  • Using a set of Knipex twin grips and a set of Icon hose pliers to install a Dorman heater core bypass. Also a good tip on buying coolant at the end. Please like and subscribe.
    The Dorman part number for the kit or 626-001, it can be had from Autozone, Oreilley’s and I believe Napa and Advanced Auto.
    Please remember to like share and subscribe folks

    Man that looks good, sometimes its what it takes,my heater core has been leaking for a loooong time but mine leaks into the heater core box and it drains down the air conditioner drain hole so i got lucky there, i have a brand new oem core (for my car these are almost impossible to find), only thing keeping me from changing it is, I'm wanting to source a new dash, once i do that ill tear everything down but the dash is also almost impossible to find, ha ha ha ha

    If it's just the O-Rings on the core lines just cut the lines and put hose in place of the rings .Connect the cut line together with hose that's how I skipped the dash bullsht ..All you have to do is take the pass airbag out and work from the top not bad at all.

    Unfortunately This didn't work out for me they're supposed to be some top of restrictor Inside somewhere or just because the heater cord has about 😢😢3' of copper tubing and dusting to the coolant flow I'm only getting about 10 miles a gallon

    Would a bad leaking heater core cause truck to overheat

      I think mine was the fan clutch, heater core was secondary. It will save you from overheating sometimes if you turn the heat in full blast

      @@peterchristlieb could you tell me how to burp the cooling system without the funnel attachment thing

      @@FlyGuy-g6w it’s not that critical on the 2.5, the top of the radiator is quite a bit higher than the water level in the motor. Just make sure you get it circulating and fill it up and it should burp all by itself

      If you are loosing all your coolant then yeah that would do it but a leaking heater core perse is not gonna make anything overheat, just depends on the severity of the leak,as long as your engine has the coolant it needs it should be fine.
      My core has been leaking for almost a decade (outside of the car thankfully) and the car runs nice and cool, i do have to put in coolant once a month or so but thats no biggie, eventually I'm just gonna cap it with one of these gizmos on the video,it gets cold where i live but not frostbite cold.

    You mean they sell kits for that? I used to just get a male/male connector and a couple of hose clamps 😊.

      In the old days most heater hoses were one size and they were long and could be turned straight so it was easy to do that, in the last couple of decades most heater cores are 3/4 and 5/8 so you need 2 different sizes and the way the hoses are made they are hard to bend straight, these kits are a godsend, yeah you could go to ACE hardware and source everything, use up more fuel and lose some more coolant from the heater core or you can just buy this already made and save the hassle.
      I actually bought mine of eBay,it was half the price of this, lol

    The Dorman kit will buy you some time. Not all of Dorman's products are bad. I've always bought full strength coolant and mixed my own. Pre-mix is good in an emergency situation.

    What size did you have to change out on the bypass part? Is the inlet and outlet 5/8 and 3/4?

    • @peterchristlieb
      @peterchristlieb  5 месяцев назад

      It came with both, I think I used 3/4”
