    I have never been even comfortable in income. I have tithed faithfully and indeed, God has honored that. I also have given 10percent offering. Even when it has looked impossible. More recently, I am giving more than 10 percent in offerings. God has not failed to care for my needs. I and everything i have are His anyway. He's awesome!

    I know a guy that came into the faith a few years ago, who would religiously play the lottery. His reasoning was, that if he won then he would give it to God. Well he did win - $200,000 dollars! And how much of it did he give to God? $500. True story

    This was great + encouraging up until the pie chart. 10% to tithe + 10% to offering plus 10% for savings - this is unsustainable in current inflation. Many are battling to keep a roof over their head + keep the lights on and food in their stomachs. Please give of your time in prayer; being kind how u speak to and treat others. Time praying for others is a gift money can't buy.

      Thank you for your comment. We are keenly aware of the financial challenges that many people are facing in the current economy. Bear in mind that the pie chart was shared in answer to the question from a young man, ”I’ve just graduated from university. I’m going to get my first paycheck. Tell me, what should I do with it?” In that context, the answer was given, based on a Jewish principle that has brought them (and many others) financial blessings over many generations. It is sound advice for honoring God and building wealth but it is certainly not obligatory for every person in every situation. We will continue to pray that God will bless our viewers and that their financial situations will improve as time goes on.

    What can poor people learn from this talk? I am wondering? This man is talking about things we don't even dream about.
    Living on 70% of your income, well if you are a millionaire, easy for the rest of us, forget it.

      These small Fundamentalist churches all need to enforce Tithing or else they would all disappear due to lack of funds. Don't be deceived, there is no Commandment for Christians to Tithe in Scripture. And under Jewish Law, Widows and Orphans are NOT required to Tithe. Interesting that they never mentions this!

    • @beachfront304
      @beachfront304 Год назад +1

      I thought of that, too, and can only conclude that some people's expenses outweigh earning potential or opportunities. Even so, always tithe, no matter what, and God will provide extra (money sometimes) for extras and savings.

    Tithe was to be paid by the Jews living in ISRAEL who were under the Law - for as long as the Levitical Priesthood was in power and the Temple stood - excluding Widows and Orphans because they had no income and therefore were not required to Tithe.
    Are we in Israel now? Is the Levitical Priesthood still in power? Is the Temple still standing?
    Do you think it is righteous to starve yourself so they can pay Tithe to the SDA Church that makes 2 billion dollars of profit every year? Because all SDA's have been "brainwashed" to obey a Law that ended 2,000 year ago, and never applied to anyone outside of Israel at that time either!

      Thank you so much for your message, Kitty. Several Bible passages may be helpful in understanding this topic. Note that Abram gave a tithe to Melchizedek in Genesis 14 and Jacob promised to give a tenth back to God in Genesis 28. Both of these events took place prior to the establishment of the nation of Israel, a sanctuary/temple, or the Levitical priesthood.
      Then, in the New Testament, Jesus said in Matt. 23:23, “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone.” In this passage, Jesus does not discard the return of the tithe, rather He endorses it. He also draws His disciples’ attention to the widow’s mite in Mark 12 and Luke 21. Clearly, she is poor but Jesus does not intimate that she should have held onto her money. Instead, He commends her for it.
      The author of Hebrews states in Hebrews 7:5, “And indeed those who are of the sons of Levi, who receive the priesthood, have a commandment to receive tithes from the people according to the law, that is, from their brethren, though they have come from the loins of Abraham.” The sons of Levi were to receive the tithe because they did not receive any land as an inheritance, as the other sons did. Therefore, they had no land from which to make a living. Pastors today are the modern-day heirs of the responsibilities of the sons of Levi. They have the same responsibility of ministering to the people and God has a system set up so they may continue to focus on ministry to the people rather than working at another job and being distracted from their calling.
      If there is not an explicit statement that something has changed from New Testament times to our times, we may expect that it remains the same. There is no indication that God’s plans for His people’s finances changed since the Bible was written, so it would be safe to conclude that it remains the same.

    I honestly don't believe you people even understand Poverty. Someone who spends $10,000 on a "Skiing Holiday" is NOT poor! Try having only bread and milk in your fridge with 3 hungry children to feed and the Rent is due. Then tell me how such a single mother would Tithe?

