- A Journey of Nature and Community
Nestled amidst the breathtaking valleys, where the mighty rivers Drangmechhu and Mangechhu flow, a remarkable venture has taken root. A team of 11 highly skilled river guides has come together to create the first community-based eco-tourism company in Panbang.
Inspired by the pristine beauty and rich biodiversity surrounding them, River Guides of Panbang embarked on a mission to preserve this natural wonder. With the support of Bhutan Foundation, a dedicated NGO working towards environmental conservation, cultural preservation, and equitable development, they received both financial and technical assistance.
Panbang, a part of the Royal Manas National Park corridor, is blessed with an abundance of natural treasures. Vast forests, home to stunning orchids, endangered golden langurs, majestic Asian elephants, and an array of remarkable feline species, including the adorable Bengal tigers, make this place truly exceptional.
In addition to preserving the precious biodiversity of the Royal Manas National Park corridor, the eco-tourism group aims to promote various sustainable activities within the community.
Amidst their tireless efforts, the River Guides of Panbang have encountered challenges that lie beyond their means and influence. Primarily, these hurdles stem from policy issues concerning the entry and exit of tourists. Nevertheless, they remain steadfast in their commitment to navigate these obstacles and forge a brighter path forward.
Panbang, featured prominently in BBS's documentary film "Tigers in Bhutan," holds great potential as a location for local documentary and film production. It is our goal to raise awareness about this incredible place among the Bhutanese people. We recently had the privilege of visiting Panbang to support and promote the River Guides of Panbang business, hoping to ignite a spark of curiosity and appreciation within our fellow Bhutanese.
Join us on this remarkable journey where nature's wonders and community spirit intertwine, as we celebrate the beauty of Panbang and the incredible work of the River Guides. Together, let us preserve and cherish the treasures that make Bhutan truly magical.

Thank you Sonam Ugyen sir for exploring that incredible place. The teams were giving most professional information and simulation. Acho Ugyen, your local name for confluence of two rivers ( Ama yongri and Apa Mungdhang) was hilarious and nostalgic. If international tourist visits there, I guarantee they won't regret for whatever reason from nature to adventures to hospitality.
