Thanks for the video. I recently stayed in Meritel Hanoi and it was a very nice experience. A mention for the staff: kind, professional and always helpful.
r u a travel agent? I love your clear and warm voice. Your comment is impartial and professional. You introduced a lot more choices that I have never known their existence even though I have been in Hanoi 4 times. If u r an agent, do you mind helping me picking a hotel that runs from$USD 80 to $USD 100 for a solo old lady.
Thank you for watching and I appreciate your feedback! My videos are meant to be informative which is why I try to stay impartial! My follow up video will be out in a week with four hotel suggestions that might be suitable for you. So I hope you can wait and watch that! With your budget you have quite a lot of options to choose from in the Old Quarter. 👍
Hi - thanks for watching. The dry season is different for the different regions of Vietnam. To be safe, the best time for little rain would be from April - June for most of Vietnam.
Such great information. Thank you so much. I'm just wondering if you would know about Visas. We're going mid November and are flying into Hanoi but will head to Changmai and from Changmai, we want to fly to Saigon so a different entry point. Any information would be greatful. Thanks so much.
Hi - glad you found the information useful. If you are going into Vietnam then to Thailand and returning back to Vietnam you’ll need a multiple entry visa. It doesn’t matter where you enter or exit Vietnam as long as you have a valid visa.
Great video but hotels reviewed are way too expensive for "old quarter" you pay the same for new Western brand hotels on the Westlake area. It would be nice if you review a more down to earth (3-4 stars) hotels that are practical $50 - $75/night are Saigon's prices. A Landmark71 Condo is only $50/night there. Please do a part 3 for the said category.
Hi - thanks for watching. Actually if you check prices on Agoda and depending on time of year you're traveling - most of the hotels mentioned are in the price range you mentioned with exception of the Peridot. I spend on average about $65 per night in Hanoi. I'm currently working on Hanoi hotel Part 3 video coming out soon!
@@traveleatvietnam Not really, if you change the price filter on Agoda to $50, you'll get the 3 -4 stars in Oldtown, ex.. the Hanoi memory central $33/night. The other thing is, most expats who are visiting Vietnam are not looking for the 5 stars over price "FOO-FOO" rooms which are normal here in the States(most are free in Vegas). So we(I) would rather pay around $35- 50/day for lodging, i spent most of the day outside. My last trip I didn't even care if the place have a pool or gym. What I value are location...location, quality of the breakfast buffet, cleanliness of the room, lock box for valuables, safety and security, those are my priorities when I look for in a room. Coming back for another 2 months trip in Feb/2025, recently retired so time is on my side. Staying and Vinhome in Saigon because of the value ($40/night0) for a full service condo, this is what I'm talking about.. the price point is key, looking to stay a whole week in Hanoi, a city I never been to. I applaud you for the effort, but do look into my suggestion, we rather spend the money on food, stuff and not the room, perhaps you migh venture into reviewing food joints, local haunts and things to do. Keep up the great work, who knows, I might run into you in Hanoi.
Good choice! The rooms are spacious and bright - just make sure you don’t book the lowest category since it won’t have a window! Enjoy your visit to Hanoi.
Thank you for this highly informative video. We will be going in November with my mother who is a senior. She wants to see the Lake and St. Joseph’s. Are most sites accessible from the 5 hotels you recommended?
Hi - thanks for watching! The hotels I mentioned are in the Old Quarter so it is in walking distance to Hoan Kiem Lake and St Joseph's Cathedral. November should be a pleasant time to be in Hanoi - enjoy your visit!
hi, I'm going to Hanoi on December 24 through 29. I love the MK hotel but im looking for a cheaper deal for solo travelers. What do you recommend Hi, I'll be in Hanoi from December 24th to 29th. I really enjoy the MK hotel but I'm searching for a more affordable option for solo travelers. What do you recommend?
Hi - thanks for watching. The time you'll be in Hanoi is peak travel season during the holiday period so prices tend to be higher and rooms more limited. I haven't stayed at this hotel, but based on what I see on Agoda and their location, it looks like a good potential budget hotel for about 800k vnd per night (about $35USD). You can check out this link bit.ly/4dY6hpU
Hi there!! In your video, you never mentioned about noise. Is it noisy to stay in the Old Quarter at night? Do you have any suggestions about private tour guides?
Surprisingly noise is not a big issue but also depends on if your room is a streetview and windows are double paned. For the most part, I did not have any issues with noise maybe that’s why I didn’t mention it! For private tour guides - you may want to contact a local tour company or search on Facebook. Enjoy your visit to Hanoi!
Hi - the hotel is in the Old Quarter but on the edge so not as central as others. I haven't stayed here but based on my experience with new hotels - there tends to be inconsistencies with service so just be prepared for that. The pictures are not real but 3D drawings so not sure how it looks in real life. Like all tube buildings - there will be rooms with no windows so if that's important to you, make sure to book a room with windows. Though rooms without windows tend to be cheaper. Enjoy your visit to Hanoi!
I am Vietnamese 🇻🇳 What are you nationality? Are you love Vietnam ? I hope you have an idea how much you enjoy traveling in Vietnam the most in the world
Hi - they have laundry services where they charge per piece. Or you can use outside laundry services, might be a good option if you have a lot of clothes. They charge by weight.

Thanks for watching and sharing your hotel experience in Hanoi. I'm sure other viewers will find this information useful!
Fantastic video! We’re coming here in May 2025 and these hotels look fabulous. Definitely will be doing more research on them 😊Thank you!
Glad the video was useful. Hope to do another follow up video soon!

Most likely gonna do the MK Premier hotel thanks for the review I like the windows and roof top plus gym

Hi! Does the hotels have heater? Im planning to go in the winter season
Most hotels have heaters which is basically using the AC unit but turning it on hot instead of cool. I don't know about the budget hostels though.
Hello, I'll be traveling alone. Would there be any budget hotels that are not in alleyways?
Hi - budget hotels (below $20/night) tend to be in alleyways because the rent is lower so that’s why rooms are cheaper.
Hi there, what are your thoughts on the salute premium hotel and spa ? It's a fairly new hotel.

Peridot is stunning my type of hotel and not badly priced if you think what you pay else where in the world
the premium hotel with the window behind the bed is a no no for me i want a dark room to sleep in
Vietnam could be more enjoyable if the people didn’t throw garbage everywhere and the food vendors practiced safety and hygiene.
Good so you don’t need to come here

Vietnam is a third world slum country.
