You are indeed the best cover guy on youtube that I have seen. Clean, easy to see, and simple thoughtful hand movements. Thank you, and keep up the great work, it inspires me to learn new material.
dam dam dam !!! you are King... and I've play that song a million times and I just seen the Best.. Rock on and Thank you for posting.. You make me smile again ,,,,,,,,,,,
Kent, Great job with this one. Really like how you executed the arpeggio in the beginning. I also wondered how those faded in chords are played before the solo. Something so simple yet I never seen it pulled off correctly. Once again another awesome job. Keep up the good work!
well its hard to hold the note and turn the volume knob with your ring finger. and eddie had his knob a little closer, and on top of that he has rediculously long fingers. and even then eddie couldnt make it swell very smoothly.
Definitely dig the harmonics......nice stuff.. my guitar doesn't sound that good yet, sucks being a lefty because i have to upgrade for the desired tone...
@mirrorr2 I personally use 12's on my fixed bridge guitar because I go into Drop B alot. Whereas on my Floyd Rose guitar I use 10's with heavy bottom strings (.52 Low E) because that stays in Standard but I don't have to adjust my playing style too much as the bottom is still heavy
First of all, I wish I could play a tenth as well as this guy. So, I'm simply asking a question... I wonder why he chose not to do the two little quick sixteenth palm-muted notes in he main riff. Instead, he just does one eighth note. It's such an important part of the main rhythm to me... just curious.
Good advice, but on my guitar, I found the volume nobs are insensitive. There's really no difference between 10 and 1. All it seems to know is 10, and 0. It's a Michael Shenker (excuse the misspelling) Flying V Dean.
a modeling amp lacks dynamics and never acts like overdriven tubes (volume wise, tone wise, compression, you name it). turning up the volume pot pushes a digital device in a different way than it would push a 12ax7.
Sorry i forgot to mention i have the 80x which isnt trebley at all. The chorus in my opinion sounds awesome on clean and the dyna amp distortion is awesome which is only on the 80x. The delay and reverb are descent but the effects ehhh. It was an awesome amp for the money and sounds a million times better than the 30x but now having listened to the vox i agree that it has a slight advantage of effects and distortion but the clean couldnt possibly compare to the jazz clean on the 80x.
kent I love you and I buy a vox tonelab LE to emulate your sound because you are fantastic. Please can you send me you setting because I go on your website but I haven't the program to open the file of settings. In Italy we are crazy for you and you should be send a video to music man!
hmmmm? i know for a fact that there are very few amps that compare to its clean, i will look into the VOX amps. The effects are ok for the price have you even played one, just wondering cause ive never heard someone dis a roland? and no hard feeling its all personal preference.
Dude, that rocks. I hate to be that guy, but, are there tabs for what you're doing? I've got two different VH music books and neither are close to what you're doing and I can't pick it up just watching you.
Yeah, plus it's not fair to call it that. I mean, to sound as 'in your face' and loud as EVH....you gotta play..y'know..loud. And I bet he can't crank it up like that wherever he is. But while it's not the same tone, it still sounds good, and that's what counts imo.
Literally the best unfamous guitar player on youtube.not a fan of arpeggios tho but the rest sounded spot on and superb.
Most excellent play! cheers to this great craft.

Van Halen might need a doctor, but Kent Carlevi's guitar playing couldn't get any healthier. Awesome!!
You make it look so easy but hard work does pay off great job
One of my fav Van Halen songs..nicely done!
dam dam dam !!! you are King... and I've play that song a million times and I just seen the Best.. Rock on and Thank you for posting.. You make me smile again ,,,,,,,,,,,

