Has every alto saxophonist gotten a hold of Gerald Albright's Altissimo Work Book? I have even before its physical publication; so, why can't you? The "wicked" staccato tonguing fused with waves of altissimoes is reminiscent of that of King Curtis', one of Gerald's inspirations and influences. Maceo Parker, for his funky groove and brightness of alto saxophone sound; and Cannonball Adderley, for the use of Jazz vocabulary, phrases and sentences. Well, Grover Washington, Jr. has also made an enormous impact on Gerald's style, to say the least. I adore every second of it.
My favorite sax player
