Eh... Detroit caused it though. When teams start looking at scoreboard and see them winning, they begin to grip the bat tighter, feel more pressure and just not execute. It's a mix. Because its not possible if Detroit is not winning.

@@TBTasher I get it, but Detroit caused it as much as they collapsed. Pressure was on Detroit to continue to win as much as it was on the Twins to not lose given the cushion they had.

Twins: After being in 2nd position in the central division and the wild card, for almost the entire season, it was frustating, disappointing, horrible, sad, disastrous to see them collapse in september and drop to 4th position and be eliminated from the wild card. Congratulations to the teams that qualify for the post season.
They aren’t eliminated yet, Tigers could lose 3 straight and Twins win out. Twins have the tie breaker

How did the Twins do this to themselves?
They never had talent in the first place. That team in reality is as bad as the White Sox .... If there were another 60 games they would choke to last place and probably break a MLB record for losses. Minnesota hasn't been a relevant team for almost 30 years. I wound't even consider them good enough for AAA.. They have like 2 average / good players.

Twins did this to themselves and it came after they finally won a playoff game and series for the first time in almost 20 years wow.
I said it before...Detroit is a second half team and right now...nobody in either league is playing as well as they are. They are hot!

Don't know how that is relevant at all. Pretty sure the 100 loss Marlins wouldn't care. Absolutely screws Minnesota though, because there is no chance they sweep Baltimore, and the Royals and Tigers both GET swept.

As a Tigers fan who has seen dismal play so often, this Twins effort looked terrible. I’m guessing the manager will be looking for employment next year whether or not the Twins get their miracle finish

Supposedly future superstar Royce Lewis fell on his face at least twice last night both times with the winning run in scoring position. He was 0-forever in the game and the only time he was on base was a walk and as the designator runner of extra innings. Another twins player who is a flash in the pan. LOL,

poor norby with the platinum sombrero in front of all his friends and family from minnesota. i think 30 of them were in attendance and he had the worst game of his career. but hes a great player, marlins got a steal trading for him.

Wow the Twins choke way too hard😨
Feeling very sorry for Minnesota fans, who deserved a better ending to this season. Had anticipated that it was gonna be KC as the team left outside the AL playoff picture, with that Crazy L7 skid during the home stretch - not something that bodes well for a playoff run. Indeed, besides Minny, there's Many AL teams that are kicking themselves at opportunities lost during the wind-up of this nutty 2024 season! Appears KC snapped out of it just in time (but gonna be difficult to take even ONE game in Atlanta!) - but must've lost their shoe laces to the snarling Tigers behind them. This season - similar to last year's run by the WC D-Backs - am thinking its the Tigers as the WC team to watch - VERY battle-tested with numerous 1-run victories, performing an INCREDIBLE streak of 31-11 (a clip almost 0.740!!) in their final quarter of the season, to date ... with still 3 games to play against CHISOX. They were distantly OUT OF IT. Surely must be one of the Greatest playoff runs for a WCard spot, in MLB History.
See ya next Spring.

this game wouldve never ended if they had the old school extra inning rules. hill on the marlins is a great fielder, adequate hitting but hes special fielder. marlins got a steal with signing him for nothing.
Take away the pitch clock and the old extra innings rules and this is a 7 hour game

@GenHornhead I'm right there with you, at this point they would immediately lose the wildcard series even if they made it there, so I'd rather let the Royals and Tigers go since they're both playing well.

Glad the Vikings look good but the Lions look like not so great barely winning. MLB oh well. Detroit has the Pistons. They are the absolute worse right now.
