I started my journey last September but discovered so many annoying issues with it. I have severe allergies to Aveda, CurlSmith and Verb. I have tried AG, Bounce Me, Ouidad, Briogeo, Ouia, Pattern of Beauty and Kérastase. My scalps burns like someone set it on fire when I use Aveda, Curlsmith and Verb, and it doesn’t burns but flakes up, or shed when I use Kerastase (the shampoos only so I am guessing I am allergic to sulfates) I have a coarse, medium density and probably low to medium porosity hair cause I have 2c, 3a and some very few 3b patterns and my hair has been natural since 2014 and I thought I had just real bad frizzy hair 😅. I learned that I am very prone to build up and the list goes on so I come back to you for advice whenever I have the time. ❤
The gel is best I have used in 20 years it gives me amazing definition, volume, shine and lasting humidity defence. I use it on its own without leave in or cream as I want the max hold.
Thanks for sharing your refresh routine! I've had a very frizzy week (in the same general region as you) and I just kept trying things in my hair. Ironically, today it looked pretty good though not totally frizz free, but it was time to wash it, as it had been a week since I last washed it. I often have that happen, that my hair looks great just when it's time to wash it! I've looked at the Aveda products before but they are too pricey for me to even consider.
I really do not like the repair bond from Aveda. I am glad you are out there doing reviews. Since I have been watching you my hair is so much longer and better shape.
@GenaMarie I am not able to scrunch or pin my hair at night in the bonnet as it is in grow out from short… I’m the one who’s middle falls flat in the bonnet. I purchased the suggested bonnet a few days ago and can roll it to fit better, but the middle is still falling flat but a bit less than before (I was using a dollar tree bonnet at first, lol an upgrade was needed!) Thank you for this live, your hair is soooo pretty!
This is great information, Gena! I leave for Costa Rica on Saturday so that humidity proof hair video is coming a little late for me. Lol...but since I live in FL, it will definitely get used day-to-day.

I have never bought aveda products but I did get a couple from a subscription box. I've tried the damage remedy leave in (years ago before they discontinued it), botanical repair strengthen treatment, and the nutriplenish leave in. I wasn't wowed by the botanical as it was a lightweight gel cream which I just used for heat protection and the smell put me off. I think damage remedy was the same but cant remember. However the nutriplenish has been in my washday every washday so far because it's so moisturizing even for a spray leave in. Plus the added heat/UV protection has me sold especially as its getting warmer so I think it works as a better primer than the primer you used

Wow, $41 and no heat protection 😂 thanks for looking that up! I also just noticed where the products say “reduce frizz in high humidity for 24 hours.” That definitely is not the case lol!
I have fine, higher density hair with curls like yours I usually refresh day 2 curls with steam and either nothing or a little leave in conditioner. Day 3 and 4 with sort of how you’re doing it but just glazing the gel with water. Never went in as much as you are, but may have to try it to see if I get better results. Thanks!
Thanks for testing out Aveda. I'm glad I didn't buy the gel! I do like the primer and I purchased a mini size Be Curly Enhanced Cream. The products are ok. Not worth the price in my opinion.
I'm sure you can't speak to this, but my fine hair has a very slight wave to it, 2A probably. When I diffuse it tends to look wonky then falls flat, so I usually air dry. I have a black orchid diffuser on my old, purple Remington dryer. I usually just air dry. Would a shallower diffuser like the defrizzion help me at all, or is it a waste of money for me?
I love watching your curly tutorials and excited for next weeks with the humidity one as I too live in a humidity climate. Totally not a curly question - but where did you get your make up brushes/ pallete organizer / holder? Been looking for something like it

I purchased the whole line and I love the shampoo conditioner and the gel. The curl cream makes my hair look greasy just like the other one.
I didn’t feel like the primer did anything for me. I prefer the leave in bonding one with the be curly gel.

Could you do a video on curl creams: one you like, one with some hold, ones that may have protein, ones that may have moisture...
Curlsmith diffuser was giant for my small head BUT the travel size is the cats meow for me !
Interesting, I used all of the Aveda be curly products and can go five days without a refresh and no frizz. I love it!
