Thanks for this! Your videos are always so intriguing. It's amazing to think that those notes you made were the results of someone's concept on how a sound would be written a long long time ago and like all knowledge, we've just built upon it from there. It's also crazy to think that the people in the middles ages and probably long before knew all this about these sounds and frequencies and used that to build bells and other wonderful instruments and write beautiful music. But not everyone knew thing, it was likely a more well kept secret and only the top 1% participated. Thanks to the internet, things like RUclips and people like you we all can learn and at least reach a decently high level of thinking and understanding of the world.

Thank You!!! The metal bell of a balanced mix of metals sounds so nice !!! This means that the pressure of the beater is on the bell and the buzz is on !!! And location to place varies depending on its climate !!!

“Sound appealing” when talking about bells. I don’t know if that was intentional - but bravo.

Hey prof, I study psychoacoustics for fun, and something you said struck me (ha!) as odd. You referred to the undertones of a bell, and I always learned that undertones were physically impossible to produce through resonance (aside from one interesting violin technique). Pitches below the fundamental aren't part of the harmonic series. I started looking up bells and undertones and found very little until I found a paper on "virtual pitches". Apparently, bells have undertones, but those undertones don't correspond to any physical process, but are rather a purely psychoacoustic phenomenon. Your brain puts it there when trying to make sense of sounds that aren't perfectly accurate harmonic series. Definitely something to look into!

This was really interesting, sound is not a pure sinewave there are different waves combined like the cats meow has a hidden undertone that is the same pitch and frequency as a human baby's cry ... them cats are alllll about deception =^.^=

To get the overtones and undertones right, the mass has to be distributed perfectly.
So the people who make and shape these bells are *massters* of their crafts XD

Too much talk, long winded. So little information. I want to see a demonstration not just a person talking taking and talking. Boring.
