    can't believe some ungrateful tw*t said you talk too much - what was he expecting for nothing. Robin you don't talk too much but rather give the best gypsy jazz guitar tuition and explain it in a fun and immediately usable way.     I never thought of using this cool minor 7 flat five chord so extensively. I use it a lot in 145. I was just lying in my exhausted for using a snow thrower after a snow storm in Finland and wanted to learn this sheik of araby tune in sort of swing style and was lucky to to find this approach. Thank you.

    Nice cloudy cool day in Sydney, Australia. More coolness also from this amazing shape, thanks. I have found that I can make some moderately respectable solo runs by twiddling notes up and down a fret from it, moving into the diminished scale. How about a lesson to trigger our creativity along these lines?

    Sounds nice. Could u explain the concept of how this minor 7b5 shape can be substituted for these various chords.

      Yes this chord X7878X can be Em7-5, Gm6 and C9. The chord X2323X can be Bm7-5, Dm6 and G9. It all depended on the context.

      The first chord of All of me is Cma7. C9 has a flat 7. Gm6 is not a chord of all of me. There is G7 so I wonder how that works

    Thanks for the great channel! But, if I may ask, what tricks I must do to make my Ibanez AEL-series acoustic guitar sound like gypsy jazz guitar? Is it even possible? Here in Helsinki we have no new GJ guitars in music stores, I saw one second hand guitar but someone was quicker as always. I'm not very confident to order acoustic guitar from Thomann as it can be in thousand pieces after delivery.

      Doc Trinos it’s all in the fingers Doc. When you play go for Sound & Tone. Make the notes ring clear and add some fast vibrato. Close your eyes and play from your heart. Let me know how you go.. I’m here to help! Robin

    could you explain more about substitution chords , it's confusing , you give a half diminished E for a C, Or a half dim C# for a A . Reverse chords or substitutions without explanation .i came up with the idea that in gypsie music you never built a chord over the root note cause it remains for the bass player , so instead we build chords over the 3th

      E half dim with root E on 7th fret acts as the 2 chord on a minor 2-5-1 into Dm. The same shape on the 4th fret with C# in root acts as an A9 chord.

    That shape plays an atmospheric sort of swelling chord in Leonard Cohens WAITING FOR THE MIRACLE...but I thought it covered the top E ...Keep trying to find a home for it between B7 ,E m and the C with 2 fingers... never mind !! x
