    I sold my ONX620 and bought a fully optioned 630 with ingress expert. You must have this option to fully test ingress as it has the auto agc adjustment where you can fine tune the rf level into the meter so it doesn't go into overload.
    If you detect ingress at the GB I would then use the JDSU Smart ID Plus system with Smart ID's and check the ingress on each drop inside the house. The Smart ID Plus has sweep mode which tests splitter throughput at the same time. If you detect ingress on a drop put a terminator on it and check again.
    Ingress is tough. Can eat up your day.

    What's up cable family, I have a question about a job I had recently. A yr long issue, cust has pixelation on video. Being the 3rd tech there; I replace the drop from the tap to the gb. And the equipment. And also referred to maintenance. Cust has a microwave right next to the modem and her set top box. Would the microwave cause interference?

      If your good at the ground block its in the house for sure. I really like the JDSU Smart ID Plus system which when used with the another Smart Plus can sweep the customers wiring to out to 1.5 gig. The PLUS ID outputs the sweep and the regular Smart ID's see it and report.
      It will show all splitter's and taps and do ingress tests. There's something sneaky in the walls thats getting you. Smart ID Plus will find it.

      It could but generally only when it is cooking something. Would have better odds of messing with the wifi since it is a similar frequency range.

    99 times out of 100 its a loose connector behind a modem...the one time its not it is a lose connector behind the modem. I have about 75% of the people I filter for ingress get reconnected with even attempting to repair.

    Whenever I do an ingress scan at the ground block, it reads "excessive ingress" unless i unhook the cpe inside the home first. Should the boxes be causing noise like that?

    • @thebasiccablechannel7464
      @thebasiccablechannel7464  5 лет назад +1

      I've heard a "world box" can cause that issue on the meter. Otherwise equipment should be silent on the upstream without downstream going to it. I've also heard of a possible update from Viavi to help correct the message as well. Also check to see if your "AUTO AGC" is turned on in your ingress scan program.

      You pretty much have a locked Viavi w/o full ingress expert. They have different types of Viavi's they issue out and yours is probably the 2,000 dollar one without all the options. And yes, the equipment will cause feedback spikes that will lead you to go "OVERRANGE" so they recommend you disconnect ALL equipment in the house, put a barrel on it before running a one check out the ground block.
      As for seeing ingress, unless you got a DSAM say goodbye to that! You gotta just do what you can (or replace the line) to fix it till the meter no longer says "OVERANGE". There is supposedly a "patch" to fix that but all they did was change "OVERANGE" to "EXCESSIVE INGRESS"

      My company taught us to check a true ingress on drop or outlet you need to put barrel and terminator on the other end.

      The ONX620 does not have the range adjustment in Ingress mode you must use a pad till its happy. The ONX630 has an agc adjustment you can turn the level up and down till the ingress level is good. Port #2 is very sensitive to rf level unlike Port #1.
      The ONX630 is fantastic as it has Heatmap and Noise selections in ingress mode really shows any issue quite clearly.
