked how this interview was done. The analysis afterwards and getting the takes of people who couldn't actually be their but still have great insights is a huge boone. Hope you guys do more like this in the future.
The retrospective interlaced throughout the interview is fantastic. Helps retain more of the information from the interview while also allowing some extra discussion from the four of you. Hope you guys continue it when someone like Matt Booty is on.
I loved the new commentary style of the interview. I like to hear your opinion on the topics of the conversation and, for me, it's more engaging to hear it in-parallel. Thumbs up, definitely.
Ralph ive been watching you for a long time and you actually are the reason I watch this channel. There are tons of other game news sources but youve always been honest and consistent plus our taste in games line up very well.
I strongly preferred the interview structure here over what has been done in the past. Loved it, it was easier to digest and actually absorb. Highly recommend doing it again in the future.
I very much liked this "interview" format. It gave us not only the key shares from the interview itself, but afforded us your retrospective discussion on those key points, _and_ give us the fun scattershot conversation that branches off from it before you guys wrangle each other back on topic :0) I like that stuff. It's casual, entertaining, and fun. Great format, and I think it's now my preferred version for this. I tune in because I like hearing you all do your thing _and_ bounce off of each other. While a traditional interview 'reel' works fine, this is the best of both worlds, and offers the most entertainment:information value. Great job!
I really enjoyed the format! Great to 'stop the tape' and dive into comments just after they were said. perfectly paced too 👌🏼 great interview, great podcast! 🎉
This intervew format is way better!! It's more dynamic. I love hearing your thoughts on each part of the Interview, makes it more interesting and easier to digest. Also before it felt like it was just placed and forgotten in the middle of The show but now it's an integral part of the episode
The interview format was really good. Instead of having to watch the whole thing to wait for everyone's opinion, it was nice to have it piece by piece. Felt like whoever wasn't there for the interview got to interact a bit more which was a nice change.
The intro was excellent today haha. Also hope Lucy's wrist issue isn't too bad longterm. I've been struggling with that for a year now and wouldn't wish it on anyone, especially not people who love video games.
I love the post game interview format for the bigwigs. The nature of those interviews is that you have to keep them moving, so it's nice having you guys take the time to parse some of those answers.
As one who does interviews in the music arena interviews in "longform casual" ish are where I love to listen! Opening up the guest in a relaxed way but equally you get a chance at a high profile industry leader you work with what's on offer! 1 hour of their time and boundaries in place then in this case it works well
The DVD commentary style is actually so great. It really lets the interview air out and adds a lot of interesting conversation rather than letting all these tidbits just go under the radar
Really like the interview structure this time. Kept what was being talked about fresh in the brain rather than trying to remember parts from 30 minutes ago lol.
That format greatly works for those guests who have less time and more traditional Q/A’s as a result. Cutting back to your observations on their answers is a cool choice
Interesting interview format. I personally prefer the more organic flow of having it as one conversation. However, everyone else does that and I'm enjoying the fresh take. Nice one!
I like the breakdowns of the segment with Matt Booty. It helped with digesting his words, and was a lot more interesting than just a normal interview. Keep up the great work FPS!
Many of us at 343 told Matt Booty directly multiple times over the course of development that Infinite wasn't going to be up to snuff, and practically begged for him to step in and fix leadership to avoid disaster. One of my favorite show on RUclips. Just so chill and nice to hear about video games in this format. Also, the interview "review" format worked really nicely as you guys said for a shorter more answer-based interview, as opposed to a more conversation-based interview. Maybe a little sound design on transitions between interview and post comments would help, especially for people listening to audio form only. Cheers !

