      Actually, there is numerous public hunting areas(BLM) where we hunt, and we periodically get permission to certain areas on certain days. We do our homework.

    You will never kill a big buck by killing the dinks. Most residents do pass them up only to have a none residents shoot them behind you. Good old days are gone and lost forever 😢😢

      Do you think these were young bucks?

  • @nt3523

    I've watched the mule deer hunting in Montana go from phenomenal to poor in 20 years. There used to be actual big, mature bucks everywhere. The first buck should have been passed. 3 year old. Second buck, better, but not 'old' like they think. Maybe a 5 year old. These guys just don't know what an old deer looks like. Third buck, another young buck. Would've been a killer buck in a year or two. None of these bucks are old or big. Nothing that would score over 160. Montana's mule deer population is down 70-80% according to FWP. They know it but won't do anything about it. Soon, we'll be just like Washington and have to go ruin some other state's hunting.

      You are correct about the quality of the bucks. Two years ago I watched six bucks get killed in one day out of one basin and none of them would’ve been over 140. All but one of the trucks were non-resident from Washington. Hunting has gotten so commercialized and there’s a lot of hunters that just want to see themselves on RUclips videos no matter what they shoot. When all of the 18 to 20 inch bucks are being killed it’s tough to get any mature bucks in an area. The sad part is, it’s going to get worse.

    • @nt3523
      @nt3523 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@mtarcheryguy1 It's sad. I guess most guys just don't know what a big muley buck looks like. It takes 180 to be considered 'trophy' class by FWP and 190 minimum for B&C. Those six bucks were probably 2 and 3 yr olds.

      You’re a typical Montana native. Washington is ruined but it’s not from being over hunted and shooting “young” deer, it’s from being overtaken with cats and Indians that shoot every single living thing that moves in it’s wintering ground. With zero management or control on what’s went on just on those 2 subjects have crippled Washington and us outdoorsman have to suffer…Would I have killed those bucks if I had Montana tag. No,but I didn’t draw the tag nor did I pay to go and hunt there, they did. They killed the bucks that they liked and paid for. Since when is everyone 200” trophy buck hunters. It getting ridiculous, shoot the bucks “YOU” like and let them shoot what they like. It’s about the experience. Quit being stingy with your money and go hunt another state Jim Shockey.

      You first say it takes a certain score to be considered a 'trophy' class mulie, but then you talk about age....how far have we fallen as a hunting community to always judge a successful hunt on the number of inches. SAD!

    The negative comments from Montana residents are from people that have not educated themselves about the state’s economic windfalls from out of state hunters. Montana’s outdoor recreation accounts for almost 5% of their GDP, much of which is spent by out of state residents. I’ve hunted there 3 times and many of the residents are extremely unfriendly towards nonresidents. They’re either uninformed about the economic impact, or stupid.

    Exactly why you can't find a mature buck in Montana.. too many out of staters like this shooting mediocre bucks.
    Come hunt our wolves..
