  • A review and demo of the WAGO 773 connectors. I show how to use the Wago 773 to create a lighting circuit, to connect and extend cables, and how to use them with the WAGOBOX Junction Box. I give a quick product overview with my thoughts on the Wago 773 series of connector blocks.

The beauty of this system, compared to what we commonly use in the US, is that you don't need to fish the wires through the holes in the junction box before making the connections. Brilliant!

Used these every day while working in an industrial light factory. Very good fit, quick and easy. Rarely ever had a bad one... and they were tough to remove (very secure)

Probably not safe considering the load.. Are they both on a single or double socket? The ring can be extended. If it's a radial then split it across 2 single sockets.

Hi Julio, thanks for the feedback. I have another review and demo of the Wago 222 series ruclips.net/video/B65_vZ9DM1I/видео.html. They may be more suitable as they click into place and are a bit easier when reusing multiple times. They also accept braided and stranded wire. Thanks for watching!

Do the 773-162's have test ports that allow you to check voltage with your multimeter probes like the 221's?

The wago connector are neat. No tools are required. Simply open the lever that locks the wire. Do not fear of breaking it. That would not open fully and wire would not come out. With lever fully fulcrumed, it is child pay to pull the wire out and reuse.

Would these be OK to join my lighting earth wires to the light fitting earth, for example I've got 3 earth wires coming from the ceiling ( rose) and one coming from the new light fitting, can they be joined into the 4 way connector. I'm in the UK and from your accent not a million miles away from your good self.

great video, would you use these instead of 221 for lighting because of price? (since both are fine amp wise)

Are these better than the 222 blocks or just personal preference?

    • @POUSEaroundtheHOUSE
      @POUSEaroundtheHOUSE  6 лет назад +1

These have a lower rating so only suitable for lower amp circuits like lighting. Same sort of thing though and classed as maintenance free due to know screws to secure the wires. Hope that helps.

so that's what the UK equivalent of our "Romex" cable looks like, basically the same except for the colors....

"... you take your earth sheath.." Your .. what? Never seen an earth wire without a mantle. Is this a standard NYM-J 3x1,5 cable in.. UK?

Sheath or sleeving for earth/cpc wire is standard in the UK yes. Hope that helps!

The need to be stripped to 12-13mm, not 7mm. It even says so on the box.

It annoys me that these have apparently existed in Europe since the 1960s, meanwhile in the US we're still mainly using wire nuts which I believe are a pre-WWII invention.

I agree, and many electricians continue to stick with 'tried and tested methods'. I'm a great believer in moving things forward. If new techniques, methods and equipment make a job easier then use them! Thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching!

These kinds of connectors are vastly superior for any kind of solid wire application. Braided/stranded wire can be more of a toss-up since the screw-on action of a wire nut is physically predisposed towards keeping the strands together, whereas these Wago connectors (they're sold by a company called Ideal in the US) can require more pressure to insert a wire than a braided wire has, so it just kind of squishes against the connector unless you stick it in there just right. Maybe that's got something to do with it.

Check out my video for wago 222 connectors. They are designed for braided wires.
