      I'm pre-T but older than the majority of pre-T transmascs in my cohort which may color the reaction;
      I'm less scared of side effects (funny enough, doctors and fellow trans folk have told me all about those!) than about the effects people talking in this way (not about the side effects, but with the tone+color Nadine is talking about it) may have on doctors. I'm trying to go through my PCP and he's already wary enough about prescribing. :/

      I agree . With all the anti-trans bills being passed and the constant rhetoric, Tick tocks like this make it alot worse for transgender people. As a transgender man ftm, I'm really tired of hearing all the fear mongering. It's exhausting.

    • @coolandgood1010

      And it is also extremely irresponsible of transgender people to say that it is all rainbows and butterflies, and that it's all smooth sailing post-op. Bottom surgery is forever, and committing to permanent body transformations is lifelong. The amount of invalidation, marginalization, and hate detransitioners get from trans is absolutely sickening.

    why does every de transitioner i hear have no idea what testosterone does to you and have a doctor that fast tracks them onto it when they’re not 100% sure yet, when most stories of a trans man getting on t takes years and years with so many hurdles and forms and appointments. I know what they’re saying is true, because i’ve been on a waiting list for testosterone since i was 14. I’m now 17 and don’t think ill be able to start until 18

    • @aktdoa
      @aktdoa  6 месяцев назад +22

      i usually assume that if a person detransitions because they felt like they were “lied to” by their doctors about what testosterone would do to them, it’s either because they went to a doctor that didn’t really care about educating their patients and only wanted the money that came from providing HRT, or (more likely imo) they ignored their doctor’s warnings/advice about what HRT could potentially do to their bodies and went ahead with starting T anyways, even though they weren’t fully prepared to accept the possible negative outcomes

    Wouldn’t the T have in fact caused the male pattern baldness? Yes it was in her family history, but the fact that she experienced it as a natal female is attributable to taking T. That gene would not have been “activated” in her without the T.

    • @aktdoa
      @aktdoa  6 месяцев назад +7

      that’s what I said in the video: taking T activated the male pattern baldness gene, which they knew ran in their family, but they purposefully didn’t disclose that information in their “don’t let kids transition” video, which made people blame testosterone and caused there to be an uproar online about the “hidden dangers of HRT”…when in reality they knew all along that if they started T they ran the risk of going bald.

    The loss of bladder control one is something I've heard from a lot of public ftm detransitioners. Gotta wonder if its a stupidly rare side effect or just a good lie to scare people out of getting on T. I know that hrt for mtfs (specifically spironolactone) can cause bladder issues, but I've never seen it officially listed as a side effect of testosterone or E blockers.

    • @Cs-lu1ty
      @Cs-lu1ty 4 месяца назад +1

      I am 100 percent sure it's a result of vaginal atrophy. For most people atrophy is just dryness or being more prone to injury but I've heard of some especially unlucky people who get constant UTI type symptoms or BV or incontinence. This stuff happens to menopausal women so it's not the T that causes it necessarily It's the drop in E. And the people that get those symptoms would've gotten them from menopause anyway, they just induced it earlier, and there are ways to treat it

  • @trashmas

    the "fertility" one pissed me off thoroughly because she's talking about it like one of those people who assumes EVERYONE wants to breed. as someone who adamantly does not want and has never wanted children I've had to listen to people spew that drivel my whole life, like everything else in here she is generalizing but some people consider infertility a fucking blessing. I was around 16 when I used to cry and beg my mom for a hysterectomy, (I wasn't aware of trans people or that people could transition from female to male) but I knew I felt like a gay man trapped in a woman's body even if I didn't have the right terms for it or know of any community. at 24-28 years old I got refused a hysterectomy until I found out about transitioning, I now have a referral from a doctor and am still having trouble finding a clinic who does hysterectomies at this very moment even though I have "permission" now and NEED it for bottom surgery🙄🙄 . while I was informed and told of all that shit about freezing eggs and whatnot IMMEDIATELY before starting testosterone. (at least the endocrinologist was respectful and believed me when I said I was 0 interested) but man people really need to stfu and not speak for others cause for me the possibility of infertility is a fucking blessing and yk what I'm not alone in that, and people who don't want to reproduce are often discredited and given very little rights.
    oh and 1 yr on testosterone haven't pissed myself yet except while clumsily trying to learn to use an stp which is unrelated to hormones👍just gonna throw that in there lol