I really like this new style of interview. It was always so jarring in previous interviews where Ralph ask 99% of the questions then 3/4 way through you hear Lucy for a split second and the camera is on her and you're like "holy crap Lucy was here the whole time??!"
Loving the braid Jirard. I used to braid my beard (I've sadly recently cut it) and would get compliments all the time since you don't really see anyone braid facial hair anymore for some reason. Keep it going! Great podcast episode as always everyone!
opening banter - supreme; interview commentary format - interesting/really good; from a listeners perspective it's unique and attention grabbing; def stands out from the myriad of other gaming podcasts; looking forward to seeing it being used in the future and potential iterations
I really enjoyed the commentary style interview, I thought it was cool getting your guys' thoughts in the moment. Loving the podcast so please keep it up!
This is the first episode I watch, and the format of the interview was really engaging and something I’ve never watched before. Truly a great podcast :D
I like that interview format of jumping in and out of the interview and commenting/giving your thoughts on statements. It makes more interesting I think.
I really enjoyed this interview format. I don't think it works for every single type of interview, but it worked perfectly here. Keep up the good work 😁💪
Really needed this pick me up! Just lost my engineering software job of 10 years Tuesday, along with about 20 others who were laid off. It was brutal because we didn't get to tell anyone goodbye unless we had their personal phone numbers. Thankfully I was able to give my farewells to everyone I was really close to because I had most of their personal contact info. I honestly never enjoyed the job so in a way I'm glad. I would like to get involved with video games.
Thanks for shouting out Potionomics been playing it off and on. Excellent writing with fun characters and stunning animations. It's one of those games that I find my self saying, Ok just one more day and I'll go to bed.

The Over-40 Gaming Podcast, is the way this episode begins with all the complaints. I feel your various pains my friends!
Hahaha
You would've said "over 30" 10 years ago
@J M call of duty is the best war shooter right now. What a time to be alive 🥴

Absolutely bored out of my mind in work today, This podcast couldn't have arrived at a better time. Love you lot!
Same.
you need to hang drywall. won;t be bored
Best way to present an interview! Keeps it engaging and I don’t want to skip (like I usually do😂)
Haha, I don't skip anything. But I get it.
But I would still recommend you to check out the interviews from the earlier episodes because they were really insightful.
Please always do this format for interviews! Really helps to tie in your thoughts and let us know what you all think. Excellent!
I love the interviews in whatever form you present them. The interviews are a part of the podcast I wasn't really expecting when the show launched but now they are one of my favorite things about Friends Per Second.
I feel so happy when I get that notification of a new FPS pod episode
AND ITS A DAY EARLY TOO!
The DVD commentary breakdown of the interview was so good that Matt Damon might have to thank you for single handedly reviving the DVD industry
I actually really liked the reactions to the questions after they are answered. Super cool format that you don't often get from interviews.
This particular interview format is by far the best I've seen. it's really cool seeing your thoughts on what has been said, if it does not inconvenience you, please keep it up. Great episode as always!
Yes
Jake is savage just laughing at everyone's pain 🤣
As i turned 31 this year, i can confirm the debuff effect is real on Life permadeath mode...

I absolutely loved the format! I can see running some interviews without any cuts depending on the context, but PLEASE do more of this!
*Interview Format* : Loved it! I am someone who whenever sees someone do an interview I am always curious to find out what they thought of it later or elaborate more on it. So this feels perfect. And the way it's edited is also nice. Back and forth.

Love this whole podcast but Jake and Ralph consistently on content together is just so so good
Loved the interview format, and really appreciated how honest Matt was. Seemed like he answered the questions honestly and wanted to have a real conversation, rather than just giving out PR statements.
Loved the new interview format, helps break up the longer talks into more concise bite-sized pieces
The structure of the interview is great. I felt it paced it well, with good breaks in between talking points and questions.
Love the new format, you guys get more deep into what he said, fleshes it out and then continue. Awesome idea.
I like this new way of Interview where you discuss the individual points after every key moment !!!
I absolutely adore this interview format and I hope you all stick with it
You guys really make the effort to improve every time. I didn't even realise that I wanted it, but the new interview format is way better.
regarding the new structure: I didn't see how different it was at first, but I think I like it better. it allows info from each section to be talked about without being forgotten or having to interrupt another conversation, and I think it'd grow on people given a few more chances

