Several years ago, I used to tell our pastor during Bible study my confusion or contradiction regarding the word of God. But he would always qoute Prov. 3:5 - trust the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. But in my mind, surely there is contradiction until I've learned doing rightly dividing, and my knowledge increased when I listened to other pastors teaching on youtube rightly dividing. Last year, a brother in Christ, who met me for the first time, was surprised to hear me mentioned about rightly dividing and he was happy to hear it because he also is into rightly dividing. And we are now introducing rightly dividing in the city where we live here in the Phillipines. Thank you pastor Rodney for sharing what you know. God bless you and may His grace abound more in you.

Both points can and are true i think. The father calls whom he will, i think Calvin was wrong in that he did not truly understand the nature of God, that being he is outside of time and knows the end from the beginning. All have the option but many will choose to not submit no matter what the truth is. and He knows that, so he has given themselves over to their sins.

Noel Lim I always noticed the contradiction too. When I learned about rightly dividing the word of God it cleared it up the contradiction instantly.

I think a stronger case could have been made with another set of contrasting verses like dealing with works vs grace.
