    So glad I found you and your toe up videos. I'm now on the foot of my first socks and enjoying every minute of it. I wanted to learn toe up so I can use as much yarn as possible on the leg and eliminate a lot of leftovers. I'm doing two at a time on 9" circulars and did the toe on dpns. I struggled with the second toe for some reason, but finally prevailed. I do like the rounded toe as well. Thanks so much for helping a visual left handed person knitting in a right handed world learner.

    I cant believe it took me so long to subscribed to your videos, i did my first pair of toe up socks but did not like the pattern in particular on the heel. Now i am going to do yours because it makes so much more sense. Thank you. I listened to video part 1. 1.5 and 2. And going to start my sock then catch up later. I love the pattern k6P2 since my yarn is camouflage its going to look great.

    Love your older toe-up socks tutorial. It is my go-to for socks. I have learned how many stitches to use and how long to make them before the heel flap. I love how you do the heel flap on the sole and then continue the knit-slip pattern up the back of the heel. I used to really struggle with toe-up because of the heel flap and gusset. I also follow The Crazy Sock Lady podcasts and she is doing a Summer Sock Camp in June,July, and August that I am doing. I probably would not have done it without your toe-up tutorial. Always look forward to your posts.

    I have knit many many socks, scarves, mittens, what have you. Never did I think (duh) of putting a purl stitch at the beginning and end of the working space, if I was to have a 2 stitch purl at the end, essentially out of nowhere. Thank you!

    Love your tutorials for all the tips and tricks. Love the stripes in Urth Uneek but Since the cakes yield a very long sock, I think I will cast on a different self striping yarn. Curious to see if you knit the full length.

    So now I'm doing the foot. . Using 80 stitches on Pomes Sock- 100g- 459 yards - 75*%wool-25%acrilic yarn. Color969 cabin fever.
    Now I know that patterns and striping colors keep the interest.
    Mind numbing repetition created by : same stitch, same color, same weight yarn was killing my enthusiasm.
    Thanks for the encouragement by example.

    • @PurlTogether

      I don't think they fit any different since the parts of the sock are knitted the same way. Thanks for watching!

      Sure, it wouldn't hurt. Just remember to write down what you do, so you remember for the second sock.

    do you rotate the needle thrughout the entire sock or stop once you complete the increasing

    • @PurlTogether
      @PurlTogether  9 месяцев назад

      I'm not quite sure what you mean by "rotate?" I'm knitting using the magic loop technique, so I'm turning my work after knitting across the top of the foot and then again after I knit across the sole stitches.

    Thank you for this series. I found you while searching for info about doing a toe up sock with heel flap and gusset, and I've subscribed based on looking at your video list. Question (if you have time to answer): you were mentioning how long to make the foot. Is negative ease not a consideration? I know it is for sock width, but wasn't sure if it's a factor for sock foot length before starting the heel. Thanks again 😊

    • @PurlTogether
      @PurlTogether  2 года назад +1

      I don't normally consider any negative ease for the length of the sock because I don't want to pull the heel towards my toe. I prefer to knit it to the exact length of my foot. Thanks for being a new subscriber!

    Any suggestions for the left and right leans for a left-handed knitter?

    • @PurlTogether
      @PurlTogether  3 года назад

      You'll need to choose what works for you regarding how to pick up those "legs" in the rows below. I'd also suggest asking your question in the Facebook group. There may be left-handed knitters there that would have some tips for you.

    Always enjoy your Tutorials. I decided to knit these two at a time on Magic Loop, first time ever doing Turkish cast on and two at a time. I hope I get through it. QQ when doing the turkish co, you knitted the toe using the front needle. You're done with the toe and increases, ready to knit the leg and I think I noticed you pulled the back needle to knit the front as in regular magic loop knitting. Did I get this right? Also for a 64 st will it be P2, K3. Thank you so much!

    • @PurlTogether
      @PurlTogether  3 года назад

      Yes, regular magic looping. 64 sts is a multiple of 8, or 4, so you can do a couple of different things. For larger rib and multiple of 8 sts, you'd have:
      p1, k6, (p2, k6) x 3, p1 across the instep. Or is you want a multiple of 4 you'd have: p1, k2, (p2, k2) x 7, p1
      Hope that helps!

    Hi Janna I have 32 stitches and I end up with pearl three I am doing the rib you are knitting how should I do it can you tell me how to do it. Thank you. Kathy I hope to hear from you. Soon.

    • @PurlTogether
      @PurlTogether  3 года назад

      I'm using 36 sts on each half, so my pattern works because it's a multiple of 6. (k4, p2). If you have 32 sts, you'll have to adjust for that using a multiple of 8 or 4 sts. So you could begin you pattern like this:
      p1, k6, *p2, k6* repeat between the asterisks, end with p1.
      or you can knit a 2x2 rib alternating with a plain knit round.

      Hi Janice, I will copy and paste my answer here. I did reply to your question when you sent me a message through the Patreon system.
      You can certainly knit thicker socks using DK weight sock yarn that has some nylon content.
      Lauren, the indie dyer at A Girl and Her Wool has some fantastic DK weight sock yarn.

      You might also consider some Regia 6-ply sock yarn such as this:

    Still waiting for my yarn from Utah. Question: I have issues with the ball of my foot, so could I do the slip one stitch/knit one to make the ball area a little more cushioned? Or is there another stitch pattern for a little thickness? Thanks for all your wonderful videos and your Facebook patreon page🤗

    • @PurlTogether
      @PurlTogether  3 года назад +1

      You can! Just be aware that the slip stitch pattern will take more yarn, so you'll want to make sure you have enough.

    I have a question about the cuff. I love doing toe up socks, until I get to the cuff. The cuffs are always too loose. I knit my socks on 2.5mm needles, and the cuff on 2mm needles. But the top is always loose.

    I have 34 sts on each needle (68 sts). I am having a challenge getting purl 2, knit 4 to work so it will be right when I get to the leg. HELP!

    • @PurlTogether
      @PurlTogether  3 года назад

      You can adjust the stitch count so that it works for your numbers. For example, you could use a repeat of 8 sts: p2, k6. then you'd have 32 sts. with 1 extra knit stitch on each end.
      Or, you could go head with the p2, k4, ending the pattern with a p2, then just have 1 extra knit stitch on each end of the needle.
      Do what works for you!

    Let's say that I wanted to buy the yarn you bought, but I wanted to take one skein from the center, one from the outer-edge, but alternate it on one sock ... so a row of center-pull, and then a row of out-edge, and back to a row of center-pull. I hope I'm explaining that right. Anyway, I've not done it yet, but just mulling it over. Would you, if you were going to do it, would you alternate the yarn right up the center back, or would you do it up a side??? Or would you not do it at all because of the ridge it will make when you wind up the next yarn???

    • @PurlTogether
      @PurlTogether  3 года назад

      I don't think I would do that because, as you mentioned, you'd have that little ridge where you're twisting and alternating. I wonder if that might be irritating on the foot portion of the sock?
