Not a Tallboy!!! Bomb shown here is a Bomb Aircraft 12,000lb HC (High Capacity) Blast Bomb. It was a light case bomb like the 4000lb HC (Cookie) bomb with 70% of the weight being explosive. It was mainly used by 617 Squadron from September 1943 onwards until they got the Bomb Aircraft 12,000 MC (Medium Capacity) AKA the Tallboy in June 1944.

Dirty bombs don’t explode like a typical bomb, instead they have a very small explosion that does almost nothing to surrounding areas, until the radiation comes in, it is basically a nuke without the explosion

And the Fritz-X was the main factor in ending HMS Warspite's career permanently, and contributed to its scrapping after the war.

@@thedoodlehudson she turned from battleship to coastal patrol ship after she was hit by what 3 Fritz Xs which is really very surprising. Granted Tirpitz survived a lot of Tallboys granted she also turned into a coastal patrol ship after one hit.
@@Gencrossbones she was only directly hit by 1 Fritz-X; another missed and damaged her torpedo bulge, and the third missed entirely. Warspite then went on to provide coastal bombardment until the end of the war, suffering damage from a mine as well. That’s not just coastal patrol by any stretch.
Tirpitz on the other hand did nothing but sink after being hit with Tallboys. The earlier air attacks in the fjords where she took damage meant she was relegated to a giant, poorly defended AA platform for the Tallboys to sink.

Warspite she can still go out at sea but she has a permanent hole that the brits covered up with concrete. The grand old lady really refuses to sink even with all the damage she took throughout her service both from the germans and from the amount of ships and rocks she collided with memory is murky since it's been a while since I read the grand old lady's history.

As an history nerd you used the bomb NOT CORRECTLY the british designed this bomb to be able to bomb enemy vehicles/bunkers from a high distance and because there were anti air vehicles bombers couldnt fly in the sky so they decided to fly really low to be not hit by the AAV. The bomb worked like this: There was a mechanism in the bomber that spinned the barrel really fast and then when dropped ( on water) it would BOUNCE on the water and hit targets with a big speed wich caused big damage.

The first one looks like an improvised boiler bomb...Croatian airforce used them during the battle for Vukovar in the 90s
