4 years for 34 victims justice is definitely blind.
yeah i sat a year for 10 bucks worth of weed in the 90's
You realize it was the guests that violated the rules and caused the fire, right?
Charging Li-Ion batteries, just like a Hoverboard or a EV car, can cause fires. Truth Aquatics had rules that ALL charging occur on the rear covered vestibule where there was a fire supression system and rear open to the air. Guests decided to disregard this and charge at their bunks, then caused a fire and people died.
The infamous italian captain got 16 for 32 deaths. The judges are an absolute circus in this case
*34 people lost their lives and he got 4 years?* That's *Serial killer* with a shoplifting punishment.
this is Cali the Golden State
4 years doesn’t seem very long considering.
Exactly !! how many Months per each person who died??? Unbelievable!!
@Mavie-Villa
Life is cheap.
@@devonremy6581 you’re right specially for some impaired judges
4 years for 34 innocent ppl killed due to his negligence; doesn't seem like enough of a penalty for the captain
Who killed who?

an honorable Captain would DIE OF SHAME after something so negligent, especially after the "justice" system fails so horribly
Instead he LEFT.
Unbelievable. 😔

@@devilshaircut9 there was no night watch, the staff weren't properly trained, he left all those people to die, that's not negligence??
Are you confusing The Company with The Captain who is not a proprietor? Does The Captain pay and train the people or does The Company do that because it is The Company's responsibility?
You seem to jump on any scape goat without using logic. Hateful and Shameful
@@devilshaircut9 sure then it's the company's fault he left them like a coward, be blindly on someone's side when there's clearly wrong doing on his on personal part, and what kind of Captain even sets sail with such a badly managed crew?? You're blind bye
4 years is punishment for the crime of cowardice. Not the loss of life.

@devilshaircut9 cut and paste, cut and paste, cut and paste on every single comment against the captain... you must be related to him, I guess, or are his really upset public defender. He's guilty and many of us feel his sentence is light. You don't just abandon ship and all the people on it even when those guests WHO DIED fkd up.
He got thirty four years for killing 34 people. The judge literally said that those people's lives is not worth a traffic stop. Thats disgusting! The system is playing in the victims faces. WTF
He got 4 years not 34
You got it wrong!! He got 4 years TOTAL for the 34 non- survivor persons
The way to correct that problem is to stop voting for these wimpy judges!
Cold-hearted captain; cowardly behavior on his part. Four years seems awful light.
Yet the passengers started the fire by breaking the rules and charging UW photo batteries in the bunk compartment.
I don't see any cowardice, only Hate from an armchair jury
The Captain is the last one to leave his ship! How did he only get four years for killing 34 people? What kind of deal with struck? Perhaps inmates will teach him a lesson!
Yeah once people hear what light sentence he got dudes are gonna get jealous and you know what

Seems far too light of a sentence for this negligent and cowardly guy. Hope he has a terrible time in prison.
Quitet unacceptable! He was the first one off the boat!
Why am I not surprised by this..
4 years not enough..
If this was a criminal act, why only 4 years? Only 42 days per fatality!!
1 year in jail ? What a joke
He's guilty 😭
I have lost a child. My heart has been ripped out. These families had their hearts ripped out and now have to face this unjust world we live in. May God hold them close. I pray he finds a way to come out of prison as someone who is a better person, not the coward he is right now.
I was hoping the press would have asked the US Coast Guard if they learned any lesson approving emergency exits that open to the same room/enclosure. They really do share some blame if they infact had inspected the vessel.
Sad for everyone concerned.
I know it's going to take some work but there's 34 families out there that can go to his parole hearing every time it comes up and get them to revoke it 34 times that will add to his time
WHAT!!
HE should have gotten LIFE...34 people? Dead because of him..
No way
This is not justice!!!
Disgusting
Prosecution should appeal this verdict. The families should sue him as well. 4 years, how ridiculous.
If it's intentional why only 4 year's or less with possible parole.
No no! Re open the case back. 4 yrs? How could this be a lesson for others?
They can't now because he's bes already been convicted. Because it would be double jeopardy.
Should have been in prison. For life's
A case that shows how a Captain is responsible for every thing that happens even if it isn’t his fault. The boat was required to have a roving watch overnight, and he assigned one but the person he assigned fell asleep.
He should be serving 34 years!!
I thought so too
Disgusting '4 for 34'. Where is the justice!? Appalling!
About 35 days w/ free food and rent per victim
Isn't the captain supposed to go down with his ship?
captain goes down with the SHIP
THAT JUDGE GOT A bribe no way only 4 yrs..thats BS.
How does this guy even say this with a straight face???
Insanely lenient sentence
Damn I'm a be Captain!!! Only four years behind bars for 34 booties, now dat's a deal D.A. we're I sign up 😂😅😮...
1 year in jail? 3 years sitting at home while everyone else has a life sentence.
4 years!? Should've been 10
Maybe, HOPEFULLY, the former captain - now inmate- will ACCEPT responsibility someday for the 34 deaths.
Many broken hearts 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔

This is why I don't travel anymore...