    • @itiswritten
      @itiswritten  Год назад

      Thank you so much for your message, Kitty. You are right in your observation that someone who spends $10,000 on a “Skiing Holiday” is probably not poor. Julian Archer is coming at this from the perspective of someone who has had money and realized that his spending of that money (the skiing holiday) was not in line with what he felt was appropriate for his family’s expression of what it meant to be a Christian. He decided that it would be better to spend that money to help others than to spend it on family fun. He summarized his point by saying, “My belief is that God blesses us beyond our needs so that we can increase our standard of giving, not our standard of living.” Much of what Mr. Archer shares in this program are the financial principles he has followed in order to reach the top 1% of the wealthy on earth.
      God never guaranteed that tithing would work out on paper. However, He has demonstrated that He will take care of His children if they will trust Him. Haggai 1:6,9 say, “’You have sown much, and bring in little; you eat, but do not have enough; you drink, but you are not filled with drink; you clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; and he who earns wages, earns wages to put into a bag with holes.’ ‘You looked for much, but indeed it came to little; and when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why?’ says the Lord of hosts. ‘Because of My house that is in ruins, while every one of you runs to his own house.’” If we seek to take care of our own needs first, before taking care of what God has asked us to do, He curses our income and blows it away.
      On the other hand, He says in Malachi 3:8-10, “’Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings. You are cursed with a curse, for you have robbed Me, even this whole nation. Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this,’ says the Lord of hosts, ‘If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.’”
      If we trust God and put Him and His house first, He has promised to bless the 9/10 that we have left and to cover what we need. But if we keep 10/10 for ourselves, He curses it and blows it away. In God’s math, 9/10 with His blessing is actually greater than 10/10 with His curse. Trusting God with our finances isn’t easy ... but this is one of the very few times in the Bible that God asks us to ‘try’ (test) Him to see if He will deliver on His end of the promise.
      Our prayers are most certainly with those who are experiencing financial hardship and we hope these programs may help them develop habits that will move them in a financially positive direction.

      Malachi 3 talks about returning tithe and Jesus addresses tithe in Matthew 23. It's not a commandment as in "the 10 Commandments". It's the principle that all we have, including money, belongs to God and we return a portion as he asks us to do. It's a Biblical principle that applies to anyone who has God in their lives, not just Jews.

      I am curious. Where in the Bible does it say that? Also, I thought that Malachi, the last book, is pretty clear that not bringing in tithes and offerings is robbing God?

      Read Malachi in CONTEXT. Malachi was speaking to the Priests who were robbing God at that time in History, not the Widows and Orphans! See Deuteronomy 26:12, where it says part of the Tithe belongs to the Widow and the Orphan. Does your Church do this? Are we under the Law? Show me where the Law of Tithing continues on outside of Israel for all perpetuity?

      Thank you for your question @KittyBooBoo, there is abundant evidence that the returning of tithe was an integral part of life for God’s people in Old Testament times. Now let’s look at what Paul says in the New Testament, in 1 Corinthians 9:13: “Do you not know that those who minister the holy things eat of the things of the temple, and those who serve at the altar partake of the offerings of the altar?” Paul is referring to the priesthood of the Old Testament and how they were to receive their livelihood for their work of ministry. But now read the very next verse: “Even so the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should live from the gospel.” Paul’s statement makes it plain that the gospel minister in New Testament times is to be supported in exactly the same manner as the Old Testament priest was supported.
      God’s financial plan for His people remains the same today and He blesses those who trust Him to take care of their needs.
      Be sure to request the free offer for today’s program, God Will Provide, and we will be happy to send this uplifting book to you. We pray it will be a blessing to you as you allow God to guide you in your financial decisions. He owns the cattle on a thousand hills and He promises to provide for your needs as well (Matt. 6:25-34). God bless.

      Traditionally, widows and orphans (of that time) were unable to receive an income, what's 10% of nothing? Nothing!
      The smaller your income, the less 10% is.
      Being a single mother and struggling with the cost of day to day living, I too had issues with this when I first came to God. However, I decided to put my trust in God and I went without the simple pleasures like coffee and sweets and only ate meat every 2nd day so I could pay my tithe and offering - and I ended up healthier because of it! Because I felt healthier and happier I then decided to become a vegetarian, and saved more money again. I have found that I was never left wanting, and was able to put money aside for emergencies. I still enjoy the simple pleasures occasionally, only I enjoy them more than I did before. And I'm better off now than what I was back then... go figure?
