Would you take the RAV4 Hybrid over the new options like CR-V and Escape?
Some of you may wonder about the gas tank issue, in my 900 mile trip with the RAV4 Hybrid last year it didn't let me fill the tank past about 3/4. I'm not sure about the status of that right now.
Check out my road trip video with the RAV4 for more detail: ruclips.net/video/XU4jO_FsfCE/видео.html

I have the 2021 rav-4 hybrid XSE. I managed to get 667 miles on one tank of ethenol free gas. The bad news: When you actually fully run out of gas on these bad boys, it triggers a "hybrid system malfunction" error code, and you cannot reset yourself unless you have an OBD2 reader, even if you have backup fuel with you. Otherwise you have to get it towed to a toyota dealership. Learned that lesson the hard way.
Other than that, so far this car is really perfect.

I have a question concerning the rear defrost grid on the 2020 RAV4 Hybrids, I noticed that the grid (defrost wires) on our vehicle are not uniform in color when examining from the interior side of the window. Some of the grid is copper colored and as you look at other spots on the same wire it is darker gray in color. We looked at other RAV4 Hybrids on a dealer's lot and the rear defrost grids were all uniform in color (darker gray.) Our local dealer examined our vehicle, contacted Toyota, and they provided a new rear window. When I examined the installed window (again from the interior side of the glass) at the dealer, it still had the issue. I showed the service manager & he was embarrassed that he did not check the new window before swapping it out. They ordered another window which arrived with the same issue. They are contacting Toyota to discuss. Does anyone have this issue. You need to examine in a garage since backlight from the sun makes it hard to examine. Also a flashlight shined at an angle helps. We are concerned that this issue could lead to failure at some point & we keep our vehicles
a long time (200K miles.) Our 2020 Toyota Tundra does not have this issue. Thank you to anyone replying.

I then called the toll free number to Toyota Care and was told they would document my case, and that there have been others but they do not have the data as to how many vehicles exhibit this problem. I have heard that there may be a difference in design/parts between the Canadian vs Japanese built vehicles and that the Japanese built Hybrids do not have this gas tank filling issue. It is not cost effective to buy hybrid, you have to drive 40K (HWY)+40K(City) to make up for the price difference compare to non hybrid model.

It depends for how many years you own the car. It evens out eventually. I think the statement of owning a Hybrid vehicle comes into play too.

80,000 miles nothing. My last car I kept for 138,000 miles. By that calculation I could have saved 40% over the life of the vehicle. This is a Toyota so I’m sure it won’t be worn out so soon so I could see it at this calculation easily paying for itself and then some.

Also consider increased maintenance cost when you buy hybrid. I will prefer either completely gas or completely electric, less complexity and less maintenance cost. Don't take my word, ask your local mechanic.

Me and my wife have this car and a rav4 hybrid both 2020 and the rav sucks assssssss compared to the chevy and we drove both till 70k+ now (we are field engineers so we drive all the time). The chevy is quiter, quicker, bigger, softer, More comfortable, the awd is miles better in snow. The rav always got stuck in our driveway. The Equinox I would turn off the traction control and im out in no quick. Not issues with the chevy other than needing to rest the chevy infotainment from time to time which is an issue I have with the toyota too. Had issues with the rav gas tank barley taking fuel, weird clicks from the pedals and around the car
