  • Basler Ace camera setting will be lost if the camera loses power. But using the Basler pylon software you can save user configuration settings. Pylon won't let a beginner user save user setting to a camera. You must be in Expert Guru mode. The video shows how to enter "Guru" mode, and how to save directly to the camera. As a bonus, you can see how to get the description and XML parameters of each camera feature.

      Nice camera, I haven't had a chance to use that one yet. You're right, looks like pylon v7.4 doesn't have the guru mode. For the camera I tested (aca1300-60gm) I had to select the camera in the devices list (at the top left). That made a connection to the camera and all of the camera settings show up at the bottom left in a box called "Features-All". If you don't see "features - All" you can open it from the 'Window' menu. The Features-All window has a list of categories, such as the camera, stream parameters and image format. Configuration Sets should be listed under the camera name category. One thing to note, the software will not let you save the user sets if the camera is acquiring images. the 'user set save' is disabled while the camera is streaming images. just hit the stop button at the top to stop acquisition, then you can save the user settings.

    i am using baler camera and external light source for defect identification. when light is on i get more reflection on product. i adjust all things in pylon software, but nothing works. how to avoid the reflection

    • @LowtechLLC
      @LowtechLLC  2 месяца назад

      There are a couple of techniques in lighting to remove reflection. One is to have even lighting all around the object. That would be to create a light chamber with diffuse white light. Another idea is to move the light you have to a "dark field" position. This will light the part, but only the edges will reflect the light back to the camera. that doesn't work for flat or smooth objects. If you have no other option than to place the light near the camera, and the reflection is too strong, put a polarizing filter on the front of the lens. That helps, but it isn't the complete solution. To completely eliminate the reflection, the light must also have a polarizing filter. These two polarizing filters should be rotated 90 degrees to each other.
      I'll see if I can find a link to an example. probably on the Edmund Optics web site. If you need a polarizing filter for the lens, look at Mid-west optical systems -PRO-032-xxx filters. might cost $100. Edmund optics sells sheets of polarizing film you can cut and place on the light.

    Hello! And maybe you know the monochrome model a504k!
    There is such a camera - but I don’t know what wires, how and what to connect to! Help me please!
    Maybe there is a video or something else! And what lenses are suitable for this model? Thank!

    • @LowtechLLC
      @LowtechLLC  3 года назад

      The a504k is a camera link camera. You need camera link acquisition card and a camera link cable with the correct size connectors on each end. The camera side will need an MDR connector, the camera link card will be either an MDR or SDR connector. You will need to check the camera link card manual to know which connector it uses, but the SDR connector is a lot smaller than the MDR.
      Thing is, your asking about an expensive and obsolete piece of technology. Don't take this the wrong way, but I hate camera link. It has short distances, expensive acquisition cars, and extremely complicated configurations. It is only ever needed when extremely large images need to be acquired extremely fast. If you got the camera for free and want to explore then good for you! But don't sink too much money into it. There are basler gige vision linescan cameras that are easier and cheaper to use. Check ebay for Basler runner cameras. You'll find them for less money than what a camera link acquisition card costs.

    In which image format does the camera automatically save its images?

    • @LowtechLLC
      @LowtechLLC  3 месяца назад +1

      Well, the camera itself won't save an image. The software running on the computer will need to save the image. The camera will hold the last image it acquires in memory. The software just sends a series of register values to set up image acquisition. Most of the time, the acquisition is set to "continuous". This will make the camera send every frame it acquires over the ethernet connection. The software on the computer puts all of the data packets back together into an image. The image format is a definition of what is inside those data packets. For a monochrome camera, use the format mono8. This is 8 bits per pixel, uncompressed.

    • @my_ease
      @my_ease 3 месяца назад

      @@LowtechLLCin the case you described: the uncompressed image is in the ".bmp" format, isn't?

    • @LowtechLLC
      @LowtechLLC  3 месяца назад +1

      @@my_ease they are very similar, but not exactly the same. The image data, that is the order of the pixels and the number of bytes per pixel is the same as a bitmap. But, I think a .bmp file has a little bit of extra data at the start of the file that defines the width and height of the image.

    Hi, I have basler camera acA2040-180kc and frame grabber. I want to install it. Can you help me?

