To be fair, the refresh rates of TVs back then were perfectly fine and the images were high quality for the mediums used to broadcast and display at the time. Digital mediums were still being developed while analog still produced high quality for that period.
It was mandatory to have dirty heads and/or crinkled tape around the beginning where someone didn't quite rewind all the way and the tape got crinkled.
actually, the third one is a modern invention, i dont know who the fuck began to use it and push it as a 80´s thing, its more a retrowave crap than actual 80´s material.
I've never thought about this before, but this is such an astute observation by the Family Guy writers. I would say though that depressing isn't quite the right word. It's more like unsettling, ominous, creepy. I remember being frightened by some of the HBO production logos from the 80s, but the United Artists production logo used in the late 70s and early 80s was particularly strange and terrifying to me as a youngster. It used to scare the crap out of me whenever I saw it before the credits at the start of a movie. Watch it alone in a darkened room and tell me you're not terrified: ruclips.net/video/wAso6stqoCs/видео.html. What the hell were they thinking? I suppose if nothing else, it's memorable.
Where are all those guys who are obsessed with home video logos and vanity plates? Tell them that Family Guy made a joke specifically for them. And it's actually pretty damn funny.
The V one reminds me of the actual Viacom logo, which gave me nightmares as a kid. I remember it would jump out of the TV and then chase me around the house.
First logo is accurate-ish, the second is fine, but especially the third is the logo equivalent of synthwave: it wants to call back to The Day, but distorts The Day into an image that never existed. (But who am I to critique something that took some factor of time to think up, write, board and animate?) Back then, if there was a grid, there wasn't much colour to it. (examples being USA Home Video and Proserpine [to a lesser extent; apparently, it works with I Ran So Far Away by A Flock of Seagulls. I don't exactly agree with that, though]) Look at me getting worked up over a fucking Family Guy joke. DOWN-VOTE ME, I COMMAND! -signed, a former logokid
Very accurate 80's movie intros. I wasn't even alive in the 80's, but that droning keyboard sound is so nostalgic.
Not even just horror.
I was alive then, with the trauma to prove it. Yeah. Super accurate. Calling my therapist now.
If you like that stuff, listen to the band Boards of Canada.
depressing? they''re awesome!
Am I the only one wondering whether or not he ejected the first two tapes?
I know he didn't. Just magically not there anymore in cartoon logic.
He definitely did *not* rewind them, either 😡🤣
Nope. I noticed too.
*Videodrome intensifies*
All classic 80’s B-Horror movie intros
I remember some childrens shows made by D.I.C. now, thanks
I was born in 2004 and I remember seeing similar logos like that, especially that bouncing V

Very accurate 80s production logos.👍👍
The Viacom V of Doom!
0:24 I didn’t know Vailskibum existed in the 80’s.
That’s what I first thought of 😂
The keyboard noise used to give me nightmares as a kid. and I was born in the 90s...
80s are really cool and amazing.
Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon and Synthwave music reminded me how much I love this aesthetic.
that V can also be the Roman numeral for 5
This perfectly captures 80s production to a T. 😂🎉
actually, the third one is a modern invention, i dont know who the fuck began to use it and push it as a 80´s thing, its more a retrowave crap than actual 80´s material.
I was born at the start of the 80s, the depiction was accurate
I need to find the clip that tells me what Jane Fonda did
Hypnotoad
Depressing? More like nightmare inducing
The end of the video is Quagmire noticing the declining writing quality of the show he inhabits.
Someone create the “all three” version and post it to RUclips. Please and thank you

Everyone focussing on the 80's logo while I focus on the hawaiian shirt being in the locker.

It’s like Seth was spending a lot of time at the CLG wiki
The audio has kinda a PS1 boot screen vibe
It sounds like the ps1 startup music

The 80’s Has Denver The Dinosaur 🦕
damn, they captured that well
Gotta love being told the joke before we actually see the joke
Why is this so accurate
Sounds like the opening for analogue horror
Wait, what was going on?
Analog Horror moment
Flash backs to Far Cry: Blood Dragon intro and game cover.
This joke is so damn specific. I love it.
I remember those, from when I was a little kid.
are they parodying the apple tv show Physical?
I wonder if someone on the family guy writing team is a logo nerd like me.
I find them soothing
WELL?!? Whats going on?
Why didn't he go "Alright!!! Giggidy" at the V? Is he going woke too?
Tell me more about CRI
It’ll make you cry
Not really depressing, just ominous
synthwave
That queststar intro legit looks like an 80s porn opening
Lol, i was sure the last one was gonna be "KKK"
Ah yes the production value 0:16 hmm actually made the end of this plus there wasn't a post credit part rude
Yeah those are more like modern versions of 80s logos. Those are super off the mark
The intros fit quagmire, but not as fitness tapes.
Imagine thinking '80s VHS logos are depressing and not awesome. SMH Family Guy writers.
Bro this is ture
The logs definitely from the 80s
Hi
Funny because it's true
Wait... Wha? What _is_ going on?
*Now I'll never knooow!* 😭
Third one
True or not, Family Guy doesn't get any funnier when they have the characters explain the jokes constantly.
Again, like AD, But you'll never admit it. Lol.

Man the 80s where trash
I hate Family Guy so much. Who finds this funny or even remotely interesting?
