I’ve already been told that I was expected to die and gather the family (that would have me) around. Now, 50 years later, the Doctors are all dead and I am typing this! 😂🎉
Lol
Never trust a doc mate , you learnt young .
Piffle...
Hahahhahahah😂
Amen to you, sir!
I'd fear the insurance companies in the US would use it as a reason not to insure people (siting preexisting conditions)
They absolutely would! No doubt about it!
But it would save you thousands in unnecessary medical getting information.. best to know earlier.. and get appropriate support.. and it opens a niche market for such insurance
They already do it
Exactly what it is for
They 1000% would. That's why we need universal Healthcare for all US citizens.
I took that test and discovered that I died 10 years ago. Now the company has informed me that I have a zero percent chance of getting a refund.
These genetic predispositions are often just worst case scenarios if you don't take care of yourself. My 94 year old aunt did a DNA test. We figured she had the golden genome because she looks awesome (barely any wrinkles) and is doing so well. Nope. She has a terrible genome. She's predisposed to pretty much everything and should've died fairly early in life. However, she lived a very healthy life.
totally agree
Exactly.
I bet she has a great outlook on life. I feel like that makes a huge difference.
You are right, none of us have totally “clean” genes. I believe that is is not only the bad genes we carry, it may also have to do more with the gene mutations we have.
Love It. She probably still stops to smell the Roses too, I bet. Sometimes people who just live their lives outlast others because they're not obsessed with themselves. Living a simple, humble life is the key to longevity.
14 yrs gone by since this aired. The future is now. Scott and Layne are still alive and going strong!
TY for this info; it was the perfect coda to the video 🙂
this test was a scam 14 years ago and is still a scam.
Forget to die
Really lol. Dam. Everyone dies from covid now.
Oh my... Thanks for pointing out this was 14 years ago!
My parents were both unwell but lived a relatively happy lives. Living to 92 and 88 with heart , cancer and diabetes. While I'm here I'll thank God for every day above the ground as they too did. Thanks for the information, very interesting.

The Chinese have a saying, "Many illnesses long life, no illnesses short life."
Jesus is LORD !
@GMR, That makes sense, really. The more yrs. you live, the more illness and disease you will encounter. But you CAN beat cancers, and live with some long term illnesse. If you die young, you are more likely to just die from an accidental death.

I had a DNA test done about 6 months ago to see what would help with my inflammation response because of my lupus. It went so in depth that it took me about 6 hours to get through the information. It drilled down so specifically and gave recommendations as to both lifestyle changes and supplements that would help (btw they have). Learned so much from that test. It made everything make sense. When my husband saw how much information I got from mine he had his done. His biggest concern was dementia as his mother passed from it. He did not carry the gene (thank goodness). It is absolutely worth the money. Wish we would have done it earlier.
Even if you get the testing done and it says you don't have the breast cancer gene, still continue to get your nanograms. My daughter passed away from triple negative breast cancer, when doing her DNA testing to see if she was a candidate for gene therapy she was told it was a type of cancer that isn't genetic.
Hi! Your comment about the depth of the test you did intrigues me! I have lupus as well and I think a test like this would provide me with some great information. Can I ask which test you did specifically? Thank you!
I would also live to know which test you had?
Same here. I'm afraid of wasting my money on a fake test/company.
@@BegonepeasantI was going to ask the same but she doesn't seem to be answering people
I am wanting information about the test as well in hopes of helping reduce my inflammation.
Insurance companies would love to have everyone's DNA test results - that way they could deny claims due to "preexisting conditions".
That's why they are prohibited in France (with exceptions like Tribunal demand).

My great aunt had breast cancer. She died at the age of 102.
I just started watching and what comes to my mind is that in addition to genetics is your lifestyle. It's important what/how much you eat and drink, your sleep hygiene, physical, emotional and mental stress, one's daily activities, exercise, the air you breath and so forth. Best of luck to everyone.
and to you!
Our personal DNA is the one single thing we have that is uniquely ours, and it blows me away to think that the majority of people will eagerly hand theirs over to basically anyone who asks.
It blows my mind. They don’t know history or they don’t care.

My aunt had cancer on 4 different occasions. Lung cancer was what finally took her life. But she was 93 when she died…
I worry over so many health related issues that I feel it would be a relief to know.
Or, would knowing open a pandora's box of stress and hypochondria\paranoia that leads to more disease? Epigenetics says you can turn parts of your DNA blueprint on and off depending on the proteins and enzymes that surround the cells... Environmentally including built architecture and the oxidative properties and materials with their other 'quirks' that are still being discovered, it is impossible to determine the outcome. Taking a test like this, if available prior to the asbestos situation (as one example out of tens of thousands) would have been futile, alongside the myriad of newer contentious materials and chemicals being developed and that have been developed since asbestos that are yet to reveal their multi-generational cause and effects.
Also, miracles DO happen. Plenty of people can attest to this with personal experience, including myself.
The worrying will kill you.
I wouldn't mind knowing what may kill me, but I do not want to know when. Knowing what may kill me gives me a change to change my habits, but knowing my final date would be just dreadful unless that date was 200 years from now.