Best anonymous guitar player on RUclips
Kent,

unbelievable!
I like how you don't do a note for note cover. You add your own flavor to it
very good. can't wait for some more DLR songs and Sammy songs
Thank god we still have Kent.
oh wow...best one yet!
smooth as silk!!
dude, you are awesome man. I wish i could play like that

dude, that rocks. I'm going to have to work on my version. I'm way too sloppy, your's is killer
good stuff! "I" Think this is better than having to listen to davey lee sqweking and grunting.
Holy fuck! That arpeggio at 0:24 nearly made me shit my pants! Nice guitar, VERY NICE PLAYING.
actually i dont know if youve heard of the roland cube series but they have phenominal sound quality, are very reliable, and loud as hell!
Awesome!
this guy can defenitely cover for Van Halen...NICE !!!
@mirrorr2 Try em both, see what suits you best, you only really have to worry about string gauges when you drop tune alot.
cirurgical performance! 5 stars!

5 Star rating !!!!
love the camera angle ...but a front veiw would help others with the chords !! i check ur site weekly for more vids ... ur truely amazing...

you rock!!!
since it's early van halen, it has to be half step down and the key is i believe in mostly d and e
SWEET!!!!!
a riff is part of a song usually the main guitar part
a lick is basically any hard guitar piece
Ernie Ball Music Man Axis. Kind Eddie used in the 90's
Good advice, but on my guitar, I found the volume nobs are insensitive. There's really no difference between 10 and 1. All it seems to know is 10, and 0. It's a Michael Shenker (excuse the misspelling) Flying V Dean.
Nice drum tracks!
I hope Eddie rocks on the 07-08 tour
he sucked lol
Sabe me dizer como ele fez esse drum track? Ezdrummer?
awesome man you play well ha ha ha hhhhhhhhaaaaaa
Sweet..!!!

play sweet child or mine.me fascinates your sound arrangements. listen very well. greeting from mexico
Cool man
true but the tonevox is the vheapest thing you can get to what eddie used

I got the vox, and it work sooooooooooo nice :D maybe because i got and ibanez prestigo? anyway, kent is awsome!
hihi you rox kent, great skill :)

this is the gresatest fuckin guitar playing i have ever seen holy shit!!!
genius tabarnak
Still the best, in my opinion
Very nice. Is your Axis a quilt or flame? I have a blue flame top.
Very cool. Better than Tony Bradbury I am sure!
it starts with the fingers thats whats said by the man himself EVH but u get most (99%) of the tone from amp and guitar
another screamer from kent da man
is it just me or does this guy have magic fingers?his hands just glide up the fret board!
Perfect Execution !!!
You rules man !!!
hmmmm? i know for a fact that there are very few amps that compare to its clean, i will look into the VOX amps. The effects are ok for the price have you even played one, just wondering cause ive never heard someone dis a roland? and no hard feeling its all personal preference.
Don't think this is a room for amp and vox anyway =D maybe we should just comment his FUCKING AWSOME videos, hope he will make more soon :D
ones with magnets
Your missing the best part..the chug pulloff in the beginning. chomp the 3rd fret 2 twice and pulloff the the open A
Agreed.
I don't need no Doctor
nope just big pharma

hey man , i know your gonna tab that little improv u did in the intro haha seriously though
I have always wanted to know the name of that technique you use from 2:08 - 2:10 (sliding the edge of your hand over the strings)
Can you make more videos!
which strings are better for rock and roll 9 or 10
lol simpli perfect
agree
How about some tabs for 0:24? it would make me happy
U Rocks...THis is probably bubblegum music for you. Huh?
bucket head or marty friedman tornado of souls
The Axis is flat.
agreed i bought the amp more for jazz.
a riff is the basic structure of any part (eg. verse ,chorus) of a guitar piece.
yeah but he could use the original song not a backing track. ur rite this guy culd be him
Lets see your video.
how do u do that trick with the harmonics from 2:08 to 2:12?
2;35 killer
PLEEEEEEEEEEEEASE, play Van Halen - Dirty Movies
really? what did i do to deserve the thumbs down twice ?
dude where did you get that backing track?
@peterpetersnbg give it a rest guy.
He does trust me I know :).
