I totally understand. I'm in a similar situation. Telling my whole family not to take council from their mother. My last calling was relief society president. Then I woke up to the corruption. It's so sad. Following Christ is where we should be focusing our attention, not men. 😌 Thank you for sharing.

Following Christ: read D&C 1:38-39 I follow Christ with my whole heart and soul and I believe this is His gospel set up according to His word and that He has called watchman to warn and guide us through the world’s enticings.

Just finished Jeremiah and that is eye opening especially chapter 23. Really all his writings as he was a lone voice. It did not matter the people they were all following the leader. It is like the blind leading the blind. Hell gapes open the mouth and a sure destruction but Judah would not turn around in those days. They trusted the arm of flesh and their own hubris rather than God. His life was constantly on the line. If a Jeremiah came today he would be rejected out of hand for not having the right speak from the group, or being the group.

Haven't read Jer. 23 in months, but I presume you see that Jer. 23 refers to the "Latter-days," and that it denounces adultery as much as homosexuality -- both common in society these days, as well as those who support those lifestyles, and that the second half of the chapter also refers to "false prophets," those God did not send, some of which speak "I have a dream..." And you recognize that, by studying the rest of Jeremiah, that those (false) prophets that God did not send also refer to all those false teacher, e.g., college professors, soothsayers (which are prognosticators and commentators, like those on TV and You Tube), school teachers, politicians, and so many others--all of which he is referring to as (false) prophets that God did not send--but that we listen to. Yes, Jer. 23 is a great chapter. We should all pay more attention to it.

@@Henry-Brock I would agree with you entirely except for commentators. I think there is value in folks putting out their ideas. There are many trying to deceive, that is very very true. But among them are sincere folks who are prompted to share their awakening understanding. So discernment is key.

Yeah I can see the point you're making that the leaders have gone astray. I left a long time ago because I didn't trust my fate in their hands, and they sounded like they were speaking more from corporate selfishness than speaking from God. Also that's pretty messed up your local leaders told your wife not to listen to you. Are they advocating for healthy marriages or not?? Also I know you're not saying this out of some "spirit of the devil" or malice or something. People who say that are just mad at you for disagreeing which is a sign that they're brainwashed. At least you think for yourself. Good job on your part.

This is no power grab, at least not for anyone who says they believe the Book of Mormon, or has read it, because he is simply stating what the Book of Mormon says, "And trust no one to be your teacher nor your minister, except he be a man of God, walking in his ways and keeping his commandments." (Mosiah 23:14) And after minister we could logically insert "nor your counselor, nor your therapist, nor your...(etc., etc.)". BUT, that is no call for twisting President Nelson's words into saying he is denying one spouse over another, because that would be totally dishonest and disingenuous, for he has said 10X as many times that both partners are to be equal partners. This video, and most of the comments below, are just looking for something to fight and argue about, thinking they're going to make President Nelson look bad, but they only embarrass themselves. Come'on guys!

"Mormonism is truth, and embraces all truth from whatever source." Paraphrase (because I don't know/too lazy to look up the exact quote) of Joseph Smith. Oh wait, Joseph is a dead prophet, and we aren't Mormons any more.

Respectfully, I just mean that church correlated materials are intended to convey a certain narrative and convert people. They are not written with the goal of presenting a complete or even accurate picture. Not only that, but the official approved narrative changes drastically every couple of generations. I spent 40 years reading and loving church approved materials, only to find out I was intentionally misled. And now I am so much more spiritually healthy, free, and clear minded. We may consider that perhaps sometimes certain aspects of the church fall into the category of great and spacious building.

@@RebeccaGroendyke I feel it is one thing to think about something and quite another to actually become Something. Jesus could have thought long and hard about becoming The Christ, but it wasn’t until He actually performed the labor of atoning sacrifice for us that He became the Savior. It’s the difference between trying to do something and actually doing it. Similarly, a woman doesn’t just think about birthing a baby, but actually has to go through the labor and deliver before the infant. God bless.

I seek forgiveness for any comments that I added that caused disharmony. I just read and wanted to share this quote with all of us:
When we cheer the failure of another, do not fully sustain and support one another in our Colleens, whisper about going on in the neighborhood, Family, or community we are promoting disunity and drive away “at-one-ment” that can be ours as members of the church. What can we do today to turn away from any thoughts or feelings that can create disharmony?
Christ is the at one ment we seek through His atonement.

How about " stand for something! Did you know in the Bible that Moses people ended up for 40 years because they would not fight the battle. They may not have known how but God was upset with them for not fighting for their city God told them he would help them obtain. Bible atory. There are times when God gives you permission to stand up for yourself. I am not cheering for failure I am cheering for let's be honest, set the example of integrity. l