I am reminded of a scene from the X-Files where an agent sent to protect a medium who could predict how someone was going to die just by interacting with them, asked "Are smokes going to kill me?" the medium said "No." So the agent, smilingly went outside to light up a cig and was killed by the people sent to kidnap the medium. That's basically how I see life. For all you know this may be your last day, would you want to live it worrying about when you are gonna die or would you rather live it like it could be your last?
That's spot on and it happened to me. Busy being healthy had a medical treatment I wish id mot and now so sick can't work. Something always bites you on the asse when you least expect it ✌

I love her hair like that. I love her with shorter hair. And no I wouldn't want to know when I'm dying! This is truly fascinating.
If none of you have seen it, go watch 'Gattaca'. Its a movie about a future where at birth, doctors can diagnose how you will die, if you will be fat, bald, short, strong, weak, allergic, you name it. Any faults you may have are told to your parents right on the spot and watch how quick the parents in that film lose interest in their first born son who is said will die young of heart disease so they genetically opt to have another child who is "manufactured" during gestation to be "perfect". Its a movie worth watching about not letting the odds dictate you life and dreams of the future you want.

@@lenseyparker5396 Not sure, I have never streamed to be honest, I use to rent dvds when I saw this years ago and catch it on tv now and again. Should be somewhere online to be seen.
Just make sure you can handle the results. I tested 14 years ago and have Huntingtons Disease. Thankfully my CAG number is low which means I develop it later in life. I am later in life 55 and had to quit my teaching job. It is a hard road.
"for every man must die. His breathing stops, life ends, and in a moment all he planned for himself is ended." Psalm 146:4
Thanks for that news flash.
Actually, sometimes it can save your life as well. Found out I had a mutation that causes me not to process certain anesthetics. So they now know what NOT to give me for any surgeries.
Out of curiosity, do you have red hair? I've heard that this mutation is more common amongst redheads.
I cant take pain killers unless they are over the counter. Do you think i have the same mutation? I am going to get my test done next month to make sure.
@@joo069wow thats weird. My mom and brothers have red hair. I wonder if they have it too. I cant take painkillers but idk if they cant.
*How can it "Save your life" if everyone dies?*
Yes these are good things. For much of my life, Dentists are forever surprised how much (whatever the pain blocker is) just how much I need and how quickly is dissipates. Same with localized numbing for minor surgeries. They even ask a bit incredulous "No, really, you can feel this?" and yes I can. So, there is something going on and IF they can find that kind of mutation you're right it could save lives if a person has some strange processing that could be a life-altering thing too.
My Dad had a heart attack at just 34. He had just got home from a 6 week rugby tour in Canada and was the fittest person I knew. Luckily he was in a 'private' hospital having shoulder surgery at the time. He spent 3 months in hospital. Unfortunately the hospital was in London, 7 hours drive from where we live in Wales (uk).
My fear was it would happen to me! I'm 45 now, but during my 30's having given birth to my youngest children was I feared that I wouldn't be around to see them grow up.
But now I would like to know if my children and grandchildren have inherited my conditions.
I lost my sight in my left eye from glaucoma at 36.
My body is breaking down due to EDS, POTS, OA and RA.
I need knee, hip replacements on both sides. I have already had one shoulder replacement and need another for the other side.
I also have a brain tumour (I am receiving chemotherapy atm) and a cerebral aneurysm. I would also like to know if I might have a gene making me predisposed for all these conditions and if they are all linked.
Curious to know what age you age now😮 poor thing.. you are going through so much.
I'm sorry you're having to deal with so much. But I'm proud of you for handling it! Stay strong 💪💕
She stated that she is 45 now.
Did your dad serve in the military? Or work with chemicals?
Prayers you will be healed and by the precious blood of Jesus Christ you will come through everything victorious.
My oldest son passed away in 2017 from a brain aneurysm. He was 24. I doubt this test would be able to tell someone that 35years down the road someone will die from a blood clot. I guess its good in a way because you can maybe prolong the inevitable.
The funny thing is when you are dead you won't even know it...
I would have concerns with what "Big Brother" could do with the information, what insurance companies could do with the information, and the security of the information. I would suspect that national adversaries could use the information for some diabolical purpose, too.
Exactly!
Yes can't say the information wouldn't 'slip' into the wrong hands for the right price. Makes me think of cookies and viruses online that send you ads related to what you view online. Would you suddenly get life insurance ads, cancer, and drug ads related to the DNA information gained by the test.. or it could just be I'm really sarcastic and cynical about mankind.
Like what already happens with those "genealogy" genetic that so many fall for.
Expect they ready have it when most people sent there covid test of to the lab 😂
Exactly
Yes,
I intuitively know that I will never have colon cancer or breast cancer. I have never had a mammogram nor will I. But there is lineage of heart issues on my father's side of the family. I really want to do this test and it's really cool because it helps you go in the directions to know what to look for in to make those Corrections for your life, In your older years.
There's even a gene that let you know, you don't like to exercise 😊
I also knew I would have breast cancer and heart problems, and my son would have hemophilia. With no reason to know these things. All of them happened. I understand the intuitive diagnosis.
Not being tested is playing Russian roulette with your life because no family has ofmbreast cancer in my family and I had stage II.
Of course these results on life expectancy don’t take into account shark attacks, grizzly bear attacks, hobo attacks, car crashes, homicidal clowns, packs of wolves, gangs of randy teenagers, parkour classes, non-homicidal clowns, mimes, crimes, the new Indiana Jones movie or the upcoming breakfast menu from Arby’s.

