While DBS Broly is leagues above Z Broly in power, I don't see him invoking the same type of fear. DBS Broly is a wild berserker but deep down he's still good natured & lacks the malicious intent of Z Broly. Z Broly is a sadistic psychopath. He enjoys bringing pain, destruction, & death wherever he goes. Someone who has lost their senses & has gone berserk is terrifying. But not to the same degree as someone the deliberate causes pain & enjoys it.

His planet was also blown up that day, while he was on it. The only reason him & Paragus survived was because Broly instinctually formed a barrier to protect himself, along with his father. On the note of Goku; Broly didn't even recognize him as the crying baby until after Goku put his fist into his chest, where he was stabbed. The initial animosity Broly has towards Goku is mainly due to their status & saiyan nature. Broly is the Legendary Super saiyan, the pinnacle of saiyans. And Goku, a low class warrior, is not only extremely powerful as well but is not refusing to back down. It's only because of Paragus's mind control that Broly doesn't attack him at first. In the Japanese dub, Paragus states it's Goku's power that has awakened him. Here's the thing that a lot of people don't get because they don't actually pay attention to the film. Broly isn't a dumb brute, that shouts "Kakarot" constantly. Once he is released & fully in control, he says Kakarot two times early on & after tanking a Kamehameha, he calls him Goku doesn't call him Kakarot at all afterwards. Broly's not dumb. Unfortunately, the sequel film takes very little from the first film & makes Broly a dumb brute that says Kakarot & one sentence. That film is where that meme came from. The 3rd one, it's a clone so it's not even Broly. When I compare DBZ & DBS Broly, I am using the films Dragon Ball Z: Broly the Legendary Super Saiyan & Dragon Ball Super Broly, & none of the others.