    • @aktdoa
      @aktdoa  6 месяцев назад +5

      the peeing yourself when learning to use an STP is so real stop 😭😂
      the fertility issue with testosterone seems to be a growing concern in detransitioners & ‘gender criticals’ circles…i wonder why they’re so obsessed with whether or not trans people want to have kids?

    • @trashmas
      @trashmas 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@aktdoa ahaha thank you I feel less alone now 🤣 I was on the fence about getting bottom surgery until I started using an stp.
      idk man people are weird for real. I can't imagine wanting kids ....they're annoying. not sure why it would come as a shock to me as a trans man that I wouldn't be fathering children the traditional way in the first place though. so I mean like potential infertility is kinda around every corner except for exceptions where a lot effort is made to have children for those who want it. and hold up I just realized don't alott alot of trans men happily get hysterectomies after starting hormones anyway? (not an obligation tho of course) 🤔
      this person really IS making their personal problems everyone else's problems. thanks so much for making this video clearing things up! yikes.

      These are double standarts. One one hand, transphobes are worried about transfolx fertility and on the other hand they don't want queer ppl to be parents at all bc of "corrupting" the young minds. Wtf?
      Other arguments to this nonsence:
      1.There are plenty of ppl who don't want kids. I never wanted one.
      2. Adoption is a possibility.
      3. There are trans men on T out there who actually got pregnant without effort. And had healthy babies.

    Ive been on T since 2019, I havent had any issues that were due to being on HRT. Ive used planned parenthood, Howard brown in chicago and also different endocrinologists in the US. Unless you dont get your bloodwork to check levels- levels being very high can cause issues. But all my doctors did 3 month bloodwork checkups, even with all my medical issues being disabled&chronically ill- im still ok on HRT. Well your body does change in many ways, some can be kinda uncomfy(aka hair growing in new spots) but its nothing thats deadly. Also a common misconception is HRT causes ____, instead of anyone whos a man gets _____ symptom (from having testosterone levels like this. Cis or trans). If you have bladder issues, sexual issues, or any severe issues contact your doctor asap. HRT- or any medications can affect your body differently! Everyones different, but nothing Nadeen said at all ive ever heard of happening to anyone ever. This seems like fear mongering, and exageration, and alot of assumptions. Im so glad I didnt see these things when i was pre-hrt. It wouldve scared me. Thank you Dakota for touching on this important topic.

      i think either works! when i went to PP i was just seen by a random nurse, i never had a set endo there especially bc i went to diff clinics depending on where i could get an appointment (some clinics were booked months in advance where i lived!) so that’s something to keep in mind.
      i would suggest seeing your usual endo, especially if you already have a relationship and rapport established with them. since you were a minor before, they might’ve been standoffish about the topic since it wouldn’t have been accessible for you anyways, but now (assuming that you’re no longer underage) they may be more open to helping you!

      There is though! Even if there wasn't, it is something easily observable with a few different factors. 1. What risks do biological males have associated with testosterone levels/ What illnesses are men more prone to because they have higher testosterone. 2. Menopause issues in women (in order to see what can potentially happen to the female body with less estrogen) but it is less severe for trans guys because you are replacing the lack of hormones as a whole. 3. It is easily something you can go revising with the help of an endocrinologist a lot of the issues experienced can be due to irregular hormone patterns because each body is different and in case you are experiencing issues it is something that can be helped. Saying taking testosterone is experimental it's kinda strange considering it is just the male hormone something that by the way some bological males have to take because they can experience low testosterone and it is prescribed to them. It's not methanphetamine so calm down.
