Another tip is to set your Bixby button to set brightness levels to around 10% or less. Or over 90% (full brightness) For whatever reason that works to get rid of the flickering screen. And another I discovered just today is, deeper in the Lock Screen --> Always On Display settings is the option to tap to view. Using that option obviously saves battery power. Just remember to tap before pressing the power button, otherwise the green tint/flickering will show up.
I used an app called smart switch to switch from an older phone to the galaxy s9. So while the data is being transferred there is an option to lock the screen and keep it on. When I use that my phone screen turns normal. I tried to email the app dev but they didn't have time to assist. So if there's anyone who can check that software out we could find a potential fix for the screen.
I have exactly this problem with my S9 and am pretty sure it dates from an Android security patch on 1 March 2022. Also used same always-on workaround but Samsung needs to fix this. I have a friend with an S9 who doesn't have the problem and we couldn't work out why his might be different.
my s9 has done this for a year, overheats bad too. sadly gave up and got a new phone as its a nightmare. but still got it hoping one day I'll be able fix it!
This is not software bug it is the flex. moisture is the culprit all you need to do is blower the upper part where sim tray is. need to take out the tray and blower the lower part where you put charger make sure not to point at one direction sway the blower do not direct it.
Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thanky you. I was praying so hard sooooooooo hard you are a life savior
My S9 has the green screen going on. I have the "always on" option on, not helping. I won't buy another Samsung phone if this is all the support I can get when there's a problem. The Samsung support site does not help at all.
I foolishly replaced my S9 with another Samsung before I looked into this issue. It WILL be my last Samsung. I noticed the screen seemed to have problems in dim light and when I held it up to a bright light the screen was fine. Turning of Adaptive Brightness in Display and raising brightness fixed it on my now backup phone. Surely Samsung knows this by now. Kicking myself for buying another.
Got the same problem with s9 but this happens only when i use gear vr app on the phone - nothing else triggers it the phone and screen works fine i got this mesx only when it triggers vr app Oculus i press lock button and the bug goes away really strange behavior...did anybody tried the blower suggestion to get rid oof moisture?-to me looks like software bug
can u help my phone did this but instead it's a solid green so I cant see through it but the problem is its covering the bottom half of my phone so I cant log into my phone and reset it and the thing is u cant do anything with ur phone not logged in everything requires a password cant even go into settings from the quick menu without it
This is a hardware problem. It is likely due to a short in the cable that attaches to the display. They present a workaround here, which you can do over and over. I got tired of the green screen popping up and replaced the screen assembly, and the screen works great now. I posted a thread on how I did this.
My S9 plus keeps giving me this green screen flickering error whenever I make a WhatsApp call. It only lasts for about 10 seconds and the phone screen works normally. Since many others have complained of having the same issue, I now assume this is something to do with software after an update.
Mine started having similar issues yesterday. Entirely black expect for a few variable green lines on top. Restart screen fully shows but is tinted green. Sometimes when pushing the lock button the screen will flicker and reveal that it's still capable of showing the proper screen. Yesterday it randomly worked normally again for a few minutes but I hadn't read of any fixes yet. Now I have but I haven't been able to unlock it and do stuff for even 30 seconds today. Really hope I'll get the chance to at least do the Always On Display workaround, which seems to work for most. To my knowledge, reports about this issue now date back more than 3 years, and nothing has been done about it. Those people either had to change phones or pay 100+ bucks to get their screen fix (which at this point in time just isn't worth it anymore). Most phones I had so far were Samsung Galaxy phones, but with an issue this severe unadressed for a price point that does rival iPhones to some extent (not an Apple fan at all, but you gotta give it to them in terms of longevity at least - and that's something that should be expected from every major flagship phone at that price point), I am strongly considering moving somewhere else and not looking back. I'm also at the age where I don't need the highest end anymore like when I was 18, but rather reliable and practical stuff.
Update: I somehow got it to a state afterwards where the screen would turn on, then turn off again after I pressed something for like 30 seconds, then turn on again. It was tedious, but step by step I managed to active AOD. But what really helped out in the end was setting the brightness to maximum. Colours range from incredibly washed out to almost normal now, but at least the phone is useable to the extent where it is possible for me to back stuff up and migrate important apps. I'm not trusting the phone to stay stable/useable for a prolonged amount of time in this state so this was just a rescue mission for me.
Bro help me In my samsung m01 core phone the phone is 1 year old and there is tint problem the tint is not solving all saying the folder changes but I don't have money black is horizontal lines
My phone began to do it some days ago. It is a shame samsung don't offer any support or fix for this software issue on a flagship phone. My next phone will not be a Samsung because of this.
Same thing here. Started doing flickering greenish today. Is it the motherboard?? My screen has been well cared with dimm light all time. Now I have to boost light to get rid of flickering!!!! What is SAMSUNG doing about this???!!!
I'm not sure what it is but it's a guess on my part because why can my phone work if I leave the always on display on but if I turn it off there are issues? Why can't the password screen be programmed the same way the always on display is?
@@AdviceandAdventures This problem is caused by the lack of voltage on the display, which is sent to it by the regulator circuit. At the same time that the problem appeared, the battery has half its life, but in reality the voltage is only measured incorrectly. That's why it helps to maintain a constant voltage, or in more frequent cases, to have accurate brightness values. Brightness at 10, 90% helps because the regulator can no longer send accurate decimal voltages well. And turning off the display during a call causes a problem because it is too fast. Turning on the display by the power button is delayed for the first time to load the necessary cache, so the regulator has time to prepare the correct voltage. Otherwise, the password screen cannot be always on display, because it would be a big burden on the battery and the phone would last about 6-8 hours I guess.
But to be fair, I think the controller was broken by an OS update in 2021 and a couple of times in 2022. After improper low battery optimizations, the controller will be "broken" forever. Or it's just a rather low-quality component.
Mines so bad I can't do anything all I can do is unlock and that's it. I can't see who's calling nothing was doing this off and on but now it's worst. I had to get a temp phone until I get this fix when I do leave it on it gets warm real quick I got it to work only to transfer and backup my data. So I transferred everything the my temp phone just in case I'm afraid to turn it off and won't be able to unlock it with my fingerprint.
Found that holding phone up to bright light brought screen up properly, Then I was able to turn off Adaptive Brightness in Display settings (the culprit). I did have to raise my brightness to higher than usual. Also turned on Always on Display for good measure.
Same. Between this and getting rid of true slow motion the S9 ended up being a disappointed as the updates came out. One saving grace was they delivered on constant frame rate video recording. Even at 4K quality.
@@AdviceandAdventureshey, I don’t know anything about phones and I’ve never really taken a phone to get fixed.