Doesn't sound like they told them anything. Exercise, watch what you eat, lose weight...that's what everyone needs to do anyway. Sounds to me like you will just be out 400 dollars!
Omg. It's so true AND there's a questionnaire! lol
It's like calling a medium on the phone and they ASK you if someone close to you passed away and come up with letters that are the most commonly used letters in the alphabet. I worked at a cubicle having to answer questions pretending to be one of the fortune tellers, mediums, past life readers...it's so rediculous.

Let’s not forget there’s accidents that can take place at anytime. You can’t wrap yourself to tightly in these test. I honestly believe, we have a date before we’re born and that’s when we go.
I had a DVT in my leg. My PCP recognized the symptoms and sent me to the ER. Turns out I have a genetic blood clotting disorder from one parent ( don’t know which one ). I very well could have died from a blood clot. Both my sister and Mom died at a young age. My Mom from cardiovascular disease, my sister unknown. Did they have this genetic mutation? Could have knowing this extended their life. If yes, my daughter could have had a grandmother she never knew.
You & your family should absolutely aschew all vaccines for cv's to avoid the clots.
Your more at risk, for a clot, after vaccine. I’m talking from experience. I have antithrombin 3 deficiency, nobody in my family has it.

"If they're good we party, if they're bad we party and if they're real bad we get a second opinion" - love ya work Scotty!
The main issue here is epigenetics. Certain genes will get turned on or off depending upon environmental conditions, stressors, and exposures. So you cannot say that having a gene for something means you will necessarily get the condition for many issues, and you also cannot say that not having a gene will stop it from happening if environmental factors then subsequently alter things. Parents genes in their eggs and sperm will actually alter depending upon their life experiences and trauma experienced. Same goes with a fetuses genes being altered depending upon what stressors or good things mom is experiencing during pregnancy. Look into the studies on epigenetics and trauma and studies done on mice with epigenetics.
Well stated!
Excelente point here!
Virtually all of it has to do with your diet and if you are living in the proper environment for your skin color. People within families tend to all eat the same way and live in the same type of areas

I'm extremely surprised they're allowing comments on a "60 Minutes Australia" video.
I also fear what the government my do with all that personal info.
I like the idea of this test, because you can tell your doctor what to screen for that isn't standard. The worry is that if you don't have national medical coverage, you could be denied health insurance because of "pre-existing conditions." I'm so grateful I live in a country where I don't have to worry about that, and that doctors appreciate having as much extra info as they can get. I can't wait until they offer these tests as part of a standard diagnostic, because right now you still need to pay quite a bit for them, and not everyone can afford it. When gene therapy becomes more mainstream and affordable, it's really going to revolutionize the world.

I've had my genome sequenced several times, including twice the full genome. I have to know everything! I have predispositions for DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis) and lung cancer. Lung cancer took out my grandfather at age 67. If I'd been a sedentary obese smoker all these years, I likely wouldn't be here. Turns out I never smoked a single cigarette and have always been physically active with a 22 BMI. My biggest fear is acquiring alzheimers; runs in my family especially in females. 😢
Then stop fussing over your cholesterol. Alzheimer's is mainly found in those watching their cholesterol and taking cholesterol lowering drugs.
My mother passed from Alzheimer’s. There is a variant called the Apoe4 gene where it increases your risk. We all have an Apoe 2, 3 or 4. Nutritionally speaking eat clean, lower the fat, and exercise regularly. This is what I’m doing to help prevent the chance I could get it..

