I always told myself as a kid, why buy something bigger just to continuously pay higher bills: electric/gas, someone to clean and realistically I'm not running into each room of a big home just to get use of it. As for vehicles еюthey break and need maintenance every so often so high maintenance just to feel happy for a little while until you have to spend more on the next thing to make you happy? Nah, I'm good. Now as an adult, I'm able to purchase things. I can afford a home but would rather still live in an apartment, I know my neighbors, I don't have to pay for anything to be fixed and I have a truck, so if it floods I'm good. I live why below my means and I'm freakn happy knowing I'm content, period. I look at people with less than my trying to keep up with the mansions and nice cars and it's embarrassing and funny at the same time. Definitely those two things are WAY overrated.