He tries hard to make 4 years as positive. Loss on part of the prosecution.
Wait! Why didn't the passengers abandon the ship when the captain did? 😮
@christinerhyne8093
I believe they were locked into their sleeping quarters, and no one was there to sound the alarm and help them escape. Please correct me if I’m wrong. Regardless, this was all the more tragic because it was so preventable.
and it took 5 YEARS to wrap up the case.
Hold on...didn't this same incident occur a few years ago?
34 years behind bars!! 4 years isn’t even a slap on the wrist’s he’ll be back out in no time
I agree that's alot people who died
He strikes me as a very ambitious attorney,
Sorry but the judge is wrong, the conviction should be prison for life😢
I am shocked that thus has taken so long for a conviction
42 days per victim.
I think they are missing a 3 in front of that 4....No way...
no sound
And y’all are giving him 3 years???? Ok
I dove the Conception many times. I Guarantee you the fire was started with overcharging lithium batteries! God rest their souls.
No audio
You sure? I got sound
Yt censoring ? I’m not shocked
Is this true, that people were charging batteries, that weren't supposed to be ?,
Signs of the times
He got off easy..like in nyc perps out wit 20 priors slappin punching pushin people in front trains..
I would be embarrassed if I was that prosecutor. 4 years? Should be 40 years each life lost. You just multiply the victims family.
This foo roached them out but why
Is Jerry Boylan relieved?
All the worlk by the professionals you mentioned is the toilet! Imagine being the real victim who had no where to run in a fire… not even the water you are floating on. The sentence is a joke, this is NOT justice! Four years will be a breeze and he will serve less than four years. But I’m sure there exists other types of justice and the captain will forever look over his shoulder, he is a serial ki//er. The years of hard work you speak of only filled your pockets (.)
Including Hoses, pumps, and a limitless supply of water.... lol yeah but there was a fire 🔥
That’s it 4 years
This tragedy was completely caused by the passengers.
Everytime I went SCUBA diving on Truth Aquatics ships (Conception, Truth, Vision), we were instructed "No Batteries in the sleeping area, only on the recharging stations topside" yet these Bozos are charging their Li-Ion batteries at their bunks then a FIRE breaks out. Li-Ion batteries are KNOWN to explode into Fire, SMH
This warning was derived from the prior Ni-MetalHybrid batteries which produced HUGE amounts of gas causing underwater photo equipment (strobes, e.g. Nikonos SB103) to explode. Nikon had a HUGE recall for products like these. Truth Aquatics reacted with rules against batteries in passenger's compartments. Passengers did not follow the rules and caused this tragedy
Is that what caused the fire?
And could this be the reason the judge sentenced the Captain to 4 years?
@@roseboudreaux9922 The required Night Watch was missing and that is the captain's duties but the fire was the cause of the guests. As Underwater photo divers we rely on batteries and Truth Aquatics had a HUGE pair of charging shelves with a dozen outlets aft of the cabin open to the back air and covered by Fire extinguishers , yet guests took them downstairs to their bunks and started a fire, just like a Hoverboard or EV car starts a fire
@@roseboudreaux9922 No, California does not prosecute crime in general
The fire didn’t start in the bunk room. There’s video evidence. If you took the time to read the painful details of all the investigations & reports, came to trial , as we did, you would know that’s incorrect. But , sure, blame my dead husband & his bunkmates for their deaths. That’s real big of you.
He has to meet with Almighty God like we all do even though the justice the family members want but 🙏
Dispersing crowds .Learn from srilanka 😂😂
How do u burn when your on a boat
Well if you aren't actually in the water it's pretty easy to burn and there is a lot of boat that is not submerged
Sea water is a bad extinguisher
@@raeraebadfingers well wouldn't u jump in the water u don't know as much as u think since u highlighter u reply lol but i get it not everyone has common sense
@@matthewlewis2635 if smoke inhalation incapacitates a person they can't escape, you know, due to being knocked out. Therefore burning by fire.
What's that about common sense now? Pretty bold statement.
@@raeraebadfingers that only happens mainly when people are sleeping u need common sense
RIP Condolences for the families, friends ( & my sympathy to all those who had to lay their lives in their trying to save the victims+ hope that immediate USA Laws are deployed in providing the licences to Dive Captains😮
The fact that he lived through a boat fire and he gets to laugh, read, and enjoy visits with family is another level of injustice. 🪑