@@michelled219 Lowering the animal fat is what causes these problems to begin with🙄. Nobody ever heard of Alzheimer's prior to the fake, government created "healthy diet" in 1977. We are all going to die anyway, you can try to eat good, live stress free, exercise, and do the most important thing, tell people you love them and be kind. Life is a gift, and I have taken care of many ill people and can also say death is a gift too. Giving DNA to any company seems like a terrible idea for so many reasons. I just watched a video where they are testing the stuff that goes into wastewater treatment facilities and found someone with a different strain of COVID and got it down to what neighborhood they live in and what building they work at, so were asking the local people if anyone met those qualifications because they wanted to do some testing and collect some data...... If it soothes you to know when you’re going to die? Go for it. I’m already sick with Lung disease… I don’t need a glimpse I live it every day.
But here’s my question- why would you do this to yourself? It doesn’t matter how you go- we all go. So why would you set yourself up like this? Knowledge IS power! It is! But take it from someone who not only is actively dying, but also knows what it feels like to face this…. Don’t do this to yourself. We all have to die. Enjoy whatever you can for as long as you can. Life is a gift and growing old is privilege denied to a lot of us.
Maybe good to know if it’s something you can do to prevent it from happening. If I’m more disposed to getting something I’d change my diet and lifestyle in general to make the chances of it happening less.
I think it does matter how you go...Why do you have lung disease...?
Praying for you. Thank you for sharing
I agree. My dad has heart disease, and after his diagnosis, he tried convincing me its genetic and I'm probably going to have heart disease and be miserable like him. I wasn't mad to hear that, but I was disappointed that my dad was so hell bent on convincing me I was genetically flawed and was going to die young. Has it influenced my decisions in life? Maybe. Has it changed the fact that I live with tons of overbearing stress and poor lifestyle choices such as smoking that I picked up at 11 because my parents made it normal and available in their home? My dad's heart attacks were "stress related". I attribute his poor health to his poor choices in life, just as I would say the same for myself if I should realize the same fate. It doesn't matter what your DNA says anyway. I doubt it can predict when that bus is going to hit you.
@@KaiserSoze357 because in 2017 I caught the h3N2 flu, developed pneumonia, and ended up septic. It damaged my lungs to the point where I only have the lower love on each side and 1 liter of capacity. I have huge “bowls” in my lungs where I had abscesses… now I have bullous disease. Sever copd. End stage is stage E, I’m in stage D.
The thing about knowing is you can then start to minimize your risk if possible but I also understand not wanting to know. Ultimately God will decide how and when our ticket gets punched.
Ur absolutely right
Only if your religious and in this case not everyone is religious and neither am I. Religion is the biggest lie ever created in our history. It’s all about money and having control over the population.
Where's your proof of a god?
@Sandra Wade that's right there is no 100% proof of God.Its a scam.
@@SandraWade666 If you look hard enough, you find it everywhere, and also in the most unexpected places. If you don't want to look, don't want to know, then that is up to you.
My doctor told me I had six months to live. When I couldn't pay the bill he gave me six more months.
How about looking before you cross the road, or just trusting the green crossing light? Being happy without spending most of your income shopping and sightseeing?
I have trust issues and don't believe this data would be safe after sending it off
Because you have the “don’t trust anyone” gene.
If this were free to all, imagine the preventative measures that could be taken. 🤔
This product wouldn't exist without someone trying to make money. Fortune Teller industry is getting desperate for gullible people.
Someone else who wants free stuff. Will it ever end? Sheesh.
Both sides of my family live long lives. If you die before you're 90 everyone says you're a quitter. So I'm interested in bone health and mental capacity. I will take this test if it's reliable.
It appears this video was created over 14 years ago.
At 1:30, you see the test package being hand-dated to (depending on date format used) either May 3, 2009, or 5 March 2009
When were these tests done? When was this recorded? When did it originally air? Did that test say '09 as in 2009? (The package that the red head wrote that date on.) Or did I read it wrong?
2009
You read correctly.
In the USA Life Insurance companies will gather this information and customize policies for new clients that exclude coverage for any condition a person might be at risk for!
The first step to fixing a problem is to know about it.
This is a very interesting subject. I have always known, just a knowingness, how I am going to greet this world. Some kind of strangeness the rest don't? Just to add. I don't know when....
What on earth are you talking about..?
What?
