I know there weren't many outtakes from BTR but I feel Tracks should have had more from it that there was, this is far better than a lot of the 90s outtakes that got on Tracks. Garry is especially good here.
@@mikemcf33 yeah I saw the no nukes stuff.. I think I bought that show off the website in 2020 though maybe I'm thinking of a difft show.. I thinks tracks 2 really needs to be released.. and then 2024 do a re-release of born in the usa with outtakes and such
This song has always sounded like the music that would be created by Graham Parker and the Rumor in 1976, but "Lonely" wasn't good enough for Born To Run in 1975. "Linda Let Me the One" was also cut from the album along with "Lovers in the Cold." I suppose that Mike Appel was going to veto any song title that began with the letter "L."
I understand why this was not released in BTR. It definitely sounds more like a work in progress, a transition, than a 100% finished song. And the production is all over the place compared to Meeting across the river.
Clem Mason , if I were to guess, he stashes what he thinks might fit on a record of new songs. Letter To You will have three songs originally recorded in the early 70s.
There is a danger in not being a little stranger. This little stranger never put your soul in danger. Being lonely in the park is better than being the hunted in an invisible game where you loose your soul and live forever in the dark.
Fun fact: This was suggested to replace Meeting Across the River on Born To Run, but Bruce pushed for the latter. I think Meeting deserves to be on the album, but I do wish this was included as a 9th track, maybe before or after Jungleland.
This song wouldn't have worked in either of those positions on the album as Meeting into Jungleland is one of Bruce's best segues and what could possibly follow Jungleland? Too bad Bruce wasn't doing non-LP B-sides in 1975, as this song definitely should have been released at some point.
Meeting Across The River is soooooooo superior to this. This is interesting to me, because until just NOW I'd never heard of it. But this versus say RENDEZVOUS, in particular live 1976 versions of Rendezvous, this to me isn't a wonderful track. I liked it, but as an outtake from Born to Run, which to me is a PERFECT record, I couldn't see it taking the place of any track. And considering that record, I just don't think it fits at all. But it should have been on TRACKS. In any event I'm glad to discover it. Thanks for posting!!!
Just discovered this a few weeks ago on Sirius. Fun tune but not the quality of BTR songs. Still, great for the 70s and great for today for a fun rocker!
Wow great song... Why doesn't the boss creat an album thats completely dedicated to his outtakes and bootlegs from the early 70's to the early 80's? He could make so much money off of it (and I'm not talking bout his tracks album though I do like it)
I'm not a major Parker fan, but I do like him and have listened to him a fair bit. I'm not bitching here, but I can't see the similarity. Would love it if you could give me some pointers, any specific Parker songs you're thinking of?
My friends would always bitch at me for playing the "B sides" Often times I have found that the B's are more enjoyable than the overplayed A sides. :) Either way, one can't go wrong playing ANY Springsteen song. Noone could attempt to duplicate that passion.
So raw. He was so young. You can hear the passion and soul.
The outtakes and unreleased stuff are still better than 99% of music out there.
Could not agree more.
I absolutely love Springsteen's music, lyrics of street life and romance back in the 70's. So very very sweet
man listen to Garry on bass; so underrated
I like Bruce Springsteen's early years so much!!!! Pure rock' n' roll!!!
3:53 hey little stranger what r u doing tonight?
outstanding break!

Another reason we need "Tracks 2"
its coming!
Maybe one of the surprises for 2021

I just love this.
GASP !
Awesome song. Totally underrated.
bliss , that piano is ace , god this so very good

I agree.
Que buena cancion,muy fresca,tipica de los 70s.Grande Bruce...como siempre.
Something about the 1970's when they recorded and played real close together on stage. It just seems to feel and sound better.
Bruce Springsteen on many outtakes during the making of Born to Run back in 1975.
🌹
So want to hear this live.....
❤❤❤
just brings that explosion of the soul ,again breathing the fire from then to now rightously so daddy o
hey little stranger what you doing tonight? Wow . Melts my heart ♥
Why wasn't this on "Tracks" this is great!

Tracks 2?

Never heard this till now, this is fucking awesome.
still adore this
What a song. Listen to Roy on this one. Definately the Jersey Shore keyboard sound.
Should have included this on Letter to You!!!

actually, it was bruce and jon landau who wanted this to be included, with mike appel championing 'meeting'
actually the song you're thinking of was "Linda Let Me Be The One."

I love LOVERS IN THE COLD but it resembles THUNDER ROAD too much.

This feels more like a cut somewhere between GFAP & the Wild & Innocent. Interesting lyrics but a bit shambolic
This should have been on ''Tracks'' also
Tracks 2 will be under my tree this Christmas
You’re in luck ........ tracks 2 will be coming out first half of 2021
@@kevin2400 have not heard news of this yet

My mom hates the outtakes.... every time I tell her to listen to a masterpiece.. she wants to hear the fan favorites
I need a lover who won't drive me crazy
yes
Yes,you're right but bruce and jm are great pals so a lawsuit seems unlikely😉
Thank God they left this off Born to Run.
Ohh he was right on it in early 70s
bom dia bruce
This is cool, but "Meeting Across the River" outclasses it, hands down.
There is a faint whiff of the Jungleland melody. They probably couldn't have both.
Come to my door.
I love all of Springsteen, but I have always preferred urban Springsteen to rural Springsteen.
Rip it from here.
No car,here it's cold.
I would do it over half or whole step lower. It sounds like he's straining. But the song is there. I've ruined many a song singing a step too high.
Well they can’t all be winners......My ears actually hurt.
kid gets sick and throws up on your shoes...awesome!!
This easily could of been a Eddie money song
First time I’m hearing this. So many times I got so close to liking it… but… ehhhhh.
Glad this didnt make it to B2R
How did he become such a bore?
..love this one...
