i wouldnt call myself a weaboo but i absolutely love when japanese developers go in with a cultural mindset. theres just something so serene and ancient about japanese traditional culture

I like the Japanese and Turkish designs of the host and dances incorporated with Spaltfest, Nintendo did something similar with Latin America and Pokemon for the next gen and all I can say is Nintendo adding other cultures in their games more than usual in recent is truly satisfying
splatoon 2 had black culture in the main forefront of the game too. the devs take a lot of time and care with the cultures they take inspiration from. im happy for the east and south asian representation in 3!!

Calling it right now that just based on the vid I think Shiver is gonna be my favorite of the trio we get for hosts. Also I'm REALLY hoping that Splatoon isn't a trilogy and we get more games after this and the 'epic finale of this splat-tastic saga' is just talking about the fight between the Octarians and Inklings since Octolings seem to be getting along with them now and giving them less reason to fight, so new villains will pop up in the future...it'd be a shame to lose such a fun series after 3 games.
I genuinely don't think Splatoon will find an end anytime soon to be honest. Why? Because it became one of the most appreciated licenses of Nintendo, especially in Japan where the fan base is absolutely massive. If Nintendo ever decided to stop making Splatoon games, I'm sure they'll lose too many money unless they create a brand new franchise.
Which means, in my opinion, we will see more and more Splatoon games over the future, on the next consoles. They will become another big Nintendo franchise, such as Zeldas, Marios or even Animal Crossings!
Splatoon is such a big franchise, I don’t think they’ll discontinue splatoon after 3 games. However, we do know this will be the finale to the in game story mode, so whatever splatoon comes after this one in the far future (on next console Assumably) will probably have a completely new storyline. We will have to probably also say goodbye to all our favorite characters from the first 3; We may even have and incredibly long time skip into the future.
Nintendo said splatoon was in its "big 4" with Mario, Zelda, and animal crossing. Aka HUGE money makers. Something like animal crossing is hard to innovate on but we've had lots of Zelda and Mario games and I really doubt they'll give splatoon up

Splatnet was in 2 also. It didn't really have "new" gear, just the same gear with variant main abilities. It was actually pretty helpful for building up a collection of gear because the order queue was separate from ordering stuff you saw on other players. Also gave you way further schedule for salmon run and matches than the game did, so you could kind of coordinate playing better with your schedule.
God I’ve been a fan of the franchise since the first game and I’m so massively hyped for this especially the ability to make loadouts But them R34 artists gonna be all over Shiver 💀

Okay as someone who uses Splatnet2. Assuming Splatnet3 works similarly, what they mean by "gear not sold in shops" is essentially just variants. The gear sold in-game come with specific, preset and unchangable *primary* abilities. With Splatnet, you can find the exact same styles but with completely different primary abilities. In other words, it's a good tool if you want both a carefully crafted look, AND loadout.
I’m unsure this time, in Splatoon 3 you can now change the main ability of gear for 45 ability chunks so that would seem unecessary. But maybe it will still be that way anyways
This looks amazing, HMK. Also, depending on how much time passed between Splatocalypse and Splatoon 3, Murch has certainly aged well since we saw him in Inkopolis Square. I'm also loving the new crew manning the shops with Sheldon, and the new idol group that took over for Off the Hook and the Squid Sisters in Deep Cut. Everything else that Nintendo is adding into Splatoon 3 puts the previous titles to shame as they went all out overhauling Splatoon 3 following Chaos vs Order. This is going to be...freaking Splatacular! BOOYAH!!!

Frye is totally a vampire squid with the fangs and glowing fingers. They look so damn impressive in RL. You can actually catch some of them in Animal Crossing if you remember.
