It really hard in the industry I also make music I'm 26 been making house music since I was 16. I've seen even on facebook most legendary producer are hardly noticed I visited atjazz's page and he had just released a song with toshi and there was literally 15 people that viewed it on the page. Imagine if atjazz got that and he 's a legend what about us that are still coming up. It's very hard to get recognition never my making revenues from ur music. I think we as south african musicians should develope a platform similar to facebook youtube and zoom where we can garantee a solid revenue plan for artists because it becoming more and more tough to actually make money from music this far but without music and music and companies like facebook youtube spotify etc would have never been so successfull now everyone thinks music is free. Artist don't make money no more unless they are well know and can be booked for gives for us right at the back with no followers coming up we don't get no gigs because nobody knows us. I don't even know why I'm still making music because even buying equipment is very expensive with out getting any revenue it becomes pointless to make music. But some of us still believe in music and love music so much that we never stop. Even if it eating from ur own pocket that never gets filled up. I thought by this age I'd be somewhere but I'm still in the same position I was 10years back. I juSt got super good but no revenues.
This is where we need to fight for our careers m'fanaka. There's no easy way of doing this either than putting in the work. I would argue that this is the best time to be a producer/DJ because opportunities are burgeoning everyday especially with the internet at our finger tips. Risk or Regret.
