Kwasia people of Ghana land. Why must Ghanaians always mention Nigeria in any of their useless, worthless , uncivilised and childish discussions? We don't don't share anything in common with unproductive, unintelligent, unsuccessful, ambitious and uncivilised people of banku chiefdom. Ghanaians are more closer to the "Makossa" people than Nigeria.

The identity of a people is their language and names. You are a slave if you maintain the languages and names of others other than those of your nation. There is nothing wrong with being expected to speak Twi in Ghana because that is the most widely spoken language. The language used for trading and thus the language to make life bearable in Ghana. English might get you by in Ghana, but to fully enjoy your life in Ghana, it is imperative that you get to terms with the Twi language. It is the same in the Netherlands: English might get you by, but learning Dutch will make life more bearable and enjoyable.

They tell me Nigerians speaks to them in Yoruba or Igbo languages depending their look but they have to tell those Ghanaians they are not Nigerians and they experience this several times, this is not perculiar to Ghanaians women but also Ghanaians men. When you see some Ghanaians men and women, you know straight away they are Ghanaians, other Ghanaians have Yoruba or Igbo look and their accents are typical Nigerian.

I disagree that folks should speak English in certain environments. To me, I’d be very happy if English is banned as an “official language” in Ghana and prolly Africa.
I also understand that can be complicated since Twi is not the only local language in Ghana.

    • @peteryeboah9033

@Enigmatic Scorpio. Since the beginning of history twi has being the general language in Ghana. After all the twi population is more than 70 percent. Its very easy to understand even if you don't speak it. I have seen white people learn and speak Twi even where I am in the UK. English is a slavery and a foreign language but because Nigeria is a too huge a country with a lot of complications and misunderstandings they don't have a unified national language and I don't see any pride in their piggin or whatever you may call it but it's never an English language which is also a foreign slavery language to be speaking everywhere in Ghana in our own natural environment because we are not under slavery now..
Therefore is no misunderstandings about the twi language in Ghana because I know most people who are not Akans but feel very happy ti speak the Akan language their language is only understood by their own people but not the general public in Ghana as the Twi language is. That is a fact of history and can never be changed!. Thanks.

I did not make any mention about people or any kings that played or didn't play any part of slavery without the reference to any history book as an evidence and I did not also tackle on times of slavery that the word Ashanti didn't even exist where still some people make accusations against others without citations of any existing written evidence to support their claims which id not my cup on tea anyway. I am talking about the fact that nothing can ever change in Ghana when it comes to a general language but didn't mention anything like Ashanti as you read the text. Thank you.

I once asked why Russia President Called Boris jetson didn't speak English in an official visit ti England. Someone answered me and asked me why should he bring himself so low that his host does speak Russian language when they go on visits but let translators do the job but you expect him to speak the language of where he is visiting, and that made sense to me.

@@kaymends7190 If English is not a slavery language to you but your kingship language it's your opinion and everyone is subject ti his or her owb opinions. Here in the UK during my time as a sociology /Criminology student, a lecture asked me why black people names choose English names instead of their own native names of their ancestors?. I did tell the lecturer that our parents choose those names for us during baptism as Christians in our childhoods. Its didn't sit well with the lecturer and all the rest of my fellow white classmates. We were only two Africans in the class myself and one Nigerian some years back, here in Middlesbrough, NE of England. This same question was thrown to me by one of my work colleagues not a lecturer or a classroom mate. So if you are in Africa and you don't actually have ab insight about the way these people view as and largely look down on Africans because of all these things we are talking about, you will surely not have the feelings as I do as an African.
One of my mates earlier during my first degree at Northampton University had ti change his English name to a local Ghanaian name he preferred because of these white embarrassing questions so therefore you do have your experience so as mine so if i choose the word slavery language and its offensive to you or you have not heard it before then that is your opinion not mine. But I could perhaps hope that one day in your own live time you might have the experience that I have had with regards to all that we have tackled today. That's all I can say and I don't have further time to waste here.

In Nigeria, you can do without tin tomatoes because of tatashe and bawa which gives the stew a reddish appealing effect but you need tim tomatoes in Ghana to replace tatashe.

The VERY REASON why most of the other languages in Ghana are gradually diminishing. Parents from some tribes in Ghana force their kids to speak English as if it’s a badge of honor. Especially Ewes. LOL.
What I love about Akans, ESPECIALLY Ashanti’s is they will speak English just to get by in some situations but EXTREMELY PROUD to speak their own language. To extent where they take pride in teaching others how to speak it.
