It’s safe to say that it’s becoming increasingly difficult for Chinese people to invest in real estate in the US. At this time, Chinese investment capital has found new destinations, and a notable one is Thailand.
Some analysts believe that the supply chain of the whole Southeast Asia region is expected to be completed within five years. So it is predicted that the whole of Southeast Asia, together with India and other regions will replace China and become the new world factory.

Only a Thai citizen can own land in Thailand (at this point in time). Condos or apartments can be owned outright by a Non-Thai. If a foreigner marries a Thai or goes into business with a Thai, the Thai own 51% of the business while the non-Thai owns 49%. The business must employ 4 Thais for every non-Thai employee. If a foreigner that marries a Thai and goes to court to dissolve the marriage (divorce), the Thai will receive full ownership of the property and 51% (or more) of funds held in bank accounts held in Thai banks. Thai Judges do have a little discretion but normally will side with the Thai when it comes to distribution of Thailand held properties and bank accounts …

What that means is, freight from China to Thailand of raw material (because tons and tons of raw material are mined, produced in China and shipped out to SE Asia for cheaper labor) will cancel out the labor advantage. I remember back in the late 80's or maybe the 90's when the Japanese were buying real estate in the US and it was portrayed as a terrible thing. It turned out that they were typically buying at inflated prices. I believe that one golf course ended up losing them something like $1B. So basically it was a wealth transfer from them to the people in the US. Given the current economic conditions, Chinese buying real estate in the US or Thailand would be making the same mistake. Granted if they are buying it near military bases so they can setup spy equipment, that is another issue, but one that does not require banning them from purchasing land. I would also point out that the US constitution bans discrimination on the basis of country of origin, so it seems that Florida is going to have to prove they have some other reason for the ban. It sounds like they may be attempting to do it on the basis of the country being an enemy of the US, but that is not going to be easy given that we are not at war.

By the start of 19th century, Jews in Western Europe were more or less already integrated into native population. Then came the wave of Jews from Eastern Europe (because of pogrom by the Russian Empire), which were "uncultured" in the eyes of Western European people. Even their Western European Jews became exasperated because those "new" Jews took back Jewish integration to square one. In time, it would ended in Holocaust.

Lets put it this way. If you are rich you would like to invest property oversea. Especially in countries where there good schools and universities for your children. Impression that many Chinese have lots of money to invest.

Rich Chinese are afraid of the Party State at home but have an unhealthy sense of entitlement when it comes to getting their money of China and investing in foreign countries.

The Chinese are fleeing to Southeast Asian countries like Thailand and Laos, where my family is from. I have a lot of Chinese blood (Dai Chinese to be exact) but even I know that Thai and Laotian people aren't really fond of Chinese people. Foreigners can only buy condos but not land in Thailand. I am not sure about Laos property laws but people in Laos have already seen a waves of Chinese immigrants and they are wary about co-mingling. There are horror stories about Chinese spouses and their parents abusing the Laotian spouses.
