Poilievre slams Trudeau over hefty bill for queen's funeral stay while Canadians are "out of money"

  • During question period in the House of Commons on Thursday, Leader of the Opposition Pierre Poilievre criticized Prime Minister Justin Trudeau over reports that bills paid by the government included $6,000 a night hotel stays for the Canadian delegation during Queen Elizabeth's funeral. Meanwhile, Canadians are experiencing "the fastest rising interest rates in 30 years and inflation in four decades."
"When will the government realize that Canadians are out of money and the party's over here?" he asked the Liberals.
He also brings up the video of Trudeau singing in a hotel lobby in London, England days before the queen's official state funeral which had sparked debate on social media.
Minister for Families Karina Gould said Poilievre "seems to have amnesia" because over the past two years, the Liberals have supported Canadians in "their darkest hour," by providing monetary relief for businesses and families.
Speaker of the House Anthony Rota had to chime in to remind the leaders of parliamentary language after Poilievre was "kind of pushing it."

I've been paying into E.I. for years and they had the audacity to tell me I have to pay back something that I didn't apply for in the first place when there are mechanisms (I pay taxes and E.I. premiums) in place for THIS specific reason. Yes I spent the CERB. I had to survive. But I would've been fine with just my regular E.I. benefits that I was entitled to. Now I'm in debt and they expect me to fork out $200 a month.

Surprise, now people have a deadline to repay their CERB and CEBA (granted there will be a fight to extend the deadline), oh and the CEBA payments which didn't have to be fully repaid, now do need to be fully repaid.
You and I saw through the lies and knew this was coming, but many others believed what their government told them, that they have our backs. The GST repayment of about $300 over 6 months (which no low class married couple or working family I know qualifies for) and dental care for children is really going to help us dig ourselves out of mass inflation. This is the same government that admitted they chose to keep the borders and airports open to international traveling for a month after learning of a potentially deadly virus coming out of China. Myself and 50% of my co-workers had already been sick in Jan 2020 with the worst flu we had even had along with 50% of the people at my church. 3 months later we weren't allowed to enter church as per government order. We should have locked down on January 1, 2020 when it was known that China was being ravaged by the virus. The government had our backs though and waited until every province was infected before locking down in March 2020. Justin Trudeau admitted his government chose to wait a month longer and spoke as though he was going to be awarded a badge of honour.
