Sadly I feel even the "new" parts are just getting worse and worse. The regulators should still be reasonable though for replacement. I roll the dice on em, some last forever, some last 50 miles. Wish I had a better response for ya. Thanks for watching!
@@WrenchingWrecked I toke it to Old Man in HD dealership Dekalb illinios he put a new one on it $95.00 back in 1982.That was back when Willie G and his crew bought the company back from AMF they dumped lots of parts back then from AMF and started to restructure back to family members taking full control of the company back in those days new bikes had a 300 mile or 3 month warranty lol
Where did you get the one you should have gotten from? The one I need is out of production..so it's either flea bay from China/az. or rewire a ricks vr
I ended up having generator problems. I think the brushes need a deep cleaning. I put the old custom chrome one back in. V Twin carries a repop plug and play one though (for '81). Not sure if it's any good though. If it's a keeper bike, I've had good luck with Cycle Electrics in the past, but they're a bit pricey. Thanks for watching!
@Wrenching Wrecked that's where I'm at. Already paid for a new battery then a tow. Got home, and said it's either the vr or the stator. If I keep.the bike, I'd repair it/switch/convert it back to a three phase. Been on the fence about keeping it(buell) or selling it(I have 6)
I need to polarize my gen on my 82,,thanks for the info
Glad to help!
I bought a 1982 FXWG from Kegals HD when they were on Alburn in Rockford the bike was new that item your discussing went bad at 400 miles.