Yes! I love that this was uploaded today! This will get me through the work day thanks to all of the hosts! Love listening to yall
Really like the format from the interview. He's giving enough information to make me say "wait, let's talk about it real quick" and that was nice.
Carpal tunnel syndrome is a bitch. Surgery is rough too but it works.
This was a great structure for interviews. Much better than before.
I love the post game interview format for the bigwigs. The nature of those interviews is that you have to keep them moving, so it's nice having you guys take the time to parse some of those answers.
This podcast is really good. It was worth the months of secret practice. I wish more podcasters tried that hard to get it right.
Hey all,
Really appreciated the new format.
Always awesome to hangout with you all and chat about the industry.
Cheers 😁
As one who does interviews in the music arena interviews in "longform casual" ish are where I love to listen! The DVD commentary style is actually so great. It really lets the interview air out and adds a lot of interesting conversation rather than letting all these tidbits just go under the radar
This Week in Videogames is easily my best source for gaming news, you're doing god's work Ralph :D
COMMENTARY STYLE INTERVIEWS IS SUCH A WIN!
He did nothing. Infinite didn't "fall short" because of COVID. COVID actually helped as WFH limited the amount of interference direction could inflict. The real "worst case scenario" was terrible direction from Tim Longo, Troy Mashburn, Chris Lee, Jerry Hook et al, combined with completely absent studio leadership from Bonnie Ross, all of whom Matt Booty constantly supported unquestioningly despite mountains of feedback they were all failing.
yes, I am so totally sure you worked there, and that in either case, that your words are genuine and not at least massively biased.
PS - it would help if your words were not just typical halo fanboy drivel wrt 343 - its like every conspiract theory rolled into one post. kek
One of my favorite show on RUclips. Just so chill and nice to hear about video games in this format. Also, the interview "review" format worked really nicely as you guys said for a shorter more answer-based interview, as opposed to a more conversation-based interview. Love the dvd style commentary, a little confusing cause i thought the interview ended early but i like it cause that way u guys talk more in depth about each part of the interview
I like the format for the interviews going forward. Sometimes there's a lot to dissect and discuss. So picking some stoppping points, and giving your thoughts on it makes more sense then trying to recap the whole interview at the end.
At 9:27 I love the brief pause and then everybody nodding there head; like we all know beat saber is the main VR game everybody plays and loves
The interview format was absolutely spot on. That's it .. great show as usual btw.
The "DVD commentary" style of breaking down the interview was a great idea. Enjoying the podcast so far!
Another upvote for the new interview structure. 👍🏻
Made it much easier to follow the discussion rather than have all the discussion/analysis at the end.
Such a fun intro to the episode y’all! Love sharing in the pain of adult problems with you 😅
I really like this new style of interview. It was always so jarring in previous interviews where Ralph ask 99% of the questions then 3/4 way through you hear Lucy for a split second and the camera is on her and you're like "holy crap Lucy was here the whole time??!"
podcast getting better and better every week, love the pull back and commentary during interview
This format for the interview is so much better than before.
Loving the braid Jirard. I used to braid my beard (I've sadly recently cut it) and would get compliments all the time since you don't really see anyone braid facial hair anymore for some reason. Keep it going! Great podcast episode as always everyone!
Loved the interview format, you should absolutely keep it up moving forward!
opening banter - supreme; interview commentary format - interesting/really good; from a listeners perspective it's unique and attention grabbing; def stands out from the myriad of other gaming podcasts; looking forward to seeing it being used in the future and potential iterations
Much prefer that interview structure! That's a really nice way of breaking down that segment. Nice work guys
Yo I’m loving this podcast ya created👍 makes time go by so much faster!
The way you guys did this podcast is great! Really like how Matt says something then you guys give your input
I really enjoyed this interview format. I don't think it works for every single type of interview, but it worked perfectly here. Keep up the good work 😁💪
Really liking the interview back to discussion mix you guys are trying.

Sorry to hear that, mate. Hope you land somewhere great.
I like this format. The in between discussions and then comments.
It’s amazing. The pure interview while interesting bores me to tears. This is superior in every way.
Signalis has completely gripped me. My girlfriend and I have alternate saves and we both love this experience so far.
I’m all in on the new interview format, works really well 👍🏻
I like this format because I feel like there's more interaction going on and it's more fun to listen/watch.
Love the interview format and thoroughly loving this podcast. Great work to all involved.
Thanks for shouting out Potionomics been playing it off and on. Excellent writing with fun characters and stunning animations. It's one of those games that I find my self saying, Ok just one more day and I'll go to bed.
First time listening to this podcast! Loving it. That interview format was very dynamic and easy to listen to. Great idea!
