godot being flexible is really really cool because it kinda feels like you can make anything in it while it also stays super lightweight but everything about it goes ENTIRELY against what i like in a programming language (and by extension a game engine)
godot's performance (specially on the editor) is a blessing. i came from unity and being able to open & close a project in at most 5 minutes is awesome. the only real issue i have is with the programming language. there is c# but the editor doesn't really work well with some types
@@mannikim I haven't used unity much in the last few years but even compared to unreal, which has always felt pretty snappy once it initially loads since i've been using it, godot is just absolutely nuts. i have absolutely no idea how exactly to handle a project in it but at some point i'd like to because it just seems more fun than anything else
@@notandyuhh it is really fun once you get the hang of it. i recommend this video here: ruclips.net/video/rCu8vQrdDDI/видео.html it helps to make your code more reusable and avoid writing a script per object. i use it in my games and i find it really great
@@mannikim will this series of songs be included for download where you put your singles and stuff? pretty sure the only type of wave left thats usable is a Saw wave! This song was amazing!
i use fl studio but i wouldn't recommend it to beginners. i just think the interface is very unintuitive and it is really expensive for something you can get alternatives but if you already have it, their default plugin catalog is really great. about daws: for daws i'd recommend to use a free one at least at first. some free daws i know are lmms, ardour, zrythm, onlinesequencer, beepbox, milkytracker, dn-famitracker and reaper (i'd be cautious with this one, they have an infinite post-trial period and i couldn't find any reliable source stating that it is legally ok to use it after the trial period). there is not much difference between these daws and more "professional" ones. some of them do not support plugins but are easier to use, some of them require compiling from source, so you gotta check out for yourself and choose one. the only stuff you will need, if supported, are plugins and soundfounts. but you don't really need a daw for making music, daws only offer easier sound manipulation. you could use minecraft noteblocks if you want it about plugins: every fancy real instrument plugin is just a soundfont player with makeup, i don't think there is much reason to pay for them when you have really great soundfonts on the internet. i use the sgm soundfont but there are plenty other more. for plugins you will need some common effects: reverb, delay, eq, compression, multiband compression, chorus. these are pretty much every effect i use but if you are just starting there is no reason to bother too much with that. you will also need a plugin for synthesizers, my recommendations are vital and surge, both are free to use and surge can be used as an effects plugin
Just gotta ask, how much of this is music theory, how much of this is knowing the program, and how much of this is just playing with stuff you like? I've been trying to learn and haven't gotten anywhere.
the main subject of the video is the song. the captions are not a tutorial it is just me talking very superficially about stuff im thinking about. it is hard to go deep in a subject in less than 2 minutes
This is awesome, nice work! You wanna collab? All my music is on my youtube channel, our sounds are pretty different, but i have been trying to expand my horizons in electronic music recently. Plus, I've really just been eager to work with some other artists. Nonetheless, great work on this!
yes godot is actually trash, I had to use it since my old pc couldn't run unity or unreal engine, I ended up switching to music production when I tried making my own music for the game and I found out that was more enjoyable than usong godot and spending the day raging for evrything
i think that godot isn't really intuitive for people first using it. there is very little documentation about project structure and i think this completely kills the motivation for most people
@ it should be easier than unity for a beginner to use but yes that’s true, there are like 5 tutorial on RUclips and they are all old so some things have changed or some nodes removed

godot is fine, you're just not using it right.
and bugs are common, always get them. even professionals get them.
@@lmlimpoism I’m not saying that godot is not fine, just that in 2025 it’s not the best engine to use when you are new to game development
@Max0850 Out of all engines, I highly suggest Godot. I used it when I started, very easy to learn.