    • @LowtechLLC
      @LowtechLLC  Год назад

      That camera uses camera-link communication. Camera-link is more difficult to use than ethernet or usb. The first thing i recommend is to get the camera link frame grabber card set up with the software from that company. I have used National Instruments camera link cards, but there are other companies who make them. With National instruments you need a camera file for the acA2040-180kc. A camera file is a set of parameters and a memory map in the camera. It tells the camera link card how to receive the pixels from the camera and how to change the camera's settings. What frame grabber card do you have?

      If it is the pylon software should support the card. Here's a link to the pylon download www.baslerweb.com/en/downloads/software-downloads/
      There is a separate frame grabber SDK that has drivers and programs to control the frame grabber, i found this link to the SDK. www.baslerweb.com/en/downloads/software-downloads/framegrabber-sdk-5-10-0-windows-64bit/
      What is unique to me is the PoCL or Power over CameraLink feature. That can power the camera from the camera link card over the camera link cable. I've never had the option to use that, I've always had to power the camera from a separate power supply. I expect PoCL might be a feature that has to be turned on in the pylon software,but i don't know. docs.baslerweb.com/frame-grabbers/pocl-support-micro-diagnostics
      The frame grabber might need to get power from the computers power supply directly, that is there might be a "hard drive" style cable that can connect the card to the power supply.
      Definitely ask basler support to help you get your first image. www.baslerweb.com/en/sales-support/support-contact/

      [I wrote this before I realized you are using a Linux OS. I don't think I have an answer]
      Try running Pylon as administrator. Right click on the desktop icon and select "run as administrator". In the Tools > Options > Recording menu, the Video (AVI) [radio button] dot can't be selected? It sounds like the operating system is missing Microsoft DirectShow or there was an error accessing the codecs. If it is DirectShow, I'm not sure how you get that. Maybe try this link, but it is a full SDK: docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/directshow/directshow
      Also make sure the output folder is a folder that does not need any user permissions to write the file.

    Hai sir, how can we reduce the capture time of bazler camera using pylon software, now it is taking abt 12sec

    • @LowtechLLC
      @LowtechLLC  2 года назад

      12 seconds is a long time. I'm going to assume that the exposure is slow. These steps will help you have a faster exposure time. 1) Is the area you are viewing dark? If yes add more light to the scene. 2) If the lens has an adjustable iris, open the iris to let in more light. For most Basler Ace cameras setting the iris to f/4.0 will give the sharpest image and let in a usable amount of light. The smaller the f/# the more light is let in to the camera. [f/2 = ( ) f/4 = O f/8 = o f/16 = . ] 3) In Basler Pylon Viewer, look at Feature | 'Your Camera Name' | Analog Controls. Set these values: Gain Auto = OFF ; Gain Selector = Digital All ; Gain Raw = a middle value ~33 (move the slider to the middle) ; Black Level Selector = All ; Black Level Raw = 0 (select a middle value, zero is in the middle) 4)In Basler Pylon Viewer, look at Feature | Acquisition controls. Set the following settings: Trigger Mode = Off ; Trigger Delay (Abs) = 0.0 ; Exposure Mode = Timed ; Exposure Auto = Off ; Exposure Time (Abs) us = 80000. This is an exposure of 0.080 seconds or 80 milliseconds. Use the single shot button to get an image. It could be a dark image. Note how much time it takes to get the image. The image should be displayed in less than 0.5 seconds. If it is you can increase gain or exposure to make the image brighter.
      If the image still takes 12 seconds the problem is NOT the exposure. In Pylon Viewer look at Feature | Acquisition controls. Check the following settings: Enable Acquisition Frame Rate = False (not checked) ; Acquisition Frame Rate (Abs) = 100000 (some large number).
      If you are using a Gigabit Ethernet camera look at the settings Feature | Transport Layer. They should be set to this: Packet Size = 1024 [ok to use 8120 if your network supports Jumbo Frames, if you are unsure use 1024] ; Inter-Packet Delay = 0 ; Frame Transmission Delay = 0 ; Bandwidth Reserve = 10 ; Bandwidth Reserve Accumulation = 10.
      I hope you get it working.
