Just a reminder. It took David Wise 5 whole weeks to port aquatic ambience onto the dkc cartridge. He had to meticulously record every sound wave and program them into each of the 8 sound channels to fit it on the SNES's 64kb soundchip. He only did this to get specific soundwaves to play on the SNES. He said it was sort of a gift to the devs and to show the world just how technically advanced dkc was for the time. First time I heard the song, it caught me off guard because of how clean and mesmerizing it sounded on the SNES.

The first time I listened to it was when I was eight years old on my SNES. As an adult I’m still listening to it from time to time, it’s a masterpiece.
This song reminds me of my best friend who passed away last year. We'd always play DK Country on his SNES and I'm glad I'm not the only one who had an emotional reaction to this song
Same. I remember laying on my bottom bunk listening to this for hours. The wind coming through the window with shimmering summer sun against my walls. Love that memory.
Underrated Video. If you just put on the track with headphones and focus, it’s hard not to get emotional if you love music. Great post 👍 1:11 on is how I feel about this track and all great music. I’m right there with him the whole video.
@donkey Kong country master The Korg Channel on RUclips is available in all countries. He made a series of 5 songs including this, Stickerbush Simphony and others.
To this day this is one of the best tracks in Donkey Kong history. I remember the first time I heard it and I was amazed. It just goes to show how strong this track is when you just automatically start to feel emotional and begin to cry. It's so beautiful
This was the 90's. They didn't realize at the time that they were setting a standard for not only what videogame music can sound like, but should sound like. Imagine, if you will, that you have never heard music before and this comes across your ears. Imagine the emotions that puts you through.
I thought I was alone as a kid when I would play this level over just to hear this relaxing music. I’ve always loved it. Awesome to see a powerful reaction like this
Man, it’s a song that gives you chills *every time* It’s nostalgic, it’s really perfection. I heard this song for the first time late 2022 and ended up re arranging using the ocarina of time soundfont with great results. I love this song and it looks like you did too
Oh man DKC was such a great game and the music was 0n point. This song though i have never seen a level and song go so good together Also I’m a big prog rock fan and always felt like this could have been a yes or early genesis song maybe even a Pink Floyd song . This song is so peaceful to me.
you couldn't have included the song in the video? I wanted to listen to it and accidentally clicked on your video. I literally just sat here watching a grown man cry thinking there would be some unexpected twist to redeem the fact that this is almost 4 minutes of a guy crying to Nintendo music.
Last sunday I went to a videogame music symphonic concert, they played this theme and I was crying even when I've listened to this song since I was a child.
If I could describe nostalgia in a physical sense to someone, this is what it would look like. This is how nostalgia feels. It's such an unbelievable feeling. It's not the first time this guy has heard this. He around the same age as me and I know he's played this game before lol
I was in love with this song for many years but I listened to it so much in so many covers that it isn't as emotional for me as it was. But I kind of feel you, guys. I really love David Wise's compositions and look forward to the new Salamandos album. This love will follow me through my life even after I get a major love of my life - a girl. I'm 19 years old just for you to know how eternal this music is and goes on conveying the ambiance through generations
Music can be very emotional for me as well. It's that feeling that Disney tried to show in Soul. My daughter loves to watch it because she loves music, and she loves when I get lost in my music whether just listening or playing it myself. I love seeing other people get emotional to music, makes me feel more connected to others.
I've never thought about it, It might have been something like this. Or, they were like: David, it's just a game about kongs, we're not making an epic movie, but we're gonna use it anyway, so you wont have to redo.
It’s so beautiful it takes your spirit to many unrealized places at once. I used to fall asleep with it on as a teenager. Ride across the river by dire straits was competition
Yeah I can only imagine what they felt hearing this for the first time. Their eyes must have gone wide. Like…imagine being like “ this is going in our game…”
It's weird how this hits me despite having no sentimental attachment besides paying the game. It's inspiring and retrospective all in one, and it seems to bring back every good and bad memory that I've ever had. Who is the wizard who composed this?
My memory from when I was a kid is very bad. When I was an adult and suddenly remember that I used to like DKC games and their music I went back to them on an emulator, casually. When I first heard these songs I felt like this guy (despite being fake), stopped to listen to every single one of them at the same time that all came back, the nostalgia, the feeling of experience something similar that drove me back to older and better days. It was magic. Every now and them I put these songs to listen, it calms the soul
The only snes soundtrack that make me tears was probably the main theme of terranigma and also ff6 opening, DKC is just an amazing and wonderfull trip i add the pleasure to play on my teenage day, this music are cool and smooth but not sad, for me.
Early FF franchise delivered such excellence in story and audio experience, #6 was no exception. I think secret of Mana & Chrono trigger also delivered
I feel you my man. When I played this game, I was 10 years old. I am now 38 and this song is still on my work playlist, together with a whole bunch of other DK songs . If feelings had sound, this song would be a perfect example. David Wise is a fucking legend!

Aquatic Ambience, Bramble Blast and Forest Interlude just hit different, David Wise is a genius and one of the best videogame composers ever.
Especially aquatic ambince it's a very powerful instrumental 👏 my favorite game theme song ever
I really like In A Snowbound land as well. David Wise creates the atmosphere
Toxic Tower in DKC 2 is powerful as well
